The Good Eats Food Tours is in its inaugural year providing participants with yummy food samples…read morefrom Historic 25th Street - Ogden, Utah restaurants. Ogden has such a rich and naughty history that it entices the imagination and provokes pride which makes it the perfect backdrop for the tour. Over the past year, Utah has introduced me to inspiring people that have an idea and then proceed to DO SOMETHING about it. Nicole Ames and her husband, Glen, are in that group. After visiting other cities that endorse local businesses through tourism they decided that 25th Street was missing this amazing opportunity. Nicole, founder of the Good Eats Tour, rallied all the participants on Grant and 25th Street around 1:30pm on Saturday. We were introduced to each other and briefed on our tour. My partners-in-crime for this gluttonous day included my husband, Jason, and my Grandma, Sandra. I love food (my backside can attest to this ) but I also love meeting new people, learning new things and spending time with my favorite peeps so I knew this tour would be perfect. Nicole explained the inspiration for the Good Eats Tour name. Her Grandma Sloan owned the Good Eats Café in Ogden where she met her Grandfather. The story has been retold over generations and while she doesn't have proof of this, she chooses to believe it's true. Being a sucker for an amazing love story, I believe it too. When you experience the Good Eats Tour make sure to bring water! It gets very hot in the summer months and you'll be happy to have it. The Good Eats Food Tours isn't just about discovering new restaurants and food, it's about rediscovering Ogden's history and its future. Nicole peppered us with fun, interesting facts about Ogden's sordid past of bootleg, prostitution, and the Electric Alley. She also reminded us of Ogden's willingness to help those in need like when the poor and destitute arrived through Union Station, we welcomed them and came together as a community. Finally, the Good Eats Food Tours, wouldn't be nearly as fun without Nicole and her commitment to ensuring we had the best experience possible. Also, we got lucky and made a few new friends along the way. Faye and Ron have been married over 23 years and after I blurted out, "and you still like each other?" they just giggled. Thanks for putting up with us . Chris MacDonald doesn't have a Facebook so I told her I would lovingly refer to her as Chris from 25th Street until she got one. The Good Eats Tour was so much fun and a great way to spend an afternoon with good peeps. Encourage your local restaurants to participate and introduce new customers to their story, history and delicious food. The Good Eats Tour really does allow you to become a Tourist in your own city! The bickering sisters served us orange zest french toast with real maple syrup. The Tona was my favorite. The waitress gave us a wonderful pot sticker and a blizzard sushi roll. I have never had sushi, but the waitress picked us a very mild sushi roll. I could taste that there was fish in it but it was really good. I am now a convert. Sushi can be good! I really enjoyed the pho at o town noodles. Lucky slice was great they served us a blt pizza that rocked. I'm going to play that turtles game next time. Our first restaurant stop was Flanagan's. Having visited Ireland previously versus the typical Irish pubs here in the states, wow. I dined while a portrait of Father Flanagan loomed over our table and I was taken back to the Emerald Isle with a tasty stew served with a side of you guessed it, potatoes. They made my mouth water for more. Learning about the impact Father Flanagan made on the area was a bonus and I will definitely return to his namesake pub. Another intriguing restaurant stop, River Horse. The ambiance was matched by the amazing dinner. I don't say amazing lightly, this was a saffron explosion for my taste buds. For each tour the Chef prepares a special meal at his whim, he makes each different depending on his mood and I'm pretty sure he must have had the best day of his life. I've never had a better meal. Cliff notes: This is a summary of just two out of six stops for our tour. If you eat food like the rest of us, you need to do yourself a favor and call Shirin. You'll be informed about Park City's silver beginnings and blown away by the variety of delicious food Main Street has to offer.

It was my daughter who found Park City Food Tours. It was great. Shirin took us around. She is knows so much about the city, and her love for it comes through when she talks about it. Depending on the day of the week you decide to go, the price and type of restaurant (casual, elegant, etc) changes. We went on a Tuesday evening, casual night, but the restaurants were a great mix, they didn't seem to be all casual. Food was very good, the people on the tour with us were very friendly. One of the restaurants, a sushi restaurant, prepared a special meal for us. It was great and money well spent.

We ended up at 3 unique and delicious stops I wouldn't have normally thought to try, and each was wonderful! At Antica Roma, I enjoyed Mushroom ravioli with truffle. So smooth... Pleiku Vietnamese introduced me to a fabulous Chicken basil. It had a bit of a kick and I worked around the onions and peppers but the chicken was to die for! Had a subtle crisp the was great! At Himalayan kitchen I got to sample several Indian bites: Coconut veggie curry, chicken tika masala and lamb curry with naan bread. All great but the chicken tika is unforgettable and the yogurt sauce for the naan so fresh and tasty! I enjoyed hearing Mo share our local history but even more than that, I loved learning about the lives the man changes thru his other businesses! Check out his mission at The Other Side where he works to support mental health and substance abuse recovery and works to rehabilitate those wanting to change their lives. He shares how many in his programs find their way thru addiction, homelessness and the legal system and change their lives thru The Other Side Academy (https://www.theothersideacademy.com/). Really cool to hear how communities have come together to support this mission. So glad I found myself to this tour and to have learned Mo's story. Definitely recommend this food tour. He also shared of his Hop On Hop Off bus tour and The Other Side Donuts for anyone wanting to support more of what he offers (slcbustours.com)

Chris & Ashley, co-owners of New World Distillery, have perfected the ideal distillery tour. It was a seamless blend of technical distilling knowledge, equipment explanations, liquor industry lore, & of course, taste-testing. We tasted 7 of their products, straight & neat, & learned a bit about each one. The vodka was amazingly drinkable. Distilled from agave, it has a pleasant sweetness to it that differentiates it from other vodkas. It also, unsurprisingly, smells a bit like tequila. At the tail end of the tour, Chris made the smooooothest transition to a lil speech on supporting small distilling. The war against big booze rages on, but Chris definitely gained some small booze warriors that day. It's clear they love motorcycles at this distillery. Half of the spots out front are reserved for bikes. I hope to come back on my hog someday. Thank you Chris & Ashley for inviting us into your world for a little bit. We could only take one bottle with us (we got on a plane to Rhode Island the next day) but we'll definitely be back for more someday.

Upon entering you feel like your miles away from the city! Parking is free and admission is $5 per adult. The visitor center is a charming little building with a quaint little gift shop filled with local products and a Discovery room that showcases various reptiles. The staff member gives you a rundown of the trails and hands you a nifty little map. And off you go to explore! There are plenty of things to see including but not limited to: Birds of Prey area, Observation Towers, picnic areas, ponds, etc. So it's much more than just brush and trees. Bring a pair of binoculars and you might see some native wildlife. Soak in the sunshine and enjoy the bird calls and sounds if wildlife! In late March the trees are still bare this year so I can only imagine what it looks like when all the foliage comes in. Definitely a great way to spend a warm, sunny morning on a solo walk or with friends and famiy. And on the cheap.

The Ogden Nature Center is a 152 acre nature preserve and education center located in Ogden, Utah…read moreoff of 12th street. Although it is located within eyeshot of the freeway in some spots, you actually forget you are in the middle of town and I am consistently impressed by the gorgeous views of our mountains surrounding Ogden. The nature center is a fabulous year round retreat that we can spend an hour, or a whole day exploring. The only complaint I have about the nature center is the hours, it closes at 5pm - which is truly too early for my family, my son gets off school at 3:00; by the time we make it to the center and park- its 3:20 and we are left with only 90 minutes or so to explore and walk around. Saturdays are 9-4, Sundays they are closed altogether. I understand closing early in the winter but I would like to see longer summer hours- however I also know its volunteer run, so longer hours may be out of the question. Our first stop when we visit the nature center, after walking the short birdhouse trail to the visitor center, is to sign in and visit the animals in the visitor center. Gizmo the owl is a huge hit with our family. Right outside are the birds of prey; and this is our favorite part of the nature center. From Chitters the great horned owl to a funny and brilliant raven, a giant golden eagle and an injured bald eagle; there are amazing birds here to learn from. The birds here are well cared for by volunteers and all are there having been nursed back to health but for one reason or another were not able to be released back into the wild. While walking around the nature center we have seen quite a few beautiful animals, we always see deer and it's not a good visit without peeking out the bird blinds and trying to find some tadpoles or frogs. Our favorite place to play is the treehouse in the northwest corner. The kids love running up and down and peeking out from the top, it is also a great place to stop and have lunch or a snack. Created in 1975, it was Utah's first nature center. The center includes live animal exhibits, walking trails, ponds, bird blinds, observation towers, tree houses, gardens featuring drought resistant plants, and protected areas for wildlife. It offers nature-based classes and activities for children and adults. It is fun year round, we have visited while it was snowing, and while it was 100 degrees- it was fun either way and the shaded areas make it a nice place to hang out in the summer. With memberships starting at $30 for an individual and $45 for a family, it is worth every penny to me to have a safe and fun place for my kids to explore, run, walk, and enjoy the beauty of our town. There are student discounts, you can certainly make larger contributions, and volunteer opportunities. My favorite thing about the nature center is that I almost always see someone out working on something, whether it's tending to the birds, cleaning up a trail, or maintaining a pond- people are actively working to keep this beautiful reserve pristine for years to come. The Nature Center even offers summer camps, ranging from week-long camps to day camps for kids of all ages.
