I went here with some family while on vacation and we thought it was great. The food was excellent the service was good. It was a bit pricier than I imagined it would be, but the portions are sizable so you definitely get what you pay for. My sister got the Turkey Club and loved it. My nephew got the black and blue burger and that thing was massive. I got the Rueben which had a lot of meat but next time I'll ask for more sauce as it did not have much. The atmosphere was wonderful. I'd definitely go back here again if I'm on vacation near by. read more

The feeling of dread I had when we pulled into the parking lot, which was crazy full. And then I sunk further when I saw all the bar food on the menu. We were exhausted and road weary and I wanted something comforting and tasty. Noooooo. I reluctantly agreed with the pizza choice my family made but I knew it was going to be lousy.... Except. Been coming to Lake Winni for almost 20 years and finally had a chance to visit the Gosh Dam Place. Wish I would have done e it sooner. Fast, friendly service. Menu variety has something for everyone. We started with the duck wontons. Great savory treat with cream cheese filling and Asian zing chili sauce. I had the half pound jalapeño cream cheese burger with fries. Zingy sauce and a slab of cream cheese with candied jalapeños. Hand cut fries that were great even after they cooled. One day f my guests had the meat loaf commercial with a home style gravy and mashed potatoes. Just like mine made! The chicken strip basket was plentiful with great dipping sauce options. Top it up ff with a great old fashioned....one day f the best I've tried outside of Wisconsin. read more

Sandwiches and pizza are exceptional! You can even bring in you caught fish and they will cook them up for you!

While camping in the area we went out for lunch one day. The service was great and the pizza was awesome! The panko bread crumbs on the bottom of the crust gave it a nice crunch to the pizza and talk about cheese wow it was loaded with it. The pepperoni was large and plenty of that as well. The tequila shot for my wife was awesome!!! We will return in the future. read more

We stayed there for convenance to fish on lake Winni and it was the biggest mistake ever. The beds are from the 60's I sat on it, and it sagged 6" and I'm only 165 lbs. I got up in the morning with very little sleep and a bad back from the bed. It was not just me because the other two people in my group had the same issue. If you stay, there you will be better off with an air mattress on the floor. The bathroom was just as bad because you could not get the door open or closed without kicking it and the toilet seat was broken off. The food in the restaurant was just ok at best and overpriced. I will never stay there again. read more

Bring your own fish they will fry them to perfection and deliver them to you with coleslaw, baked bean, bread and french fries. They have some of the best cocktail sauce I've had in years and the tartar sauce was good too. So my dad works here, and I like the food to. But one thing I don't like is their slow WiFi and tv channels at the cabins. But when I was about 3 I stayed there for half a day and could hear people in the other cabin talking and one even taking a shower. My mom said it was too noisy, once in a while a bear comes here. read more

It's actually a bit better than 3 stars, but didn't quite seem like a 4-star place, either. This is just a review of the restaurant, no idea about the hotel (though I'm sure it's fine). The Gosh Dam is so named because of it's proximity to a dam on Lake Winnie that controls the flow of the Mississippi. It's a clever name for a place that is pretty run-of-the-mill as restaurants good, but solid enough to stop in an eat at. The Gosh Dam is basically divided into three areas: the bar area (which has lots of seating for diners), the gift shop area, which lies between the two eating areas, and then a dining room (which is really just another room with a few tables in it). The bar dining area definitely has the most character, the dining room is quieter, and more suited for families. Foodwise, the big winner is their famous Walleye Fingers, which are, in fact, gosh darn good (see? It's not just a clever name). The rest of the menu is fine, exactly what you'd expect - roadhouse burgers, etc. etc. Nothing remarkable, but everything is serviceable. If this was in the middle of a city, I probably wouldn't really eat here that often, but since it's one of the few places to grab grub in the immediate vicinity, I'd say it's a good place to stop and chow down. The staff is nice and friendly. The gift shop has lot of things marked "Gosh Darn Place" for you to wow your friends with back home (assuming they are easily impressed by tourist t-shirts). And of course, the real winner here is that when you're planning a place to eat with your friends, you do get to say "gosh dam" a lot, which is kind of fun for a few minutes. read more

When you are in the 'North Woods' of Minnesota, four stars is about the best you will get. Good food, but a really fun atmosphere and a very fine and friendly bar! Every visit has been fun and enjoyable at the Gosh Dam Place for myself and for my friends and guests. It is a regular stop when I am in the area. read more

Stayed at the lodge for a night due to a last minute change in plans. It was a fine, albeit minimal place to stay for a night. However, at check-in, the person checking me in wrote all my details, including credit card number, down in a book at the bar ... and, I suspect, not coincidentally, a day later I had 3 unauthorized charges on my credit card from internet shopping sites. Do I know for sure this is where my card number was compromised? No, but it's a pretty big coincidence. So ... beware of their low-tech booking system at the hotel. read more

Bar food. Clean, kind of looking rustic place with good parking next to a good bait shop and close to dam. Help is friendly but tad slow to take your order. Boneless chicken wings are horrible. This is why only 3 stars. Hamburgers were good. Basically a bar serving food rather than restaurant serving liquor. read more

Expansive menu is available beyond pizza. The pizza looked good but we didn't try it. We both ordered burgers - black n blu and bacon cheeseburger. Burgers were good. Tried both regular fries and gosh dam (beer batter) fries. Both were good and would probably do the regular again since they were crispier. The bartender was friendly but service was slow and very frustrating. A waitress stood by and talked to a couple for at least 10 minutes while we very obviously were waiting to place an order. I finally asked if we could order or it would've been another 5 minutes for the bartender to return. There were about 10 people in the whole joint so pretty sloppy on service. read more
