Overall good trip. We stopped in on a Tuesday around Happy Hour because the person I was with wanted a Burger. She specifically wanted a burger from an expert Burger establishment and knows this place well and its reputation for great burgers, which is why I'm a bit disappointed to leave this review tbh Long story short, her burger that was ordered medium rare, first comes out basically well done or medium well at best. She is one of those people who would literally eat a raw burger vs an over cooked one, so she is forced to send the over cooked dry burger back asking for once again medium rare. I mentioned to the waitress to that my friend would prefer an under cooked, rather than over cooked burger. so if anything the cook could err on the side of rare. Well he sure did err on the rare side. The burger comes out the 2nd time...and its raw. No way it was even rare. I eat rare burgers, no way I would eat that. Tell me you can't cook a burger without telling me you can't cook a burger. I mean just because you miss the mark cooking it the first time dont compound the problem by sending the next one out wrong in the opposite direction. Great atmosphere and service. Very surprised about the cook being unable to cook the burger to order as requested. Several trips here that have been great so I'm going to be generous here today and give them four stars. read more

Mother's Day. Really wanted a brunch but not finding what I wanted, came across Our Mom's. Reviews and menu looked delicious. We both had a burger mine with fried egg , hubby bbq and bacon. Both cooked perfectly, juicy and delicious. Kitchen was backed up so we were comped a dessert and had lava cake , that was also very good. We sat down and weren't acknowledged for about 10 minutes. After that, we had to wave down the waitress every single time we needed something, and we never even received drink refills the entire time we were there. My boyfriend ordered the Catfish Atchafalaya, and the catfish came out underdone the first time. When it was brought back out, the rice was gummy and smelled rancid. The smell was honestly so bad that I don't understand how it was served. I ordered the Original Burger, and it was actually good. But after tasting the Atchafalaya dish and smelling the rice, my appetite was completely gone and I couldn't finish it. We also ordered the crawfish fries, and the "cream" sauce was not creamy at all. It tasted more like a brown gravy, almost like debris fries rather than a cream-based crawfish sauce. Overall we ordered the Catfish Atchafalaya, Original Burger, and Crawfish Fries, and between the slow service and poor food quality, the experience was extremely disappointing. I also want to note that we were one of the only Black couples there, and it was hard not to notice that other tables seemed to be getting more attentive service while we struggled just to get basic things like refills. How on earth is this place still open with there terrible customer service. I placed a to go order on the phone that took 5 minutes for 2 sandwiches and some fries. We get there to pick the food up with only 2 tables occupied while the workers were just talking and walking around, multiple people saying they'd be with me in a sec, but 20 minutes later I finally get my cold soggy food and get the hell out. There was no urgency from anyone to help me with a TO GO ORDER. I JUST NEEDED TO PAY AND GET MY FOOD THAT WAS JUST SITTING THERE. Never spending another dime here. Great food! Good ambiance. Parking can be a little bit of a challenge but I recommend trying this place.

Racist !! Waited almost 20 minutes never got water or even spoke to. The waiter walked past us multiple times and purposely ignored us.

Arrived around 1:00 pm for a quick lunch before hopping on the Amtrak to Chicago. I was greeted and seated quickly. The menu was as expected with all the things you want for a quick lunch like the usual suspects of starters, think boudin and loaded fries, salads, lots of hamburger options including a veggie burger, fried shrimp and chicken tender plates. I had the fried shrimp plate and I was pleasantly surprised at the quality and amount of shrimp for the price. Service was friendly if a bit slow to check back. The shrimp were a nice size, fresh and well fried as were the fries and at 11.99 a steal for a good lunch. The iced tea was also fresh and well made. All in all if you're around downtown Hammond just hanging out or waiting for a train definitely check out Our Mom's, there is also a bar and the bar menu certainly looked worth checking out as well. read more

Soooo we decided to try a new place here in Hammond and settled on Our Mom's. It's clean and bright. Big booths. A big pack of servers all smiling and having fun! Ours was Sydney today and she was just a doll, knew the menu and acted like she had known us her whole life. Julie got a bacon cheese burger and I had the chili cheese burger. Big half pound burgers! For me the chili lacked cumin and was more like a sloppy Joe, tasty but a bit off. Julie's burger came with stuff she didn't order but she ate it anyway. I had the jalapeño bun and Julie the sour dough. Honestly the buns are not up to being hand held, just too soft but they are delicious!! The fries are pretty good. Parking on the street requires parallel parking and after we found out there's a lot in the back. We are going to come back and explore the menu, or maybe just stop in for some pineapple upside down cake!! read more

This was my wife and I's first time eating at Moms Restaurant. We were promptly seated and was happily greeted. Waitress's name was Anna. Never let a a drink get more then half empty without asking if we were ready for another. I went to order a beer on tap and was let down. I was thinking formed that the cooler for their tap was not working. I settled with a bottled beer. Not a deal breaker. The wife ordered a coconut mojito. She was thoroughly impressed the the flavor and the alcohol content. For the appetizer we ordered fried mushrooms. We both thought that the were perfectly cooked and juicy. It came with a homemade ranch sauce that was delicious. For our entrée I ordered the surf & turf burger medium. Very juicy and flavorful through and though. The jalapeño bun that it came on was sweet in flavor and very soft. This is a burger I will order again. My wife ordered the Patty Crockett medium well. Very juicy and extremely cheesy. She stated " this is the best burger I have ever had". We were both very pleased with the environment, the staff, the service and the food. What happened to this place? Used to be super amazing. I ordered the spinach dip and they completely changed it since last I ordered it. Soupy, premade, and ugly looking. They gave me the smallest portion as well. Smaller than 5-6 tablespoon fulls. They also changed the bread and chips that used to come with it. Now it's cheap baked slices of potato and are so hard they hurt my teeth. I also ordered a chicken sandwich that had the spinach dip on it and they totally forgot to put in on there. Same disgusting dip as well. Only thing good here are the burgers, don't order off that path and you'll have a great time. read more

I took my daughter here this past Sunday for lunch. It wasn't too crowded when we arrived. We got sat quickly into a booth. I was deciding between the chicken sandwich or the jalapeño burger. I was hesitant with the burger because it said it came with homemade ranch on it and I am not a big ranch fan. However, I decided to roll with it and my daughter got the Hawaiian burger. Well I will say I was very pleased with the burger. It had pepper jack cheese, fried jalapeño slices and just a touch of ranch sauce. I did add ketchup to it when I got it. It was very tasty the burger was cooked well, the jalapeño was spot on with the cheese and I really didn't taste the ranch. I was afraid there would be too much ranch on it but it was the perfect amount for me. My daughter enjoyed her burger as well. It came with ham and pineapple on it. Her one complaint was that she wished they would have grilled the pineapple to give it some texture as it seemed to be just straight from the can. The fries were seasoned well too, basic but good. We sat upstairs in the bar area. The bartender/server, Matthew, was amazing. Even though he was upstairs working a busy area by himself, he never let you feel forgotten.
