Well after 275 visits, I just learned Chef Nick no longer owns it. The two cooks bought it and continue to please the clientele. It had been years since I had the farmers omelette. A cheese omelette atop biscuits and gravy. I added some nice crispy hashbrowns for a feast that will satisfy me until dinner. I don't get an opportunity to stop in as regularly I used to, but definitely have them on rotation. The small town charm is still here, and the homemade cinnamon rolls are delicious. Have been coming on and off here since we moved back in '03. Food is always good and consistent. Cash only, no biggie. Smaller place just enjoy your family and relax type of atmosphere. But if you want a timely breakfast or sensible order placement so the kitchen doesn't get backed up and a family of three is waiting over and hour to get food. Thankfully I ordered my daughters right away, she has eaten and been finished for roughly 10 mins now and a few mins ago we were told it will be another 10/15 mins after the 45 mins we've already waited. This little diner is my favorite breakfast spot in this part of the Chicago Suburbs and the Aurora area. Be sure and take note of the specials. When they have something with sausage, it is homemade, and doesn't taste like the stuff that comes from the grocery store. I've also seen Quiche, Fritada, Empanadas, Red Velvet French Toast, Crab Cakes, Beef Bourguignon, and other specials. The thing with the specials though is you can not get there too late because they do run out. I would say be there earlier than noon even on a weekend. If they happen to be out, I recommend the stuffed hash brown or Canadian Breakfast. The stuffed hash brown is similar to a breakfast skillet but the items are rolled up in a hash brown. Apparently, the Owner Chef Nick is the driving force behind the creativity and innovation that goes into the menu. I always come later though, so it is his worthy Son who I see behind the grill. Please be aware that it is cash only. However, the prices are reasonable and the portions are generous. read more

No frills, stick to your ribs diner food. Came here for breakfast while in town and the place was packed by 930 am. There was going to be a 25 min wait for a table but we snagged three counter seats to skip the wait. In my experience, service can be hit or miss in places like this especially when busy, but everybody was SO friendly here! We were served quickly - I got the Wolves Skillet, my husband got a veggie omelette, and my daughter got sausage, hash browns, and a bagel. The food came out quickly and everything was delicious! Taking off a star because it is cash only with no atm in the building. My family came to this restaurant to try it out. The food itself was very good and the waitress we had was super sweet. It's a small place (kind of a hole in the wall- no big sign) and so there is not a lot of room. The menu has a good amount of options without being overwhelming or too limited. We will definitely return; the only reason I give 4 stars is that this place is cash only - which is fine - but it would have been nice to know prior to arriving and seeing the signs since we don't typically have cash (and had to go get some). My husband and I had both looked at the website prior to arrival and it said nothing about it being cash only. I would recommend having that on the website. read more

I went on a Sunday at noon and we were told they are not serving tables anymore even though they close at 1 on Sunday's. I had called before hand asking about their payment policy and they did not mention to me that they stopped waiting tables at noon. I believe that this was racial motivated, the hostess was white and everybody else in the restaurant was white. When the hostess saw that we were of color, she quickly proceeded to walk us out. There were plenty of seats in the restaurant, she simply did not want to attend us. This behavior seems consistent with other patrons who had similar experiences of not feeling welcomed. Be wary of this place if you are white. I will be reporting to Better Business of Bureau and the Oswego Chamber of Commerce. Other negative reviews received a replied from the restaurant, however, those that mentioned race and color did not often receive a reply from the restaurant. read more

OSWEGO FAMILY RESTAURANT used to be one of our favorite restaurants to have a reasonably priced meal but not anymore! Yes, they have daily specials but close at 2pm? What? No more dinners? I called them up various times and they seem just happy to cut the hours and eliminate the dinner menus. It's not as though there wasn't a crowd in the evening because there were times we had to wait in line for a seat! So, bottom line is, the days where you could sit down for an elegant evening meal are gone! They are losing business and don't seem to care. The daily afternoon specials aren't making the difference to come in before 2pm. read more

I have always loved this place. Plain simple delicious breakfast done right! That have a tenderloin to die for. Also, crispy chicken sandwich is awesome. Open faced roast beef is probably my absolute favorite. Great coffee, friendly waitresses, nice ambiance...old timy friendly, great buzz! Just remember to bring cash. They don't take debit cards.
