Turkey was slimy and of low quality.Sub was soggy and unappetizing. Seems this place is going downhill.

The food is okay the sandwiches come really throw together and overstuffed. You have no chance of eating this sub cleanly.

I would've loved to have taken a snapshot of the picture-perfect Italian assorted sub that I had made for me today, but sadly it's gone. At first I wasn't sure what happened. Was it so good that I couldn't control myself as I wolfed down the fresh bread, 3 meats, provolone cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, hot peppers, oil, oregano and grated Parmesan without a hint of mayo, just as I had ordered? But why don't I remember that? More importantly, where's my sub?!??? No, impossible. Rather, someone must've clubbed me from behind and run off with that tasty sub. The best subs in Oswego, maybe the planet. My fave is cheeseburger hot with cheddar. But EVERYTHING is good. Hot subs, cold subs... the buffalo chicken and chicken parm are great also. Turkey with everything is a classic. Open super late. Excellent to top off a night of drink,ing great cure for a hangover, or just a yummy lunch. Fries and pickles are very good also. I'm starting to dislike this place because I can't control myself... I can't utter the word "half" when ordering, nor can I stop mid-sub. It's a good thing I don't live in Oswego or I might weight 400 lbs. The remodel inside is great and the ordering system seems more efficient as well. They are running a good business. read more

Oswego Sub Shop is one of those places that you had to have gone to or ordered from at least once throughout your undergraduate or graduate career in SUNY Oswego. They make amazing subs and are conveniently located on the west side of town. I usually order the Eric Cole special, which is a cheeseburger sub (surprise surprise). People aren't lying when they say these cheeseburger subs are the best! Seriously, they have a rather large list of items to choose from, low prices, and convenient location. If you're passing by Oswego towards somewhere else then do yourself a favor and stop here. read more

I like that it's open til 3AM, one of the only food joints that's open late in Oswego. Asked the cashier what were they known for & she said Cheeseburger sub. Ordered that with chili cheese fries. Asked for some water, cashier gave it with no ice & it's room temperature. The cheeseburger sub was no good at all, the flavor, the look of it, everything. The ground meat, looked & tasted horrible. The Chili cheese fries was ok, nothing like CA. They claim they make their own chili here & it wasn't bad. I wouldn't come back here if I visit Oswego again, only if I was really hungry & I would get something else. read more

Same now as it was 16 years ago. Texas hot cheeseburger with the works, is all you need to know. Not much else to say other than you will not be disappointed. Great subs all together but the texas hot cheese with the works is exceptional and original. It's not too often a dish makes you feel nostalgic about it. Great tasting sub and super friendly service. I just ordered a cheese sub so wasn't expecting anything extraordinary. ...but it was! Great food but very bad delivery service. Every time we order food for pick up it's ready within 20 minutes max. Every time I order for delivery it takes atleast 1 hour and 30 minutes. We ordered food at 7:50 and it is 9:13 and it still isn't here. I literally had to change my plans and wait for the delivery. Every time I call they simply tell me it's on its way. I get when a restaurant is busy but this long of a wait is simply not acceptable. read more

Definitely the best subs in Oswego. Their sliced beef with au jus on wick is awesome! I havent had a bad sub from them yet. Dont settle for the "$5 footlong" spend the extra couple bucks and get something quality..you wont be disappointed! TIP: They also have some decent soups! :) read more

Delicious subs, tied only with Garafolos. But, they're so expensive that you could go to a nice sit down restaurant and pay a similar price. $25 for two subs and two orders of fries. That is ridiculous. For like $14 you can get a sub on a whole loaf of Italian bread at Garafolos. Sub shop has amazing food, but just be ready to pay for it. read more

Ok, so the SubShop earns 5 stars for being a College Students dream. Maybe not the best place for a family dinner and not the highest quality ingredients, but the Sub Shop served me very well while I was a student as it has for 1000's of others. The Oswego Sub Shop was a staple during my years as a college student in Oswego. As an alumni, I do pass through Oswego every so often to see how the college and the old town has changed. During a recent trip that brought me through Oswego, I decided to go to the sub shop for old time's sake. The Oswego Sub Shop has been remodeled over the past few years, and it looks nice, much more modern than it did when I was in college over a decade ago. However, the nostalgia that going to the sub shop brings for me was quite nice. While the Oswego Sub Shop has an even bigger menu than what I remember (yet they still have such sandwiches as the Al Roker Special), I had the reliable choice of a cheeseburger sub, which as others have mentioned is not like any other cheeseburger sub you'll find. The mix of ground beef, cheese, something spicy (I think it's crushed red pepper), parmesan cheese and some other ingredients was worth the wait and the long detour out of my way. read more

I got a philly cheesesteak sub from there that was an absolute waste of 11 dollars. It was small, very little "steak"/toppings and over all just a bad sub. Unique shop. The good: Delivery, wide menu, hot and cold sups, fresh bread, cozy dining room, easy parking, local and SUNY ambiance. Friendly crew. Not so good. Really pretty pricey, they stay busy, good for them. Some sandwiches can be pretty light on meats others are over packed with veggies. Better than subway, but on par with them for value. read more

Ahh, the sub shop. Being a Junior at SUNY Oswego, I had to give this place a try. I ordered the highly praised cheeseburger sub with the works. To start off, I thought the bread seemed soggy. But once I bit into my sandwich, it didn't matter. Fresh meat, fresh veggies and then thin bread grew on me. It's more expensive than subway, and I think the sandwiches are smaller, but this place has solid sandwiches. If you're in Oswego, its a must try. This should be 3 1/2 stars but I love Oswego so we ill go for 4. read more

I have been coming here for years and the subs never change just the price. You get what I call a wish sandwich no meat and lots of lettuce. They're food is great but when I called to order at 1:45 they wouldn't deliver even though they close at 3:00am. In a college town that only has 3-4 places open late on weekends this is wild because I've ordered at 2:30am before and they delivered it. I've been going to the Oswego Sub Shop for as long as I can remember. It used to be a Sunday evening regular thing in our family. Tonight will likely be the last time I order from there. I made an order for delivery (2 whole tuna subs with extra peppers on each) and received my total. According to the website, tuna subs are $9.03 a piece. My total was $25.79. When I called the restaurant back, I was rudely cut off and sent to a manager. The manager explained why things were more expensive: extra peppers are $.75 per sub, a single tuna sub is $10.19 and delivery is $2. All of this is fine, but none of it was listed on the online menu. The manager explained that the menu was out of date and that peppers are expensive so they have to charge for them. About 20 minutes later, I awas in the elevator and wasn't getting signal. As I walk outside my building, I get a phone call from the delivery driver telling me he was outside the building. He was parked in the parking lot that was 500 feet away. He got out of his car and started walking towards me. Last I checked, I thought delivery drivers were supposed to deliver to the location requested. This would be the equivalent of ordering to a residential home and having to walk a block away. I brought the subs upstairs and unwrapped one. It was sloppily put together and covered in oil. It was almost inedible as the oil soaked through the roll and the insides were leaking everywhere. I have zero interest in ever going here ever again. It's a waste of money, the quality of the product has slipped and they're nickel and diming long time customers who just want a good sub. Well, if getting a good sub is your goal, avoid The Oswego Sub Shop at all costs. read more

My favorite sub shop! It's not a "real sub" unless it comes from 8th street :) I almost always get a turkey..loaded. Occasionally I try to clim out of my rut and get genoa or seafood salad,which are equally awesome,but ultimately go back to the turkey! The place is legendary, an institution...and lately, not very good. Quality and taste are really inconsistent. Never used to be this way. You always knew what you were getting and it was great. Now operated by the third generation of a family, in a completely remodeled store, quality, taste and even sanitation seem to be forgotten. You just never know what you're going to get when ordering the very same item from visit to visit. With prices now (Spring 2011) up to $8.50 for a whole roast beef sub, there is just no reason at all [not even sentimentality] to visit this place. Absurd, midtown Manhattan pricing for a product that just keeps declining in quality and even size. We tried it again... made sure they didn't put mayo on the Italian this time, and it made a huge difference. It was a very enjoyable sandwich. I heard nothing but amazing things about this place, so I finally ordered.. My sub was sloppily put together, and falling apart with each bite I took. The almost half of a tomato that was thrown on my sub was not even edible. My fries were cold upon arrival.. The potato salad was delicious though.. First impressions are the most important, and I'm disappointed to say that I will not be wasting my money here again. I never write reviews but today I am I ordered a tuna sub for the gf and buffalo tenders for myself got them delivered paid the delivery driver gave him a tip open our bag and the tuna sub was messy you open it up and it's slopped together and my buffalo tenders weren't tossed in sauce like any other time I ask and receive them I called the store spoke to the manager, I myself work in a restaurant and if a customer says something's wrong with the food/service something gets done about it instead she tells me on the phone "their is nothing I can do" great customer service I will not order from you anymore read more

Al Roker, and obviously experienced eater, hosted Good Morning America from in front of this place to tell the world about how much he loves their sandwiches. An all-around great place to get a meal (especially late night after a beverage or two). The cheeseburger hot sub is both unique and exceptional (and also terrible from a healthiness perspective), but the hots sauce rivals the best hots places in Rochester and the toppings the mayo is just a perfect paring (along with the rest of the great toppings). The bread is great, nice and doughy while still maintaing a lightness. The rest of their options are also pretty much amazing, the hot subs are all awesome choices. I ordered and when it got here the fries were cold. Not a big deal. I called back and asked for a credit on the fries. Then it blew up into a situation where they could not give me credit for the fries they wanted to send the driver back out to get the fries and give me new ones. And then the manager said I could not order from there anymore and she would call the police if I called back LOL!! This is the most unprofessional poorly run business I have come across in many many years it's very sad and they will not succeed for much longer if run into the ground by morons. Good luck read more
