Stammtisch is a Seaside treasure that you must visit. Stammtisch is an authentic German experience through and through. Husband runs the front, Frau runs the kitchen, the beer is cold and fresh, the decor puts smack in the middle of a German gasthof, the food is legit German and tasty (and filling), und the service is spectacular. We almost always get bier, but the wine selection is good. One of us almost always gets the Jaegerschnitzel, and the socials are worth it. All menu items are authentic and flavorful. Viele Danke as always to Stammtisch for hosting us when we have a birthday, or other special occasion, or when we just want some good, German food, ambience, beer, and kindness.

There's no dining experience quite like this in the Monterey County. Food was incredible, like a home cooked German meal. The ambiance was great, down to every little detail. Both owners spent time greeting and checking with every table. This was my first time but it was obvious that there are some very happy regulars (also they take almost primarily reservations on the weekends which is telling as to the quality of both the food and service). My partner said the red caggage tasted just like his grandmother used to make, who was born and raised in Germany and a gourmet cook. Will definitely come back!

My hubby and i have been wanting to try this place for many years now. We first found it on yelp a few years ago while visiting the area and when we tried to go, they were too busy for walk ins. We tried 1-2 more times on different trips and again were turned town because they were too busy. We finally got a table this time we were visiting Monterey. They have very limited seating and only use half the restaurant which is about 10 tables. The restaurant is run fully by the chef and her husband who are both wonderful and very hospitable. the husband runs the front of the restaurant and services the guests and the wife is the chef. The restaurant is in an offbeat location near some plazas. The building itself looks like an office building next to some old apartment buildings. The interior are super cute and feels like you've been transported to a cute German country side to visit your German grandmother. The decor makes you feel warm and at home and comfy. We got medium sized stein beers to start. The lager was wonderful and my hubby had a dark beer. We ordered just one dish to share since we weren't super hungry and the dishes were large portions. We got the red cabbage stewed beef special. The Beef was was so tender and soft and delicious. The gravy had deep flavors but not too overwhelming. It had the perfect balance of flavor and paired nicely with the potatoes. The food is dense because it's mainly meats with potatoes and small side of cabbage. The only vegetables they have are slaw and pickled cabbage which were all authentic and delicious. Chef Claudia came to greet the guests and talked to us for a bit since it was a slow night. The couple were retired already and only run the restaurant for fun. They do it because they love their restaurant but that's one of the reasons they only host half the restaurant and have limited days and hours. Her concept is for everyone to enjoy a home cooked meal from a German grandmother and cook her hometown traditional recipes. We highly enjoyed our time at the restaurant and hope to come back again to try their sampler plate next time! Hopefully we'll make our way back here our next trip.

The best Rindsroulade! Amazing German food and a great atmosphere. No need to fly to Germany with Stammtisch in Seaside.

This restaurant currently accepts reservations only. If you want to eat here call a few days ahead to confirm availability. I ate here with my Mother on May 2, 2024 and it was very good. We ordered the Jaegerschnitzel and Schnitzel Weiner Art. The meat was delicious and the potatoes were perfect. Service was excellent and I will return in the near future.

This place has the best German food that I've had in California. Claudia is the Chef & Erwin runs the front of house. Always warm and inviting. Claudia comes out the table towards the end of your meal to say hello. I make a reservation every time I know I'll be passing through! Very important: Make a Reservation, their seat is limited each night.

OMG!! Yum!! Must come back again This is a must go to German restaurant in the town of Seaside which is about 15 minutes north of Downtown Monterey and the Monterey Bay Aquarium. This German food is so good that you'd think you were in a small town in Germany. Beautiful arrangement of each entree. We ordered three Jaegerschnitzel (generous portion of crispy pork cutlet that covered almost 3/4 of a plate pounded to just the right thickness served with sliced, crispy potatoes, two kinds of sauerkraut and marinated shredded carrots. We also had the pork loin roast with a potato dumpling and two kinds of sauerkraut. Everything was spectacular and so delicious. Enough leftovers from jaegerschnitzel to enjoy for a light lunch. We also enjoyed a freshly made Black Forest Cake. Fresh cream alternated with chocolate cake and cherries. Oh so good!! Give this lovely restaurant a try..,reservations are highly recommended. All tables were reserved when we arrived for our 5:45 reservation. Come here soon..this is a hidden gem that needs to be discovered sooner rather than later!

Prosit!

A Yelp find! The last time we had German food this good (authentic) was in Munich a few years ago. Seriously, the best German restaurant we've found on the West Coast. Irwin and Claudia deliver an exceptional German dining experience from the decor to the menu. We started with the salad which had a traditional mix of red cabbage, carrots, cucumber, and dill. Excellent. The meal offerings were too hard to choose from, so I went with the sampler platter. A mix of schnitzel, sauerbraten and gravy, nürnberger sausages, and potatoes: SUPERB!! My wife had the special which was a smoked pork chop in an onion gravy with mashed potatoes. Wow. They also serve Hofbrãu and König on tap, which was so welcome after a day of golf. Finally, the warm and friendly service by Irwin and Claudia made our experience exceptional. Cheers! RS

While my car was in the shop, I wandered around Obama Way because the redevelopment has been amazing. Other Brother is one of the high points in this neighborhood & offers a nice anchor to the smaller storefronts. Seating is designed for groups with large booths or cafeteria-style tables. There's an al fresco option and garage door-style window seating indoors where one can watch the al fresco diners! Overall, fun concept; but not really a friendly place for one person who wants good food, quiet space, and room to read a book. Order before sitting. Menu is small & offers pub-style dining options with a gourmet CA twist. **Special Note: cooking oil is RICE BRAN & it's delicious, so order the tater tots & be prepared to toss out your epi-pen while having your taste buds delighted! The oil must be light, so the tots were crispy with a sweetness that highlighted the potato flavor. OMG... I'm drooling as a write this review & craving more of the rice bran cooking oil tater tots! I had the BLT without mayo (just in case it contained my allergen). The bread, giant butter lettuce leaf, & thick hunks of tomato ensured the the sandwich was moist. The bacon was quite thick & delicious. I don't drink beer, but when in Rome... I ordered the baby beer glassful of beer. Dunno what it was -- something that looked like water & had a few earthy tasting bubbles. It was good. Really good. Great suggestion, Bartender! I had to pick up my meal from the window & was treated to a serenade by the kitchen crew. Lovely. From a health & safety perspective, the design is neat & super clean. Ladies!! Special treat in the bathroom... Other Brother management recognizes our special hygiene needs & offers a basket filled with supplies. OMG! This was better than dessert!! Other Brother loves us. Parking: street parking at no charge, but busy times might mean you have a short walk. The 'hood is nice & very clean. BRING YOUR ID. It's a BEER joint. Don't blame the restaurant staff for doing their job & carding everyone.

Every Monterey Trip Starts Here…read more I've been making the drive from San Francisco to Monterey for years, and this has become my traditional first stop before heading into town. Instead of rushing straight to Cannery Row or 17-Mile Drive, I like to slow down, grab a pint, relax for an hour, and then continue the trip. It honestly puts me in vacation mode. If you're an IPA lover, Dust Bowl Brewing Tap Depot is paradise. California has hundreds of craft breweries, and I've visited quite a few over the years. In my opinion, Dust Bowl deserves to be mentioned among the better IPA breweries in the state. What impresses me most isn't just that their beers are bitter. A lot of breweries chase high IBU numbers and end up producing beers that are simply harsh. Dust Bowl understands balance. Their stronger draft IPAs are incredibly layered. One sip starts with bright citrus, then shifts into tropical fruit, grapefruit, pine, resin, floral hops, and sometimes even hints of stone fruit. As the beer slowly warms up, the aroma and flavor continue to evolve. It's almost like drinking a well-crafted fruit blend--except everything comes naturally from the hops. That's what makes great West Coast IPA so enjoyable. Whenever they have one of their high-alcohol, high-IBU specialty IPAs on draft, I order it without hesitation. Those beers alone are worth stopping for. Honestly, if you're serious about IPA, don't just order one pint. Try several different drafts. You'll understand why people keep coming back. The nice surprise is that the rest of their beer lineup is also excellent. Whether you enjoy lagers, pale ales, porters, stouts, or seasonal releases, everything I've tried has been well made and consistently enjoyable. Another thing I appreciate is that this place never feels like a tourist trap. Considering you're in Monterey, the prices are very fair. The beer quality easily justifies what you pay, and the portions are generous. It's simply honest craft beer served by people who clearly care about what they're brewing. The food isn't trying to be fine dining, and that's perfectly okay. It's good, straightforward brewery food that pairs well with beer. Burgers, sandwiches, appetizers, and snacks are exactly what I want while enjoying a couple of pints. The staff has always been friendly every time I've visited. Even when they're busy, they're welcoming, patient, and happy to answer questions or recommend beers if you're unsure what to order. Great service always makes good beer taste even better. For me, Dust Bowl Brewing has become part of every Monterey trip. If you love craft beer, especially West Coast IPA, this place shouldn't just be on your list--it should be one of your destinations. There are plenty of breweries in California. There are plenty of places to drink beer. But if you're an IPA enthusiast like I am, Dust Bowl Brewing is one of those places that reminds you why California became one of the world's great craft beer capitals. Every trip to Monterey starts here. And I can't imagine starting it anywhere else.
