A few years ago, my friend wanted to check out this location but there was a very long wait. I have been here a few times but I finally decided to make a review since it has been a few years since I have visited. The drive was very easy. Parking could be a little issue since, while they do have a little lot, it is shared by a lot of other buisineses. However, there shouldn't be a huge issue finding somewhere to park depending on the day and time. I arrived here for lunch on Sunday and we had no issues parking. Inside is very clean. The building was bigger than I imagined.... I don't know if they expanded or not but I always thought it was small especially since I normally at near the front door. For lunch, I tried "Fire in the Cairo"... it was a burger with bacon, cream cheese sauce, jalapeños and a jalapeño jam, and I upgraded my fries to their loaded baked potato fries which came in nacho cheese, sour cream, bacon, etc. The burger itself (as well as the fries) were delicious. The jalapeño jam was not spicy at all to me but my tolerance is very high. Overall, I would get the burger and the fries again. Overall, the visit was great. Clean building. Crusade Burger is one of the best spots in the area for a smashburger and nachos. The burgers are juicy, perfectly smashed with great crust, and loaded with flavor, while the nachos are loaded and delicious. Everything is very tasty and reasonably priced, which makes it a great value. I usually try to visit when it's not too crowded so I can fully enjoy the meal and conversation. On busy days, it can get pretty loud, making it hard to hear people or talk comfortably. Overall, the food quality keeps me coming back. Came in around 5:30 PM and grabbed a patio table, we were seated within 10 minutes, no issue. The place was maybe a third full, surprisingly quiet for a Saturday evening. That's where things started to slip. Drinks took about 15 minutes. Apps? Another 20. Then we ordered our mains: a "You're the one for me, Fatty!" burger and a cheesesteak. Those took over an hour... To their credit, the food itself was solid. Burger looked like the photos, tasted great. Fries were crispy and well-seasoned. No complaints there. But the wait? Completely unreasonable--especially with no explanation or apology. Everyone on the patio seemed stuck in the same delay, then suddenly food started coming out in waves like a switch flipped. Felt like a kitchen issue, but no communication from staff made it worse. We finished up and ordered a milkshake to share. It came out fast--almost too fast. The cake on top was stale and rock hard, basically inedible, and the shake tasted like plain vanilla instead of Biscoff. For $16, that's just not acceptable. Our server did comp the shake and gave us a voucher for a future visit, which I appreciate, but it doesn't undo the experience. Overall, this trip was very disappointing, especially for my girlfriend's first visit. I've been coming here for years, so it's frustrating to see the drop-off. What a cool spot! Great environment. Great food. Great service. Needless to say, Crusade Burger Bar is a must visit in Yorkville! We came on a Saturday night and it was pretty busy so if you can make reservations that could save you some time. If you end up waiting, there is a cool game room with pinball, pac mac, and other games which is pretty neat! It was too cold when we went but there also looks to be a nice patio out back for when the weather warms up. Parking can be tough though FYI! Our waitress was Candy and she was excellent! She provided great recommendations and was on top of taking our order, drink refills, and checking up without it feeling pushy or rushed. We started with cheese curds which were crisp and fluffy. For my meal I tried the brisket mac and cheese which hit the spot. The portion was generous and it came with the perfect ratio of mac and cheese to brisket. The side of garlic toast was also crispy and was perfect for wiping up all the extra cheese sauce. We didn't partake in any of the epic milkshakes this time but we did get a regular cookies and cream shake which was the perfect way to round out the meal. read more

Came on a Saturday at noon and was able to find parking in the small spot next to the restaurant . There is additional parking but on the other side of the tracks. Also, there was no waiting and was seated right away. We didn't try their appetizers since we had planned to get their milkshake. I had the Fox Republic burger cooked medium. Came with mushrooms, onions, and Swiss cheese. Didn't realize at the time but it wasn't like the photo shown on their website, which had arugula and aioli sauce. Burger was decent but since it was missing some ingredients it just seemed pretty regular and not really worth $18. Had a side of Caesar salad, which had lots of dressing. My friend had the Hangover. Was huge and had a fried egg with yolk running all over after one bite. Had bacon, cheese, and hash browns. Ended with The Cereal Killer milkshake. This was very delicious. We did take it apart to get to the fruity pebble strawberry milkshake. The vanilla cupcake was my favorite. So soft and had a light whipped cream. The waffle was cold and hard to eat. First timers and we'll be back! Our server was wonderful. Dirty Soda: orange vanilla- SO good! Soft pretzel app: homemade cheese sauce and jalapeño mustard were both great. Hyrule Chicken sandwich- highly recommend! Our server recommended getting the habanero aioli on the side and that was a very good call- it's really spicy! I didn't think the sandwich needed it at all. A hot honey would probably be better if they want to add a little spice. The garlic parm fries were great too. Bite The Flesh burger with ancho brisket, Mac n cheese and grilled onions. The brisket had great flavor. The burger itself didn't have much flavor but that might be intentional with so many flavorful toppings. Werewolves, skulls, neon, and classic rock vibes -- 10/10 atmosphere for anyone who loves good food with a side of spooky flair. They've also got a whole game room full of old-school arcade machines -- think, Pac-Man, and other pixelated nostalgia. There's even a quarter machine, because who carries change anymore? Most games are only 25¢ to $1, which means you can work off that burger one joystick wiggle at a time. Now, onto the food -- holy cow (literally). Every burger we ordered was delectable, juicy, and perfectly cooked -- worth every bit of the $18 price tag. Someone at our table went rogue and ordered butter noodles (we all judged them at first), but turns out... those were also delectable. And the shakes? Oh, the shakes. These aren't your average milkshakes -- these are monsters in a glass. We tried the Me Want Cookie and Cereal Killer -- all $16 each, and all absurdly good. We have been loyal customers since crusade opened in 2016. We regularly choose crusade for major events like birthdays, dates, anniversaries and holidays. We recently visited to celebrate father's day. As usual the food was great. However, the reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 was due to the change in French fries. We could immediately notice the difference in quality. The fries were bland and super short. Some pieces weren't even edible because they were too short. The food was very delicious, loved the pinball games here and stranger things decor was a nice touch now the final season is out. This is a small town area, so there's not many choices to dine. From outside, I thought this was a small diner, but when you walk in, it's actually a large restaurant that extends to the back of the building. They have pinball machines and some cool artwork on the walls. The burgers are huge, so we decided to split the meal. The burger was great, cooked well and not greasy. So what on the surface appears to be an attempt to wholesale rip off Kuma's Corner is actually a cool, comfortable, family friendly restaurant that serves better food. Yeah I used to be a Kumas diehard but now I can just get an over the top delicious burger and fries nearby. My kids like the food and my wife likes the burgers and she never gets burgers. Went here middle of the day on Sunday with two others. For a burger joint their burgers are okay...which is why I give them 3 stars. The types of burgers you can get are fun and there is a variety. Of course you can build your own burger to get anything any everything you want. The beer it self is dry and was slightly overcooked. There was not a mouthwatering deliciousness from it. The go to move here is the amazing desert milkshakes. They are so fun and very large. I shared one with all 3 of us! Worth it The service was nice and friendly. For dinner, I went with the seasonal burger for October, favoring sweeter elements like the apple-bacon chutney and fried squash rings, a long with smoked Gouda. He got his regular, The Hangover, topped with a fried egg. We split the seasonal Mac and cheese, which included apple braised pulled pork, chile flake, and white cheddar. Delicious and a ton even for two! Our waitress kept a good eye on us even though we were in a corner away from others. It was quieter than I expressed it to be for a Friday night, but I'm glad it wasn't packed. The last time I was here the wait was at least two hours and the food was worth the wait. The waitress was very attentive and was very helpful. I ordered the Lacerated Lemonade. I didn't really taste the alcohol, but I'm sure these are one of those drinks that would hit you hard if you kept drinking them. The burger I got was the "You're the one for me, fatty!" And it was delicious. It was juicy and flavorful. I also had to get the shake of the month while I drove all the way out here. All the shakes look great, but I definitely would recommend sharing one. I rarely give lower than 3 stars...but come on... The burger looked AMAZING! BBQ Pork and Mac and cheese on top! This place does use 3 different types of meat to make their burgers, but the patty is 8 ounces and the taste of meat takes over the burger. It's essentially a meat sandwich. Legit all you taste is meat. Why not a 1/4 pound patty??? Because it would cut down on the average sale...this is all about money and American's need for glutton at every meal. I didn't want a meat sandwich, I wanted a burger that sounded so delicious on the menu and came out pretty gross tasting. Fries are included...but that's because they are horrendous. Any natural fry needs to be blanched and cooked fresh. These fries were cold and limp. The waitress brought me house made chips...but they had a strange sweet flavor and all of the ranch and ketchup didn't make them any better. I wanted to try a milkshake, but my stomach was full of meat and terrible fries and chips. Ugh. read more
