    Cerveza El Rey

We are a Wednesday bingo regular and tried the Cerveza El Rey for the first time. What a great brew! If you like dark Mexican style lager, then you will love El Rey!!

Happened to drive by this place on Friday and made a point to seek it out for dinner on Saturday. Positives Friendly and helpful staff Large drinks menu on board IDs required Order food and pick up at window when it's ready. The Jalapeño salad was crunchy, spicy and delicious The hummus plate was amazing! Some of the best hummus I've ever had Outdoor bench seating, indoor communal bar-type table by window, and shared tables provided lots of seating options. Upstairs seating was booked for a speed dating event. Negatives It was loud. Possibly due to the speed dating event on the space above. The outdoor seating area and entire block smell like urine. The town needs to do a better job of keeping public areas clean. Bottom line: great beer, great food, fun atmosphere. I'd definitely go back.

Our team was in town for work. We arrived for beer and some bar/pub-like food.... Very open, spacious with very high ceilings. Not very busy when we arrived (1700 hours). The beer that was recommended was very good! I ordered the fries, and salad; my friend ordered the corn beef sandwich. Unfortunately, the fries were heavily saturated in cheese; we could not see what the other toppings were. The salad was ok.... The corn beef was not very good.... Our other members ordered food as well. Unfortunately for one our members the food was not palatable so he returned it; staff made good on the bad experience by reimbursing him the money which was a very nice touch. There are no TVs to watch sports on...? We don't see ourselves returning.

Santa Cruz vibes in Seaside! The staff are cool and so friendly. They have so many different beers on tap (which your welcome to sample in little shot glasses) and also some available in cans to go in the cooler. I tried their Rice Water, it's a lighter beer, I really liked it and would get it again. I also really like their Pilsners. Love the open air design of the restaurant and patio outside front. Also love that they provide a big selection of games for families to play and hangout with their kids. Their food is really good too. The OG Smash burger was delicious. I love batter fried onions rings and theirs are very good and a big portion too. Although I wish they would offer malt vinegar for the onion rings. I normally don't like waffle fries but these are good, a thicker cut so they're soft in the middle and not super crunchy. We really liked the wings too, not your traditional buffalo wings but I like their spin on it with a dry rub. Upstairs a couple of 50 cent pinball machines and 2 large tables, enough room for a pool table please. We came back for pizza night we got the pepperoni. It was good with a thick pan crust and lot's of cup pepperoni. And they have kombucha on tap, nice. I really appreciate that they provide essentials for the ladies in their bathroom.

Whenever I'm in the area I always make a point to stop in for a beer and some tasty bites. I'm a big sour beer fan and they always have a reliable one on tap. I like that they have board and card games too. Big open space that is great for groups. Service is always friendly. Wish I lived closer!!

Pretty standard local brewery experience. Good eats, decent beer selection, big open seating options, and trivia nights. Food was decent, burgers and stuff. I got the smash burger and it was filling. They take an interesting take on the cheese fries, but they were pretty good. Location wasn't bad, plenty of seating although I could see if getting crowded quickly. Staff was nice, provided good recommendations.

The food really lacks here, hamburgers lack seasoning while the meat portions are not worth the price! The fries are good especially with the sauce however everything seemed cold! The bartenders are very nice and helped me decide on a drink though! The place itself is friendly and open! However, the food is not worth the price tag; only if you enjoy fries.

Nice spot, good food. Parking is the only potentially tricky issue where you park a few blocks away in the public parking lot. Wait staff was extremely nice with nice spacious interior, good vibe music and a small patio seating area. Also does private events. They have events posted on instagram. I will be returning. Good times.

Everything from the many choices of beer and the great customer service , the atmosphere was wonderful. It's our second time in, got their BLT and wow it was the best blt and they let me add advocado. So delicious recommend getting that !! They packed it with bacon ! Can't wait to come back

    Finally vacation!

I forgot to take a photo of the food, but I had a smash burger with cheese and waffle fries. The burger was really good. Slightly juicy. Almost too much but actually good. Grilled onions, sauce on a brioche bun. The veggies were fresh. Lettuce c sliced tomatoes and pickles. Service super friendly. Beer garden vibes for sure. They have a few cider choices and even slushies. Non alcoholic drinks for the kiddos if you have children with you. The beers were good too. Nothing crazy outstanding but yummy. Keep an eye on the ABV, no need to have a headache tomorrow. Impressed with the growth. Worth a visit. SYOY.

The beer is pretty good here. The food since the bakery moved out has definitely changed. It is delicious (bakery was too) and they have have an increased variety now. The beer tenders are all nice and pleasant. You NEED your id to buy beer so be aware and prepared for that. The 1 ding I have on the place is it's just so loud in here even if it's just background music playing. If they installed some sound baffling it would improve the experience so much.

The new patio with a kids berry freezie, tropic desert freezie and a tropic desert kettle sour.

Other Brother Beer is a great spot to grab a beer and a meal on Broadway. Parking is on the street but usually easy to find. There are about 6 picnic bench tables outside in a covered awning, indoor booths, indoor tables, and indoor counter stools facing the street. There is also seating upstairs. Volume is pretty loud inside and out when busy, but not too crazy to bring my kids earlier in the day. I haven't been to the night events (Tuesday trivia, Wednesday Bingo, etc.) but my husband says they are fun, just louder and more crowded as you would expect. They offer a kids freezie drink in addition to two adult freezies that change out. The beers are also seasonal, so if you like something on tap you should grab some tall cans before they are gone. Food has changed quite a bit since they opened but their kitchen makes tasty options when available. Pop ups often happen with outside food, but waits are often pretty long for those events, so just be ready to spend a long visit just in case (the recent ramen pop up ended up taking 2 hours to order and receive food for example). Staff is friendly and quick, and inside is very clean. I don't think the picnic tables get cleaned outside though. Overall a great local spot for beer and bar food!

Every Monterey Trip Starts Here…read more I've been making the drive from San Francisco to Monterey for years, and this has become my traditional first stop before heading into town. Instead of rushing straight to Cannery Row or 17-Mile Drive, I like to slow down, grab a pint, relax for an hour, and then continue the trip. It honestly puts me in vacation mode. If you're an IPA lover, Dust Bowl Brewing Tap Depot is paradise. California has hundreds of craft breweries, and I've visited quite a few over the years. In my opinion, Dust Bowl deserves to be mentioned among the better IPA breweries in the state. What impresses me most isn't just that their beers are bitter. A lot of breweries chase high IBU numbers and end up producing beers that are simply harsh. Dust Bowl understands balance. Their stronger draft IPAs are incredibly layered. One sip starts with bright citrus, then shifts into tropical fruit, grapefruit, pine, resin, floral hops, and sometimes even hints of stone fruit. As the beer slowly warms up, the aroma and flavor continue to evolve. It's almost like drinking a well-crafted fruit blend--except everything comes naturally from the hops. That's what makes great West Coast IPA so enjoyable. Whenever they have one of their high-alcohol, high-IBU specialty IPAs on draft, I order it without hesitation. Those beers alone are worth stopping for. Honestly, if you're serious about IPA, don't just order one pint. Try several different drafts. You'll understand why people keep coming back. The nice surprise is that the rest of their beer lineup is also excellent. Whether you enjoy lagers, pale ales, porters, stouts, or seasonal releases, everything I've tried has been well made and consistently enjoyable. Another thing I appreciate is that this place never feels like a tourist trap. Considering you're in Monterey, the prices are very fair. The beer quality easily justifies what you pay, and the portions are generous. It's simply honest craft beer served by people who clearly care about what they're brewing. The food isn't trying to be fine dining, and that's perfectly okay. It's good, straightforward brewery food that pairs well with beer. Burgers, sandwiches, appetizers, and snacks are exactly what I want while enjoying a couple of pints. The staff has always been friendly every time I've visited. Even when they're busy, they're welcoming, patient, and happy to answer questions or recommend beers if you're unsure what to order. Great service always makes good beer taste even better. For me, Dust Bowl Brewing has become part of every Monterey trip. If you love craft beer, especially West Coast IPA, this place shouldn't just be on your list--it should be one of your destinations. There are plenty of breweries in California. There are plenty of places to drink beer. But if you're an IPA enthusiast like I am, Dust Bowl Brewing is one of those places that reminds you why California became one of the world's great craft beer capitals. Every trip to Monterey starts here. And I can't imagine starting it anywhere else.

Unfortunately, the experience took an awkward turn at seating. We had requested a view and were about to be accommodated when another staff member (auburn hair) interrupted abruptly and loudly, insisting we not be seated up front due to other reservations. It was uncomfortable and felt unprofessional--especially in front of guests. As it turned out, she was our server. Throughout the evening, her demeanor didn't improve and felt out of step with the otherwise welcoming environment. Having spent over 25 years in the industry and as a restaurant owner, I know how important frontline staff are to the guest experience, and this simply didn't reflect the level this place is capable of. That said, this feels like the exception--not the norm. I've had pleasant experiences here before and will return, hopeful that this was just an off moment.

Other than parking challenges on a busy night in the downtown, we were lucky to get a table for 5 relatively quickly, as this place isn't that large, with some additional bar seating, and it seems very popular. 5:30 was a great time, as we watched the waiting line grow longer after we were seated. Our server, Michael J., did a great job of greeting us, providing menus, and taking initial drink orders while we decided what to try. We decided to try BBQ honey wings, fried artichoke hearts, and onion rings for appetizers. The main courses were two orders of kids' cheese pizza and tater tots, a small dinner salad, a cup of New England-style clam chowder, and a NY Steak sandwich. The food came in a reasonable time, with appetizers and salad first, then the rest. The apps were good, but the onion rings were a bit greasy. The honey wings were well-liked, as well as the artichoke hearts, which, strangely, were not oily like the onion rings. Yummy! The cheese pizzas paired with tater tots were certainly different, but the pizza was more like a reheated frozen pizza. The tots were okay. The NY Steak sandwich was good as well, with a side of steak fries - obviously! Overall, we enjoyed the meal and would definitely consider dining here in the future when in town.
