    Pizzette Karbonara

Amazing pizza and awesome service! We met with some family here for lunch and a few beers. Hops and Fog is definitely the local spot to be at, it filled up quickly after we sat down. I ordered a Dark Horse seltzer from Crow and Wolf and three pizzas for the table; the Return of the fun guy (mushroom pizza), the TMNT, a 3 cheese pizza, and the PIzzette karbonara. All of the pizzas were excellent, but my favorite was the PIzzette karbonara. This was such a unique flavor combo a brick over pie with miso carbonara sauce, mozzarella, shaved guanciale (pork), grated pecorino, black sesame crumble topped with runny fried egg. I could not get enough of this pie; the miso sauce paired with pecorino and a runny egg was delicious! They use a blonde or white miso in the sauce and it added a deep umami flavor. My kids inhaled the cheese pizza and everyone loved the mushroom pizza and the black truffle sauce that was drizzled on it. Hops and Fog has a front outdoor patio section and small outdoor back area. It's small inside, but there's a handful of tables, a couch, and booths. Street parking is free, but is only good for two hours.

What a gem of a brewery/pub in delightful Pacific Grove. TIKI DAVE ordered the Hazy IPA first (Tela Haze) and it was bursting with juicy goodness. Next I had the regular 'ol IPA (American Beauty) and that was delicious as well. We visited on a Sunday afternoon during the weekend of my 35th High School Reunion weekend. We were flying out the next day before they opened and the pizzas looked so incredible that we ordered THREE to take home to L.A. right then and there. Hops & Fog's menu is surprisingly extensive, including apps, salads & soups, sandwiches and absolutely amazing pies. We ordered the Nueva Margherita ($17) with marinara, stracciatella, parm and fresh basil...The Legend ($24) with marinara, pepperoni, calabrese, Italian sausage, ricotta cheese, garlic cloves and a sweet/hot sherry glaze....and the daily special with white sauce, green beans, squash blossoms... They were all incredible, even the next day, heated up in the oven. I am a pizza snob and I could tell this place puts out amazing pizza. The crust had wonderful flavor, a good chew and the toppings were amazing. I loved all of them but man, that Legend was SICK. TIKI DAVE & TIKI DAVE'S TERRIFIC TRIPS highly highly highly recommends Hops & Fog Brewing Company! They were even gracious enough to display my business cards! If you didn't get one, please follow me on social media (Facebook & Instagram) and feel free to DM me with any questions at all!

We were all really hungry when we got there, so maybe anything we ate would've been fine, but we were super happy to have amazing food at Hops and Fog! The Bruschetta with Tomato Jam! The Rocket Power Pannuozzo with Hummus! OMG just outstanding flavors. Didn't have any beer, and they don't offer soda. Will definitely return when we're back in town.

I've been meaning to visit here for ages, glad I finally did. I'm a huge fan of this place. The vibe is lively and chill. Service is lovely. Solid selections of beverages. I had a pizza with non-dairy cheese. The crust was outstanding, with a great chew, just-right char, some of the better thin-crust pizza I've had. My one constructive suggestion is they could up their non-dairy cheese game. The binders in standard non-dairy cheese have a subpar texture when they melt. Miyoko's makes a fabulous cashew-based mozzarella pizza cheese that eschews binders and is a dense liquid rather than solid, and it's a remarkably good substitute for real mozzarella di bufala. Local chain Pizza My Heart uses it, and I wish more restaurants did, and I'm on a one-man mission to nudge them to at least consider it. But either way, I'll be back, as the Terminator famously said.

Return of the fun guy (fungi pizza)

8.7 Pizza was excellent and definitely worth trying! We ordered the Nueva Margherita and the Return of the Fun Guy (fungi pizza), and both were fantastic. Starting with the Return of the Fun Guy, this pizza featured black truffle velouté, mozzarella, a medley of mushrooms, hazelnuts, and tarragon pesto. The flavor was rich, savory, and incredibly satisfying. The truffle and mushroom combination worked perfectly together, creating a well-balanced pizza that wasn't overly heavy. The tarragon pesto was a pleasant surprise, especially since I'm usually not a huge pesto fan. My only minor criticism is that I would have liked a few more mushrooms on the pizza, but overall it was outstanding. The star of the meal was the Nueva Margherita. This elevated take on a traditional Margherita pizza came topped with house marinara, stracciatella, Parmesan, and fresh basil. The addition of the creamy stracciatella brought the pizza to another level and made every bite incredibly flavorful. The sauce was bright and fresh, the cheese was rich and plentiful, and the basil tied everything together perfectly. This is an absolute must-order. Service was fast, friendly, and attentive throughout our visit. The ambiance leans more toward a lively bar atmosphere with close seating. Overall, both pizzas were delicious. I'd happily order either one again and highly recommend giving them a try.

the legend & the pesto artichoke pizzas, homemade ranch, and pg passion sour beer

Stayed nearby and decided to come over for dinner. Very lively on a Wednesday night with a cozy atmosphere. The service was great, you order and pay at the bar before the food is brought to you. The pizzas did take a bit to come out, but when they did, they were amazing! The legend pizza was delicious, with a tasty hot honey flavor. We paired this with the homemade ranch, which was okay -- it kind of reminded us of sour cream. The crust was also a bit flimsy by the time we got to the last piece. The pesto artichoke pizza was our favorite, so refreshing and flavorful! The lemon on it was great without being overpowering. My boyfriend also looooved his beer, the PG Passion Sour! Definitely recommend for anyone in the area!!

    Prosciutto and melon (2 orders)

    - plenty of side and street parking - small interior but we got to to and ate by the beach! (1) the legend pizza - loved this! So so yummy. The dough was perfectly floppy, thin, and had a flavor like sourdough? The tomato sauce underneath had an acidic kick which paired well with the salty meats and creamy cheese topping (2) prosciutto and melon - average dish it was a good refreshing starter, the oil drizzled on top was a little too much for me!

What a great local pizza place! Their dough is soooo good, that's where it all starts. But then mix that with amazing toppings, it's a win-win every time! And then there's the beer, not only do they have some great brews of their own, they also feature beers from other local brewers that know what they're doing as well! We ordered the Lemon Artichoke Pesto and the Legend, both were amazing and were full of flavor and amazing topping combinations. The service was fast and the bartenders had great personalities and made you feel at home. I liked the place so much, I bought the t-shirt! The place has a great vibe, with many locals hanging out and meeting there. Don't even think about it, just go, you'll love it.

Stopping by if you're in the area, the pizza is great. The ambience is great. Everything about it is great. Come on by. If you're ever in the area, you'll find me, Biff, Tony, Jolina, and Chito.

    Margarita Pizza

We loved this place, we ordered a Margarita Pizza to go and had a slice of their bruschetta and the olives while we waited. Service was great!

Panuozzo: Basically a pizza crust with sandwich ingrediants inside, ate way more than I should have

Perfect lunch in Pacific Grove. We love this area of Monterey and after a recent trip to the aquarium we came here for lunch and then took the kids to the Great Tidepool area of Alisomar State beach. It's located on that main street where all the main restaurants are in Pacific Grove and we really felt like pizza this day. The big thing I want to point out is there dough, it really reminded me of Italian dough, a very deceptively simple taste but a perfect slight chewiness amplified by cooking at very high heat. I dont like crust or dough that much and normally ripe the crust off pizza but I ate every bite here! Toward the back you can see an area where the beer is brewed on site. Panuozzo: Basically a pizza crust with sandwich ingrediants inside. Calabrese, black forest ham, romaine, pickled peppers, tomato, red wine vinegar. The size was pretty large so I split it with my wife and it was so good I ate the large piece she couldn't finish it. Stevo Supreme Pizza: House marinara, Italian sausage, red onion jam, mushrooms, mozzarella, Parmesan. The red onion jam made this a bit more "special" and gave it a unique taste. Would repeat! They seem to change u their pizza menus often. Gem Salad with Hazelnuts: We didn't even have to force the kids to eat this, it was SO good. In the future we would order 2 of these for family of 4. Bee's Knees Honey Blonde Ale: Very good paired with their pizza! And brewed right on site! Service was excellent, we had help very quickly after sitting down and we saw every staff member help rearrange chairs and tables to accommodate a large group.

This was my favorite meal on this trip to Carmel/Monterey. The food is exceptionally high quality, and so is the local beer and cider. Everything we got was finger-licking good and beautifully presented (see pics). The house-made focaccia bread with garlic butter is addictive! Service is exceptional. It felt like we were visiting friends. Two thumbs way up!!

This is an update/reply to owner on 4/1:…read more I think your reply to me here is making matters worse. You're refusing to take accountability for the fact that you hired an individual who is extremely obnoxious, mouthy, and disrespectful to a customer who is having a problem due to a combination of factors - one being that you closed early on a weekend night, and the other being that a third-party service is failing to do a good job. A third-party service I might add who you have chosen to do business with. As a small business owner myself, as you pointed out, I can assure you, I will never hire a person and allow them to work at my front desk who has the audacity to treat customers as rudely as your employee did. The largest offense here was the behavior of your employee and that is the one thing you have failed to address. There are solutions to the problems you were having - one is as simple as writing a note on your door, letting your customers know that you've chosen to close early that day. Another is refusing to do business with a third-party who is making matters worse rather than better for your business. But the most important thing here is having the care And attention that is required to not hire people capable of being so rude to your customers. Your employee did not make that offer of a pizza until we pointed out that he could have done something better to address the situation rather than giving mouth. But the point here is, we did not want pizza at that time. We wanted the night before when we were in a jam, and by that point, our trust in the food at your store was completely shattered. Because if a person makes a decision to hire someone that is so rude to customers, they may also make the decision to hire a cook who spits in your food. And anyone who fails to understand or address the unacceptable behavior of their employees when it is necessary is indeed a one star establishment. This is an update: A person from Pizza My Way called me a day after I posted my original 1-star review. She was friendly and helpful, and ultimately refunded the $40. I appreciated that. So I brought my review up to 3 stars. However, the situation was seriously unacceptable. Businesses have a responsibility to hire people who are going to treat customers with respect and who are capable of responding to problems created by decisions of the restaurant and their policies. This was a stressful experience and my wife and I walked away feeling very disrespected and initially $40 poorer with no pizza and no solution. The young person working for them has no business treating customers who pay a whopping $40 for a pizza that way- and his behavior being tolerated makes it impossible for me to give the restaurant another chance - so I cannot give an honest review of their food only their service. Maybe if someday I get a call that they have let said employee go they can regain my trust and I'll give them a try because their right up the street, and perhaps I can become a regular customer since I'm so close and they can get a higher rating from me. Originally posted 5/15: Worst pizza experience on the Monterey Peninsula by far. The place just randomly closes on a Saturday night well before their posted closing time. I order for pick up, spend over $40 for one large pizza which is absolutely crazy. I mean other people might think that's normal but I think that's crazy. That doesn't matter. I was in a jam and I had to get my kids some food and was not able to get back home and cook because of an emergency at work. In any case, I pay for the pizza online and then I called to confirm and there's no answer. I call multiple times. I show up to the store in person at around 8:35, 25 minutes before they are supposed to take their last order, and the whole place is dark. The next day, I am assured by the person I speak to on the phone that I will be refunded. Later on that day, I double checked to make sure that's true and it looks like they withdrawn the money from my bank account. So I called back and the person I speak to on the phone refuses to give me their name, they take absolutely no accountability for the situation, and offer absolutely no solution. So I spent $40 on pizza I never received, I was completely unable to get the attention of the manager, and my wife, and I both had to endure rudeness, extreme rudeness from their staff. When I walked in to restate my reasonable request to no avail, the person on staff was recording me on his phone. I don't get it. I'm the customer and I've already spent money and I still haven't received any product from them. It's nothing personal. When you're closing well before you posted hours on a weekend night, when you've got some cockamamie ordering system that you've built into your website, when you can't be accountable to your customers that spend money or even polite, you deserve the bad reputation that follows.

I love they you can do half flavors here! This deep dish was soooo saucy and cheesy with a light yet crispy crust that was easy to bite through. Each bite had a crazy cheese pull. My favorite was the Heirloom because I enjoyed the veggies in the pizza, but my boyfriend liked the heritage more (tons of meat). Keep in mind that if you don't like tomatoes, this pizza is probably not for you because the tomato sauce is much thicker than a thin crust pizza. We got here at around 7PM on a Saturday. Beware that the deep dish takes a minimum of about 30 minutes to come out. Ours took 40 minutes. I wish the server told us this to warn us, as I overheard this from nearby customers who were complaining about the wait. The place is quite casual with both indoor and outdoor seating. Overall: 4.4/5

When we arrived the place was busy but the line moved fast. We were told our food would take about 30 minutes but it came much faster than that. We ordered the 12 inch pepperoni and it was great. It was hot, fresh, and a good portions of toppings. I'm now glad to know it's an area chain as I'll visit another location next time I see one.

It took us a half hour to get thru that short line. 1) the guy cutting the pizza talked more then he worked. He kept bs'ing and talking so much. By then there was a line out the door. 2) this girl is too Immature, poor customer service, rude and should NOT be your 1st line of defense. She talked more then she rang people up. She rung us up, crumpled up our receipt and didn't even say thank you.. she was rude,, and seriously needs training!! We had to ask her for a copy of our receipt and then she had an attitude!!! Seriousely..... 3) Whoever the manager is of this facility needs to seriously do a review of their employees, Train them to be more professional, And expedite service a lot better than people waiting for a half an hour for a slice of pizza. You're losing money cause people get tired of waiting . I've seen people at the end of the line just leave and walk away.Waiting for a slice of pizza is unacceptable!!
