The center of both, however, was doughy and somewhat undercooked. Looking around ... the restaurant was over 50% full even at this early hour. Most were Americans. We saw a good number of diners with pasta dishes ... and none were left unfinished. Sadly, we don't have any comparisons to weigh (yet). So, I cannot affirm any "best of" citations, it this is certainly a solid trattoria/pizzeria. The staff are attentive and the food served hot and fresh.

The food was delicious, starting with a good bread basket, which included soft and crusty breads and some very tasty anise breadsticks. We ordered a robust spread of appetizers: the crudo for one, plus sea urchin, shrimp carpaccio, and scallops. The crudo platter came with tuna tartare, cuttlefish, and fish carpaccio, drizzled with olive oil and served with diced red onion and a wedge of lemon. The tartare was great, served over some cold potato, and I loved both the slippery noodles of cuttlefish and the firm fish, which was snapper or something else like it. The cuttlefish and snapper were sprinkled with bright pops of pink peppercorn. The sea urchin was a treat, served in its shell over ice. The shrimp carpaccio was excellent, the raw shrimp sweet and fresh, finished with olive oil, black pepper, and lemon. The scallops were cooked in their shells with crispy breadcrumbs. We did get one pasta, and it was outstanding: nubby cavatelli with little sweet shrimp, cherry tomatoes, and pecorino, in a delightfully shrimpy sauce. We also had the tuna entrée, four thin tuna steaks with arugula, cherry tomatoes, and balsamic. Cooked more than I typically expect of tuna, but quite good, meaty and not dry. If you're visiting Rome and want an elegant seafood meal, I'd highly recommend Tempio di Iside. It had a different vibe and menu from the other restaurants we went to on our trip, and we were really happy with everything we ordered.

We were escorted to the downstairs dining room which has low ceilings and a dark ambiance. It felt like a dungeon. We rejected that and told the escort we wanted to sit in the main dining room, and then we selected our table. My wife and I each ordered mixed salad and seafood risotto. Both were poor quality. The salad was 65% iceberg lettuce, sliced tomatoes, and arugula (rocket lettuce) on top. How does a restaurant at this level serve iceberg lettuce?? The seafood risotto was no better. A plate of rice, with 6 clams, 3 mussels, and 1 shrimp (see attached photo, which is nothing like the one on their website!!). Where was the octopus (per the menu) and why so little shellfish?? Service was intermittent and slow. Not once did waiter come to fill our wine or water glass. This restaurant does NOT cater to tourists, as further evidenced by the regular attention to other "locals" tables. We've been in Rome for 10 days thus far, and this was the least attentive and poorest example of "finer dining" we've experienced.
