The server Jacari was both professional and had a great sense of humor. Finding a kitchen open after 9 pm is a bit of a challenge especially on a Monday night. Theirs is open until 10, and the place closes at 11 during the week. They have Monday night specials for a great deal. Sadly everything seems to be prepared with pepper.

Place is amazing just like you walked into a British pop. They have a nice bar area where you can eat at or the dining area or even outside area. The staff are very knowledgeable and friendly and the food comes out fast and it's always amazing if there were a couple times. A must try if in the area.

Such a wonderful spot for English fare. The ambiance was so nice and made you feel like you were dining in a real English pub. The food was delicious and our teenage boys were very impressed with the food and decor. Now, i is saying something when our teenage boys are impressed. This is definitely a place we would come back to when craving some English food!

This bar looked like a locals place to hang out. We had dinner by the bar. Dinner was interesting. Not our favorite. Service was okay. Not much else to say.

One of favorites in Monterey! Definitely awesome food! Classic comfort food made right. Today we had the spicy meatloaf (not really spicy)and steak and mushroom pie... both omg amazing! Good size entrees, plenty of gravy, right temperature, excellent flavor. We also had a wonderful server... Kara. She helped by recommending the perfect drink fir the hubby. He wanted something different... tried a sample, and decided to get a black and tan. With Guinness and old speckled hen. Great beer, smooth flavor. Definitely a must try... very unique inside! Nice booths and great bar area!

My boyfriend and I randomly came here for dinner last night. He found this spot on Yelp, and I was down for some fish & chips. We found parking at the garage nearby which payment is not required after 6pm. We waited about 15 minutes for a table, which a server needed to wipe it down first before she could seat us. The place was decked out in holiday decor. So festive! My bf got the Bloody Mary and George Iii Steak & Mushroom Pie. I got the Caramel Apple Martini and Fish & Chips. He really liked the Bloody Mary, which he said that they don't play. lol it was spicy & strong. He also enjoyed the steak and mushroom pie; he said it was comforting. My drink was sweet and lovely. I loved the fries as they're were both soft, crunchy, and delicious! The server recommended the Sticky Toffee Pudding, and it was my first time having it. It was AMAZINGLY yummy! Sweet, hot, toffee pudding paired with cold tasty vanilla ice cream and a side of whipped cream. My only gripe is there's no music. I wish there was music playing. I just hear a lot of chitter chatter from the people. I would definitely return again whenever I'm in the area. :)

A cool place with friendly staffs and British theme decorations. Kids and pets friendly and they have outdoor seating with covers. We had their lamb shank and mushroom pie and some beers. Lamb shank was tasty but it was lukewarm when it arrived at the table; would have been better if it's hot, which would make each bite more tender. Food was reasonably priced though. They have daily specials, will need to come back to give them a try next time.

Went out for lunch with my dive buddy to celebrate passing our open water certification (yay!!!!) and landed on Crown and Anchor. The British themed pub idea was very cool and we chose a spot in the back patio as the weather was beautiful that day. We ordered the fried artichokes (the best fried artichokes I've ever had!!), a crab and prawn sandwich, and some beers to wash it all down. Really delicious meal and kind staff, would definitely visit again if in Monterey in the future!

The fish and chips were so good! The crisp, the flavor of the batter, the texture, all so perfect. The New York steak sandwich was also very good. We ordered a spicy meatloaf to share because I had to try it. Now, the word "spicy" didn't mean hot, but more full of different spices. Different from your typical home style meatloaf, but full of paprika, cumin, pepper, with a strong body for such a fluffy loaf. Our waiter was super sweet and the vibe was literally the cutest. Halloween decor mixed with a undergrad British pub feel. All was good and we will be back again.

New York Steak Sandwich and Crown & Anchor Burger

7.6/10 Ordered the New York Steak Sandwich and the Crown & Anchor Burger. Overall, the meal was just okay and unfortunately a bit underwhelming. Starting with the Crown & Anchor Burger, it ended up being the best item we ordered, though it still wasn't anything particularly memorable. The burger itself lacked seasoning and flavor, and while it was slightly juicy, it didn't really stand out. The bacon was the highlight, perfectly crisp and well-cooked, which added some needed texture. Other than that, it was a pretty standard house barbecue-style burger without any special sauce or elements to make it unique. Next was the New York Steak Sandwich, which had similar issues. The steak itself really needed more seasoning, especially salt, as it tasted fairly flat. The garlic roll didn't complement the sandwich very well and felt like an odd pairing for the steak. On top of that, the sandwich had an excessive amount of onions and sauce, which ended up overpowering the steak rather than enhancing it. Overall, it just lacked balance and flavor throughout. The small side salad was actually one of the better parts of the meal, it was fresh and light, though that's not saying a whole lot compared to the rest of the dishes. Service was decent; our waiter was friendly and attentive enough during the visit. The ambiance felt like a typical pub setting fairly dark and casual.

WHAT A GEM! The service was amazing! The food was amazing! The beer selection was amazing! They had one of my favorite beers and some hard to find cocktail options! I ordered the steak and mushroom pie. Was not disappointed! The decor is great too! What an experience! Highly recommend and will definitely be back!

Great food and Attentive service. Nice ambiance. Excellent steak and mushroom pie! Great selection of beers on tap and a fun place to watch the World Cup!

Fantastic experience--chowder was rich and creamy and the mussels were plump! Husband ordered the short rib special French dip and the meat was so tender it melted in your mouth. Service was quick and refills were fast! We loved that it was a mix of local and tourists and there was so much to look at! We would go back anytime!

I understand that it was a pub but the food was really tasteless. The chef needs to improve the taste of the dishes.

There were lots of indoor and outdoor seating options to choose from, including booths, high tables, and seats at the bar. In winter, it felt even hotter in the partially covered patio than inside, with fire pits at some tables and heaters up above. So we decided on sitting outside. There was also live music happening in the back room on this holiday evening, which was cool to check out. The art and decor in the restaurant was quirky and added character to the place. What's more, the staff was friendly and helpful and provided outstanding service throughout the evening. We got the cockney chicken pie, blackened rock cod, cup of clam chowder, and to drink, a lemon drop cocktail and big sur golden (draught beer). The only thing salty was the lemon drop, as they put salt on the rim instead of sugar. But it was still tasty and made well otherwise. The food was delicious, full of flavor without all the sodium. I especially enjoyed the creamy and savory chicken pie with a flaky crust on top and lightly seasoned veggies. The clam chowder was quite good too. It tasted fresh and was very satisfying. As it turns out, our final meal of 2025 was a good one!

I was so thrilled to check this pub out especially with our doggie, Meatball the Bulldog! How perfect right? A Bulldog at The Bulldog Sports Pub. We snagged the last available booth, and it had crumbs on there. Not clean. SMH. I went to the bar to order some drinks for my boyfriend and me since he left his wallet in the car. It was raining that night, and we parked several blocks away. The service was okay. I remember the guy bartender said $29something, but then he charged me $30something. I got the Jalapeno Margarita while my boyfriend had the Tito's Mule. My drink was very sweet with a kick of jalapeno while his was pretty good. They had music playing. It seems that there is a modern jukebox where you can pay to pick a song. There was one pool table for people to play. So many people came up to pet Meatball and give him so much attention. He absolutely loved it! There was one guy who asked if he can say "Hi" to Meatball, and we said that it was okay like we normally do. This weirdo was basically making out with Meatball; not cool at all man. Then Meatball flipped on his back, and he was holding Meatball. My boyfriend told him to let go of Meatball. It was such an uncomfortable interaction. Not normal at all. He even said, "This is my NYE kiss!" SMDH. The guy sat down at a table that is across from us, and he kept looking at us. We quickly finished our drinks, and then we left to ring in the new year at our hotel lobby instead. We should have just hung out in our hotel lobby instead of going out; it was much better there.

Our waitress Rachel was great and took good care of us. We ordered the French dip (added Swiss, onions, and mushrooms) solid sandwich, though it could've used a touch more salt. The real star though, was the fish and chips. Genuinely some of the best I've ever had. Lightly battered, flaky, perfectly cooked. The fish and chips is the ultimate meal. The burger was savory, soft and creamy just he right amount. It perfectly paired with the Talbott pinot noir they recommended. The only comment is make is the amount of French fries that were served with the burger. The plate was a lot larger looking because a sparse amount of fries was served alongside. Maybe add a little more next time just to balance it off. The servers/bartenders knew their stuff. They provided what they could in terms of what was popular and well liked. They said both items we ordered were the most popular. The fish and chips have won best fish and chips 3 years in a row. I would agree with this since I usually am not wowed with this dish. I couldn't resist ordering a dessert. The applied tart with vanilla ice cream was so satisfying. Overall service, food quality and experience was very good.
