I ordered a fish dinner which came with two pieces of fish, a hush puppy, a pile of fries and coleslaw. I ordered a sweet tea and I put sweetener in it this time. This was the second time I've eaten here in a week. The fish was great. Fries were hot. I have no complaints. I left there feeling pretty satisfied food wise. read more

The fish is the reason for at least two of the four stars. Chili is pretty good...most of the time.. a little thin and under spiced sometimes. The pizza and hamburger is enjoyed by my friends. The service is friendly but a little slow. But that all said is why I go there and take out unless with group. The operative word is TAVERN and there it EXCELS... in the 1950's or '40s or maybe'30s. It has been many moons since we had been here and it was the same as it was back then. The potato skins loaded, fish sandwich, and pizza were all good. This is a smoking facility so be prepared for that. read more

My friend and I came here for lunch and I'm glad we did. The place was recommended by a local businessman. We both ordered the fish sandwich and fries and it was perfection. Great environment that truly captures the rural economy of farm land mead county Kentucky. Smoking is allowed, drinks are cheap and they have (50cent) pool tables, darts and my personal favorite- a TouchTunes juke box. My friend had the fish and chips, fried to perfection directly out of a lake located in central Kentucky. Our bartender, Blake is was super accommodating and on point with service and demeanor. Awful!!! The service has went down in the last couple of years but last night was the worst!!! Our waitress looked like she could kill anyone who would ask her anything. The short heavy girl at the bar looked like she wanted to go home , there was another lady who looked like she wanted to fight anyone. They were all fighting and yelling at each other . Unprofessional for sure !! we waited 45 minutes for food that never came. The waitress never came back to our table after our order. Finally we flagged her down only to be told that they were a person short in the kitchen and we should get our order soon. Yeah okay that is information we should of been told when we ordered. This is my favorite place to visit. Always a great group of regulars and staff that make this a welcoming place to be. Ice cold Beer from bottles and plenty of entertainment. This year I noticed that the Air conditioning was extra cold and if you stand in certain areas you could actually catch a good chill. This being said, make sure to bring a jacket or sweater. The owner and staff are genuinely happy doing what they do and it shows with good service. In many places that I have been to many locations had came out with new menus and revised prices. and I am happy to report some things just don't change... the beers went up slightly and I can still report it is still cheap, compared to Naples Chicago and Milwaukee. On to the menu the fish is great with slaw and fries, cooked properly crispy solid pieces of white fish. the Burgers, Pork chop and Pizza have also been a good choices too. As soon as you enter you will notice a new Large Round table to the R of the door Popular for eating drinking meetings and a good location for viewing the TV. Thursday nights is karaoke night and its great to see all levels of talent. having a great time. Tips, wear your seat belt and watch your speed limit it you drive through Vine grove some areas are 25 MPH. Ghost hunter tips. This year I saw a chair next to me, move away from the table all by itself, at the large table up front. I quickly looked under the table and there was no way anyone could have reached it. I was highly disappointed. I've been there twice. the service was terrible. We were seated and it took us over 10 minutes for drinks order. It took over an hour for our food. Their pizza was terrible. It was literally frozen pizza. Or at least tasted like a frozen pizza from the grocery isle. My dad did like their fish sandwich. Half the menu was sold out . Definitely a place for the locals to get a beer or two or three. It's an interesting place and not for everyone. People still smoke here so don't be afraid when you walk in and the smell of stale cigarettes and cheap beer slap you in the face. Tried calling in an order twice today. First time they said hold on and sat the phone down and never came back. Listened to them take orders and talk for 15 minutes in the background and hung up. I will give this bar 4 out of 5 stars. I had the Creek burger and fries which were really good. Others had the fish sandwich that they raved about - will try it the next time we come. Tad bit of smoke smell - brings you back to old school taverns. Enjoyed the layed-back kind of feeling you get when you enter.
