We visited Otherlands Beer when we heard they were participating in Vegfest and wow were we impressed. We ordered the beet reuben (modified to be vegan) and mushroom po boy. Holly molly was it delicious!! Both sandwiches had so much flavor especially the mushroom po boy. This has got to be one of the best vegan sandwiches I've ever had. The breading on the mushrooms was unlike anything I've ever tasted. We really hope they keep this as a permanent option on their menu. I'll be back if they do!! We also ordered their saison beer which was perfectly tart and refreshing. All in all amazing food and beer selections. Please keep all those amazing vegan options on your menu. read more

Since I'm not a beer drinker, I will comment on the food. I had the summer corn salad, which I think is now off the menu because it was seasonal. But if it's any indication of the taste and quality of the rest of the menu items, whatever you select will be wonderful. read more

We are locals and brought a group this time for an amazing lunch. Orders included the roasted root vegetable and farro salad, the beet reuben, carrot soup, and deluxe falafel. I needed to kill some time while I waited for my car to be serviced. I showed up a little before they opened but they were super friendly and accommodating. I really liked the beers I had and their street frites (I ordered Belgian style) are delicious. They have outdoor seating and it was a very pleasant time killer. I'll be back! read more

The chef is aaaaaamazing! Everything is vegetarian and usually I find that limiting and boring. But here I find it fantastic! I crave their Smoked Beet Rueben. Their frites are not from some frozen bag but legit - and the curry sauce for dipping brings me right back to Berlin. And I haven't even mentioned their beers which i think are the best in BHam - especially since I'm not an IPA person and while they have IPAs, they have a much more broad selection. read more

5*' stars for the beer....Some Soft Returning Kellerbier...& I'm not a big beer drinker. Also, nice to have a 1/2 beer instead of one I couldn't finish. Had the West of Philly Grinder. Should have looked more carefully as it's served on a large bun, but I just took the top off & ate it open faced. Took the salad home for later. Only complaint is that I'm pretty sure the beer cheese might be from a squeeze bottle...? But the sautéed veggies were quite good. Nice quiet outdoor seating...bring your dog. Great brewery, honestly one of the best I've ever been to, and I've been to a lot. We're spoiled with beer in Bellingham, so it is saying something when I believe it's the best in town. Yeah, I favor European style lagers, and we have multiple world class breweries in town that have won awards for their lagers, but the beers here tell a story, they bring up memories, and have something different. The first sip of Helles often reminds me of walking down the streets of Bamberg. Plus, the food is amazing! Their chef creates some of the best dishes I've ever had. Not to mention the owners are both very friendly and caring people. We live in the neighborhood, and have been lucky to have them right down the street during COVID. They have not only provided an environment where everyone can feel comfortable, but also safe. We're so happy to have them within walking distance! read more

Yummmm! This place blew me away! First the service was amazing. So friendly and patient with our party which had a million questions about the menu and beers. Needless to say we all ordered the same thing (pitas and fries) and it was so good. I haven't had a unique, flavorful meal in Bellingham in a while. This is a quirky vegetarian brewery with a seasons menu that has an Eastern European flair to it. Sound weird? That's Bellingham for you! Service was a bit slow, but the wait staff was very friendly. I loved the relaxed vibe here. Everyone was very friendly -- there were lots of people outside with dogs and several customers who were clearly regulars. I'm not in Bellingham on a regular basis, but I would definitely come back the next time I'm in town. read more

Wonderful establishment serves up small town charm with phenomenal beer. We were greeted quickly and warmly and escorted to a table by the bar where we were immediately served water and introduced to the beer and food menus by an extremely competent and professional server. They don't serve a beer flight but you can order beer by the half glass. I ordered 3 half glasses and every beer I had was well crafted, unique and perfect for the weather. We also ordered the pirogi and BOOYAH! This simple dish was humble in its presentation and true to form but let me say that it is what all pirogi should be. The quintessential pirogi. My only complaint is that I buy a hat from every brewery that has good beer and I have a hat from almost every brewery in Bellingham. They haz no ball cap. Now I am all peepee hearted and will continue to wear the best fitting beer hat in Bellingham from Kulshan and second best, Chuckanut or Stemma. Damn good beer. read more

Ate outside had a beer. It was good, the borscht was outstanding. The potato pancakes were not actually pancakes, but they were pretty good for being way too thick. The perogies were okay too... flavorless but satisfying as they filled us up... service was pretty good. All in all a pleasant experience. read more

I finally got to try this place after months of anticipation and the wait was definitely worth it! I'm already planning a return within the next few days. Both the beer (hefeweizen, amber kellerbier, saison, and widlflower IPA) and the food (pretzel w/ beer cheese, frites, west of philly grinder, and potato cheese pierogies) were phenomenal. I typically don't even like saisons too much, but I'm glad I tried this one as it's the best I've ever had and I could drink it all day. Even though all the food was delicious the one taste I can't stop thinking about is the beer cheese that came with the pretzel. I recommend dipping the frites, the sandwich, and anything else you can get your hands on in the beer cheese as well. My biggest regret is not getting the latkes and the falafel options so I will be back for those as soon as possible. The ownership and staff were exceptionally nice and the whole place just has a welcoming, casual, cheerful, homey vibe, right down to the whimsical logo. Speaking of the art, if ownership happens to read this I would love to get your logo on a hat someday if you're thinking about some more merchandise options:) Otherlands is a perfect addition to an already thriving Bellingham beer scene. I visited Bellingham recently and ended up going here twice during the long weekend! Both the beer and food were spectacular, as well as the service and the atmosphere. I loved sampling different beers with the half pour option, but if you're extra thirsty, the lager comes in a 20oz mug! Also, with COVID still raging, I felt really safe here - the tables were spread out, there were no large groups, and everyone wore masks. Definitely recommend this spot! read more

This place is UNREAL. The beer is absolutely amazing. I had the illumination (hoppy saison) and the Excessive Celebrations (lager). Both are up to par with any other brewery in town. What really surprised me was the food. I had the falafel with a salad and a half order of the latke. Both of which are a MUST TRY. Especially the side salad. Sweet pickled radishes. The beer is outstanding with a full range of choices and is constantly changing. The service is fast and friendly. More often than not, one of the owners will seat you themselves. I'm typically not one to leave a review but after my experience here I had to for others that enjoy bringing their pups to breweries. A colleague suggested we go to Otherlands to have a work meeting and I checked and heard that they were okay with dogs (I have a 4 month old puppy). After arriving within the first 5 minutes one of the owners came up to me and was essentially, saying they had a 3 bark policy and that I was warned and on the brink of being kicked out. I had literally just sat down and my puppy barked at a dog at a different table. She had not barked more than once when I was confronted by one of the owners. She stated their policy was to respect their customers, and I understood however confronting me in that way made me uncomfortable. As a puppy she is almost always quiet but saw another dog. Most of the customers were coming up to pet the puppy and I asked all of them if they were disturbed by the minor puppy barking that had occurred, all of which laughed at my question. The beer was okay, but I felt it didn't stack up to the competition in the highly saturated brewery scene of Bellingham. The other employees were respectful and were confused when I told them I was trying to be extra careful with my dog so I didn't get kicked out. read more

Part of me wanted to keep this wonderful place as a Sunnyland secret, but the word is out! Simply amazing food and great beer. Add to that, incredibly nice folks, running their business perfectly in spite of Covid. Outdoor dining even in December is cozy, sheltered from wind and rain and with heat lamps to keep even wimps like me comfortable. I have worked my way through everything on their menu (some more than once) and it's all just incredibly good. Fresh herbs, generous portions and imaginative cooking all make for comfort food at its best. Every beer I've had has instantly become my favorite. And if you want to share the joy, you can give a gift certificate in any amount to brighten the holidays for those you love.
