Excellent burgers & pizza - 4 stars!…read more FYI, it's called "Riley's Cannibal Junction", NOT "Riley's Fine Food & Drink". Don't judge a book by its cover. That's the first thing I have to say about this hole-in-the-wall bar & restaurant. When you find them, it feels like the middle of nowhere because there are no houses, cabins, or other businesses in sight. This is a totally casual, no-frills place with a hunting and fishing cabin type of vibe. Come as you are. Are you still wearing your hunting camo or your snowmobile suit? No problem. The burgers, pizzas, and soups are very good. The all-beef patties are the real deal. No soybean additives here. The owner makes an extra effort to get a higher grade ground beef. You can definitely taste the difference. The staff is very friendly and unpretentious. And the prices are remarkably reasonable (see photo). If you're interested in the history, they have a summary on the back of the menu and on the Facebook page. It all goes back to the 1950s and an eccentric husband & wife named Chester & Violet Guiles. The local kids started calling Chester "Cannibal Guiles". Once a week they'd go to Deer River to buy groceries in a horse drawn buckboard. One final note: I read a silly previous review accusing this place of being "disgustingly racist". I saw no evidence of racism whatsoever. In fact, there was a Native American gentleman cooking on the day I visited. I complimented him on the burgers and we had a nice chat. He's a nice dude. I don't know what kind of personal beef was going on at some point in the past, but this review is pretty bad...the worst type of ignorant, woke, race baiting & trolling with no evidence at all. Don't like 'em? Don't go there. This stupid review should really be removed or sidelined by Yelp. Anyway, enough time wasted on that topic... Stop by if you're in the area. Grab a brew and some grub. Thumbs up! -Maxx

I asked the receptionist if she would recommend the restaurant or the buffet? She said "the restaurant has much better food but it is pricey." We decided on the restaurant, it didn't open until 5pm so we waited 5 mins and it open and we're seated. First off the whole multi grain bread they offer as pre meal was nothing short of great and very tasty. As I am cutting for my upcoming fight I ordered the ceaser salad add grilled chicken. (The grilled chicken added an additional 8$ to the price of my originally 6$ salad.) and the girlfriend ordered the chicken Alfredo. My ceaser salad was great. (Can't think of much to say about a review for a salad.) but the dressing was great and grilled chicken was cooked to perfection. The real buzz was the chicken Alfredo, hands down could have been one of the best Alfredo's I have eaten. The sauce was extremely creamy as well as tasty. The chicken was perfect and just the right amount of added mix veggies that you could tell were cooked fresh. The only reason my score is 4 stars is because the prices were a bit steep. I was pre warned as about that, I just feel at a casino where much $ is spent gambling they should make more reasonable pricing. But to rate the food hands down 5 stars.

Sarah H. went out of her way to spoil us rotten. SERVICE SCORE -- 10+ The boss ordered the jumbo shrimp (the oxymoron still makes me laugh) and she found them to be satisfactory but not quite stellar. I went with the prime rib and got exactly the cut I asked Sarah to describe to the chef and it was done to a perfect medium rare. For my side, I chose the shrimp bisque and had I known how great that was going to be, I'd have skipped the steak and just ordered a bottomless bowl of the bisque ... YES, it was that good!!! FOOD SCORE -- 4 of 5. But, let's talk about the elephant in the room ... every soul in the house was shouting over the other dozen people at their respective tables... the noise level on a Saturday during the evening rush made me wish I had known to bring earplugs or noise-canceling headphones. The noise level might have been partially attributable to the very generous pour that every glass seemed to have. AMBIENCE SCORE -- Ungraded. All in, though, we had a decent meal at a fair price and got top-shelf service from Sarah (the highlight of the visit.) If we were ever in town visiting again, we'd go back.

For us, it was busy but the service was fast and very friendly. The beer selection focuses on microbrewery's, which I prefer. I selected a German blonde beer from Bemidji. For my meal I did the walleye sandwich. It was breaded & deep fried walleye on a hoagie bun with tomato's, lettuce, red onions and tartar sauce. It was big and it hit the spot! My SO had the walleye filet and shrimp bisque. She said the bisque was the star of the show. The view over the lake makes this a special place. The loud noise from other tables detracts somewhat from that experience.
