Also got a thin crust with pepperoni and caramelized onions so good we went back 2 days later . Asked them to crisp it up a bit more the second time and it was perfect. Almost every single time I've ordered pizza from Leonardo's over the past decade I've regretted it. I don't know if I'm ordering wrong, if they prioritize their specific pizzas over build-your-own pies, or if it's just been a string of bad luck, but... They offer shredded potato as a topping. Three pizzas in a row the shredded potato came completely raw. Have you eaten raw potato? It's not pleasant. Speaking of toppings, in my experience Leonardo's is not very generous with them. Every pizza we've ordered has had very, very little on it. Also, why is it all concentrated right in the middle of the pie? Finally, the last pizza I ordered - after tax, delivery fee, and tip - was $50. 1) It was a "large" (I've had frozen pizza from a box that was bigger); 2) it was "thin" crust (except it had the same thickness as every regular pizza I've ever had from them); 3) we asked for extra vegan cheese (my partner - upon seeing the mostly sauce and pineapple pizza - said, "did you forget to order extra cheese?" nope, I didn't; they just spread THAT little on it even after paying [a lot] for more); 4) we had three toppings (one was missing, the Beyond Burger was literally ten pieces, but WOW did we get a lot of pineapple - at least an entire can's worth!); 5) the pizza was cut into thirteen pieces (who doesn't want a sliver of pizza the size of their finger?). We had a couple negative experiences recently with other local area pizza places screwing up our pickup orders recently and I thought I'd try a new one. We ordered pizza from Leonardo's and found the experience delightful start to finish. The website's mobile interface is easy to use and when I went to pick it up, the guy was very friendly. He'd JUST made the pizza, so I got it while it was still nice and hot. They have so many options- vegan, veg, meaty, gluten free- and you can build your own pizza super easily. Their cheesy garlic breadsticks are amazing, their Nutella sticks are amazing.... their delivery arrives SO FAST and the food is still SO HOT. Can't say enough about Leo's. This is the BEST pizza we've had in Portland. PERIOD. I'm not kidding when I tell you I am still dreaming about our pizza from Leonardo's. It was a Friday night, drinks were being served, and naturally a pizza was the only thing missing. We decided to order Leonardo's for the first time and went on their very user friendly website to order one of their specialty pizzas. Everything looked amazing on their menu, but we decided to go for the Fennel & Sausage pizza, and I truly don't think we can ever go back now. They nailed absolutely everything about it - the crust, the cheese, the sausage, all of it. We also did a side of their cheesy bread and it was some of the best cheesy bread I've had. The pizza was also fairly priced for how big and packed it is. We obviously had leftovers, which tasted just as good the next day. Delivery fees were also affordable, especially for the Portland area, and they quickly delivered the pizza to us. We will be ordering again very soon. I think we found our pizza go-to. read more

I must have driven by the modest little blue and white storefront that is Leonardo's on Forest Ave. before deciding to give the pizza a try, and I'm super glad I did! I've tried some of the other Portland pizza places and they've been good, but Leonardo's has become my favorite. Pizzas are clearly their specialty (there are a few chicken and salad sides too), and you can either build your own or there's a great list of their original combos. I love the Pickle Pepper Ranch: shown in the photo with a few modifications (I swapped out the roasted red peppers for banana peppers, and added black olives and pepperoni). The online ordering system appears a bit dated at first, but it's actually easy to use and thorough--you choose your crust and can make any modifications you want! Easy! Gluten-free options available if you want them too. Toppings are fresh, generous, and tasty. Takeout only, FYI. read more

Yeah, they have good pizza with nice vegetarian options and, amazingly, whole wheat crust option. But why would I review Leonardos now after all these years? Because I just discovered they have the only BAKED chicken tenders I know! And they're delicious. No bready crumby deep fried nonsense. Just tender chicken and spices. Loved them! The pizza was screaming hot and really tasted like they cared about what they were serving. I like that they use King Arthur Flour--it's what I buy for home baking. The sauce was flavorful and the cheese combination was surprisingly delicious. We will certainly pick up another pie in the near future. Tonight we went back. The experience could not be more different. The pizza was gummy, cold and uninspired. Ordering the pizza took three phone calls with at least a three minute wait on hold before we were disconnected. We were told to show up in 45 minutes. We showed up ten minutes early and called for the pick up. The pizza was put on the outside table and we were not called back for the pizza pick up right away. We live literally three minutes from the business and when we opened up the box, it was stone cold. Not planning on ordering again. Inconsistent food is a total turn off. read more

We ordered delivery to our air bnb one night when we had spent the day walking around and were too tired to even go to dinner. The delivery went off without a hitch and the driver followed the directions perfectly. The unit was upstairs with no doorbell, so he had to call when he arrived so we could go downstairs to meet him. The food was very good and WAY more than we really needed for 3 people, so it's a good thing the a-b-b had a kitchen with a fridge and microwave, so it could be enjoyed over the next few days. The boneless wings were super yummy, great sauce and perfect cooking. The pizza was pretty good, maybe it needed a little more sauce or cheese, it just seemed a little dry. The Maine potato was very unique and not bad at all. The Hawaiian island delight was an easy win, though my picky teen was completely turned off by the broccoli on it. Honestly, having had a piece from both sides (we got half with/half without) it was much better without the broccoli. The best part is the staff. They are hard working and very respectful to each other and the customers. That's where all the accolades end. The pizza is just like dominos except it's twice the price and they offer more vegetarian options. The crust is doughy and grossly soft. There is limited pizza sauce and the flavoring lacks savory or richness in depth aroma. The ingredients are limited in the spread on the pizza and they are over cooked. In general, I think Portland has no idea what a great pizza looks or tasted like. Try authentic pizza in a big city. Leonardo's is my favorite pizza delivery in Portland, and they're not getting enough love here on Yelp. They're a pizza frankenstein created from all of the best parts of Otto, Flatbread and Dominos. -They deliver fast. I don't know if I've ever waited even half an hour. Take that Otto and your hour long wait. They're also open until at least 2 am on weekends. -They mail coupons to your house that are legit good deals, such as 50% off. -You can order online. -The pizza is great! The regular crust is a bit too thick for me, but the thin is perfect. It's not wafer thin like dominos (which tastes like passover matzah with cheese) but the perfect depth to hold the toppings. The Gorgonzola Gourmet may be my favorite pizza in all of Portland. Finally, they have sides, and they're awesome. The baked wings are some of the best you can get delivered, and don't sit like greasy bricks afterwards. The tenders are grilled and healthier, but dry and bland. The cheesy bread is fantastically artery clogging. Leonardo's takes Dominos quick delivery, late hours and easy online ordering and combines it with the upscale, fun pizzas of Ottos. And the only pizza I want to eat is their Basil Pesto Chicken with bacon added. It is SO GOOD. It's amazing hot or cold and is so filling, one pizza lasts a couple days for two of us. They use King Arthur flour and it makes a big difference in my ability to digest the crust. I never feel sick or draggy after I have their pizza, like I do with other pizzas. The first time we got their wings, I wasn't very impressed- they were quite flabby, soggy and barely warm, with very little sauce. I really wanted wings last night when we were ordering pizza, so tried them again. And holy moly! They were amazing! Huge, hot, not flabby at all and the sauces were really good. I love Leonardo's for an quick meal when only pizza will hit the spot. You can order and pay online which is very convenient, or order over the phone. When you're ordering carry-out, it usually only takes about 20 min to be ready so it's a quick option to pick up on your way home. Now moving on to the pizza itself- SO GOOD. I tend to like white sauce on my pizza, and their Alfredo sauce is delicious. They have the perfect amount of proportions of sauce to cheese to toppings, and are receptive to customizing orders. One of my favorite pizzas here is the chicken mushroom carbonara. I'm not normally a pizza crust eater, but their crust is soft and garlicky, making it impossible to resist. They also have great cinnamon bubble bread for dessert with either dark chocolate or sea salt caramel sauce on top, so you can keep that wonderful carb train rolling. read more
