Not a fan of the pay(and tip if you pay with card)first system. Frankly I didn't pay attention to my ticket and later found I was substantially over charged when I was home. So pay attention to your Bill. That being said the place is pretty great. The service at the counter is friendly, however aside from food being brought out to your table, no waitress waited on tables and if you need something get up and get it or get up and tell someone. I ordered the BBQ shrimp sandwich. Had smaller shrimp than my friends poboy but it was tasty. It had that Crazy Johnnie's Nawlins flavor and even had the dipping sauce on the side! The shrimp poboy looked pretty awesome and my friend loved it. The place is clean and has a cool local mom and pop vibe with a Cracker Barrelesque flair. We weren't drinking but noticed they had quite an extensive collection of alcohol with a clean top notch bar. Love the ownership nice honest food but I need them to bump the garlic, onion, and seasoning a little more and crispy fried batter. Lol This place is inviting food dishes to me are either great or ok. The bourbon pours are Amazing and welcoming for a restaurant to have. My kiddo loved the red beans even thought he did not like the onions and seasoning chunks too big but flavor was great. I loved the grilled ham n turkey on croissant sandwich forgive forgot the name. Self serve fountain drinks and silverware order at the counter when you walk in. But please tip servers they bring your food and will handle and needs additionally. And they check up on you often! The food was fantastic! The serving sizes were good. We saw a couple at another table boxing up their leftovers. They were each boxing good sized poboy sandwiches. I asked if they had eaten half and was told that they had. Wow! It would have sufficed as a full meal! I had the Bbq shrimp sandwich on rosemary bread with sweet potato fries and brought half home. Those of you who are not familiar, LA bbq shrimp is nothing like typical bbq. It's cooked in a butter sauce. My husband had shrimp egg rolls, which he was very happy with. After passing by here quite a few times and reading the Yelp reviews, I decided to give them a shot. The other reviewers do not mention this so I will. There are two large screens behind the bar and one in the corner of the dining room. I came here to eat dinner AND watch the opening game of College World Series with LSU vs Florida. I had the ten stool bar to myself on this Saturday night. I ordered the Seafood Platter which consists of fried shrimp, catfish, oysters and crawfish balls. I also ordered their Potato Salad for my side. All of the food was excellent especially the potato salad and fish. They have Cannolis with powdered sugar on them in a display case next to the order counter. I was too full to order dessert. But I sure was tempted they looked so good. The service was outstanding throughout my entire time at the Triple Nickel. I did not see where parking was an issue. Maybe it has been expanded since the other reviews but when I was there, the restaurant was over halfway full and the parking lot seemed to match that ratio with plenty of available spaces still left. read more

This is a hidden gem in little old Madisonville, LA. And if you like bourbon, then this is definitely your place. Probably close to 200 varieties. The food is also really good- nice service, clean tables and a great experience- but the cannoli, which is made in house, was awful- soggy, moist shell, and the vanilla had chocolate as well. So, we will skip it next time. We really enjoyed the gator sausage, cheeseburger with the fried pickles, and the fries were delicious. read more

I was a regular at this establishment for over a year. Food is phenomenal (although it is slightly expensive for a "neighborhood" place - but that's par for the course these days). Alcoholic drinks are superb and flow freely. The selection of whiskey, bourbon and scotch is outstanding, if that's your thing. The staff is extremely friendly, very attentive, and will even do shots with you if you sit at the bar!! I've had almost everything on the menu and was never disappointed. The Frickel Burger (burger with fried pickles on top) and the BLT were always my favorites! Never a bad one! On Fridays they have seafood specials that range from Crawfish Monica (unbelievably delicious) to Grilled Redfish. The BBQ Shrimp entree is also a fantastic option! It's all so good, you really can't go wrong. As far as the atmosphere goes, it is very white and bright and not really a good romantic setting, but a perfect spot for a family dinner or a great lunch. This was a place that I had wanted to try for a while. I went out & I was not disappointed. The menu was not very long but the description of the food items made it hard to pick. I went with the BBQ shrimp, on a croissant bun and it was literally the best sandwich ever. The facility is newly remodeled, the outside seating area is very comfortable, and the parking could be a issue but they make it work. The bar inside the restaurant is very big and the seating area inside the restaurant is open as well. It is a self seat facility but they give you a number to place at your table and they bring the food to you. I was not mad at. I do think they need a bigger parking lot, and they could use more drink options for the non-alcoholics. But the food was great and the place was neat n clean. read more

The new location for the triple nickel grill is the old location for five girls restaurant in downtown Madisonville. Although I love the five girls triple nickel is a pretty good replacement. They specialize in burgers of all kinds and they have a new daily special every day. It's not great but it's pretty darn good and it's something Madisonville desperately needed I will definitely be back in the very near future to give it a try again on their seafood which is awfully important in this area. Their original location is east of old Mandeville on Highway 190 and they were always known for very good burgers there. read more

The one thing that consistently shines at this place are the burgers. From the first juicy bite, there is no doubt about the integrity of the ingredients - simple as that may seem. There's just something elusive about a perfectly prepared hamburger, and this place delivers for me every time. This is one of very few places anywhere where I would not hesitate to order a burger medium-rare. Also, always neat and clean, quick and polite counter service, crisp, clear iced tea, and servers who care enough to keep the condiment bottles wiped down and shiny clean. The fried seafood is unnecessarily salty. The seafood platter should be called "French Fry Platter w/seafood sides". Tried it twice, the second time was two weeks ago. The first time I ordered it, did not come with oysters as advertised. I was not made aware of this when ordering. When asked about the oysters, I was told the owner won't buy oysters if they're not good. This was not long after they opened and every other restaurant had Great oysters at the time. Honestly if your supplier doesn't carry good oysters, they are not from Louisiana. Another experience was a Caesar salad with fried oysters. Was told the same thing about the oysters so I got the shrimp instead. The lettuce is pre-cut and pre-packaged. The Parmesan cheese is hard, flavorless and doesn't resemble Parmesan cheese at all. The selection of bourbon is another plus - if you want to try something, I bet they have it. The best of it all though is the service - Everyone is nice and always comes around to check on you. After meaning to stop by for a couple months, I finally checked out Triple Nickel Grill. If you eat at a table (inside or on a really nice patio), you order your food at the counter. If you sit at the bar, it's full service. The bourbon collection at this place is absolutely amazing. If there's a whiskey or bourbon you've wanted to try but can't find, you can probably try it here. The burgers are very good. The staff is very friendly. I only have two negative points. The parking lot is not large enough to handle the size of the restaurant, but that's not a deal breaker. The thing that I consider egregious is that they charge more for using a card to pay for your meal than they charge for using cash. They're passing on the credit card processing fees to the customers, a practice that I consider incredibly negative and a potential dealbreaker. read more

This place has good vibes as you enter. Looks very clean. They also have outdoor seating which is where I ate because it was a beautiful evening. The service was great as was the service. I got a Cheeseburger, fries and Diet Coke and the check was $19 +tip. The burger and fries were nice and hot however, the cheeseburger was nothing special and very greasy. I had to wrap napkins around it to keep it together and the outside of the bun became very greasy from it. The fries actually were pretty tasty but a little too salty. We had been wanting to try this place for a while and couldn't have been more disappointed. We ordered a BLT and a specialty hamburger. I wasn't given an itemized receipt, so I asked for one. After sitting at the table, I noticed that we were charged $14 for the BLT instead of $12 which was printed on the menu. I went back and said that I had been overcharged. I was told that the menu price was not accurate. They did not offer to refund my $2, so I persisted by saying that customers should be told if the menu prices were not accurate. She said that the manager would work on it. The price of a fountain drink is not listed on the menu. It was $3. Perhaps that would be expected in Ruth's Chris, but not in this restaurant. My BLT may have been the worst I've ever had. It had an adequate but minimal amount of bacon on it, but the bacon was so tough and chewy -- almost like beef jerky. It was awful, and the French fries were the worst I've had anywhere. I ate one and threw the rest away. My fiancé did not enjoy his hamburger. The meat flavor was okay, but it had so much mayo on it that he had to abandon the bottom of the bun and simply eat the meat with a fork. Mayo was gushing out of the sides of the bun. $16. We finished eating, and no one ever came over to refund my $2, so I had to ask for it again on the way out. After reading some comments here, I guess we were probably charged extra for using a credit card and didn't even realize it. We didn't see that posted at the register or on the menu. It was an expensive lunch and one of the worst we've had anywhere. I eat lunch out every day. Needless to say, we won't be back. There are far too many other options nearby with much better food and lower prices. They'll be out of business within two years at this rate. If there is one thing I cannot live with, it's sneaky deception. Not posting a price for soft drinks is intentional. Not informing guests that menu prices are not accurate is likely intentional as well. Too bad, because I live nearby. read more
