Highly recommend this place if you want to wait 30 min for your food and not be checked on. I decided to try this place out because I didn't want to go to a crowded restaurant and wait too long. There was plenty of open tables and didn't have to wait to get seated, my mom and I ordered our coffee/ breakfast within 10 minutes of being there. It was all going well until 15, 20, 30 minutes passed by, literally almost done with my coffee. I noticed 3 groups of 2 who got seated 5-10 min after us already had there orders within 15 min of ordering. I asked one of the waiters on the status on my food, I was pretty upset by then. I then asked the waiter for the status on my food, he came back and said my food "were on plates", 6 MINUTES passed by and we get our order. Nonetheless, while waiting those 30 min nobody came by to check up on us or tell us how much longer our food would take. Half way finished with my food I noticed eggshells on my toast, like how does this happen? I would understand if it was accidentally mixed in omelette but NOPE, it almost looked like it was done purposely. I let them know the about the eggshells and the owner apologized and said that they crack their eggs in house and that it happens, that doesn't justify the time I waited and how the hell that got on my toast?! Just doesn't add up to me. So he gave me his business card and offered me some french toast next time I go on the house.. LOL does that come egg shells too?! On top of that, my mom's tater tots were cold and her omelette very hot. It's sad that my experience here made me start my journey of making sure I leave a review on bad my experiences. We also got the Chilaquiles which was really tasty as well, I think the only thing I would change is the amount of green sauce that comes with it, it was kind of a lot for my preference. I loved how the drink cup they give you is really big so you don't have to wait or ask for refills and it's even better when you have drink to take home with you after your meal. This review is long overdue, but 10/10 on food, service, and community! My partner and I have been coming to Our Nest for almost 2 years and it is our go to breakfast/brunch spot on the weekends. We have become regular's and the owner's JP and Sam are always inviting and creating conversation. The whole staff is just awesome and always assists us when we need. Regarding the food, some of the best chilaquiles you could get around the OC area...and that's coming from being married into a Mexican family where I've eaten and tried LOTS of chilaquiles for breakfast, but Our Nest just does it RIGHT! They fill every plate with top tier ingredients, flavor, and of course LOVE! It's definitely a great environment and I am thankful we live so close, because it's been the spot I've taken other family members and friends too because I always rave about all of the qualities Our Nest brings. I ordered the 3 carnitas tostadas with an egg on top each one had a different salsa have to say they were all good it was very delicious I highly recommend. Then I told my husband I'm craving something sweet Sam recommended the French toast so we ordered a half order it was just as delicious as my other plate. French toast: 5/5- perfectly cooked and tasted amazing! Didn't even need the syrup! Eggs & bacon: 5/5- finally a place that knows how to do a soft scramble! And they gave me like 4 pieces of bacon! Coffee: 5/5- my bf loves Lavazza coffee and that's what they serve here, so he was happy Strawberry Mimosa: 3/5- ordered it with a frozen strawberry cube, no juice. Very beautiful but the sparkling wine was a little too dry for me. Second time we were here, we ordered: Moco Loco: 4/5- it was really good and had a "healthy" spin on it with the addition of sautéed spinach. Was just enough gravy but I selfishly would have liked more lol Mimosa: 5/5- the mimosa with OJ was hands down better than the strawberry one. SO good! The French toast was so fluffy and soft and delicious! With AND without syrup, the French toast was perfect. Found out the Breakfast Bowl was a new item and it did not disappoint. It was our first time here and definitely will be coming back again. Parking was decent. This place is delicious! I'm always looking for good breakfast spots in the area and this place is my new favorite (they serve lunch too). Our Nest is located on N. Placentia Ave. just passed Nutwood. bolo for it or you might miss it. The place is super clean and there's plenty of seating for the whole family, plus some friends. There are A LOT of menu items, which I appreciated. I didn't know there was a back page lol. I had the avocado toast and it was very yummy! Food was not bad but the only problem I had was that we spent close to $100 for 2 adults & 2 toddlers. Everyone didn't even order drinks or desserts for it to come out to this ridiculous price. Later in the evening we went out for fine Italian dinning for dinner and the price was only $70! To spend a whole bill on breakfast is absurd. Breakfast should be the most affordable meal to make. I can understand if we had buffet style brunch with mimosas and all for it to come out to $100 or if the food here was absolutely amazing but this place was none of the above to justify the $100 price tag. She took my order and after she took my order she asked if I would be okay with a 12% gratuity included. THIS IS FOR A PICK UP ! I'm not dinning in and I'm not being served throughout my meal. I asked her why they include gratuity and she became stated that this was mandatory to there policy. I stated that gratuity should be an optional choice not mandated through policy. Simple opinion. Pretty cool place for breakfast. We were seated right away. The place was clean and vibe was good. I ordered the eggs and bacon. Wife ordered the French toast and son ordered the Chilaquiles. My bacon and eggs were a good, standard breakfast. I ended up sharing my son's Chilaquiles and they were really good. The Carnitas were cooked exactly how I liked them, tender with a little crisp to them. The flavors were awesome and the tortilla chips were nice and crunchy. I also tried my wife's French toast and they were very good. Our server and the staff were very nice and I also appreciate that they have things displayed supporting our military. We had a party of 5 & we waited about 35 minutes. When we were seated it took about 15 minutes for the waitress to greet us. The iced coffee my boyfriend ordered was brought back 3 times due to unknown things floating inside the coffee. The waitress also never smiled at us which didn't make our experience any better. She also forgot the potatoes we ordered but charged us for it, which was removed after bringing it to her attention. Honestly the food is delicious ! Service was great... the first time we found this place. However, the second time we went there the service was pretty bad if you ask me. The second time, we got our bill within the first 10 minutes of receiving our food. We were a little confused, personally we felt rushed although they said " no rush" . For the time we were there eating they never came to see if we needed a refill on our coffee which we did . I had to ask if we can get a coffee refill. As mentioned before, food is quite delicious. The bread was fresh and no part of it was dry and inedible like the crust can sometimes be. Only complaint would be the service. She was friendly but working alone and very busy. Once we got our food she did not return to our table. We were not able to ask for a coffee refill or additional drinks which was a bummer. The atmosphere is nice so we wanted to hang out a bit, but without our drinks we decided not to stay. I wanted to try this place. DONT GO RUDE AND BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!! Im in the area at least a couple of times a year and I always stop by the FENG cha in this plaza (the best boba and great customer service). I had gone with a friend. She went in to order our meal to go. As I waited for our order I was a couple of stores down smoking my cigarette. The girl server comes out to tell me that there is no smoking and I had to be 25 feet away, in the parking lot. I guess they don't care for my safety. Fine but considering I was almost done I stayed. A couple of minutes later a man server comes out to harass me. Now by this time I'm done with my cigarette and he's still hounding me telling me he would call the cops on me for a cigarette. He assumed I was loitering or a worker there. I guess he couldn't fathom I was a customer. We cancel our order and as we walk away the owner of the store is in her car followed us as she's lecturing us. She states it's her restaurant and this gives her authority, to be an ass? We asked for a table inside and we pointed to a table for 6... we only had 4. We was told oh sorry we save those for bigger parties... really? Your going to leave a table open and make some one wait because your saving for a bigger party? What about serving the customer who is there now. We took a table outside and the service was horrible. It's like we weren't there. The food was late and when we got it was cold. I won't be back. We were not told it was a Donation table...but the question is are you selling goods or asking for donations? Blocking customers because it's a donation table could push other customers away. Train your employees to be more informative. When your busy as you were at that time is it really more important to push for a donation or sit a customer to sell food? I cannot say enough about what a great experience we had with the catering from Our Nest. We have been there several times and it is by far our favorite place for breakfast but it was a great surprise to find out they also offer catering as well. They gave us several options as to the style of the menu, we went back and forth between BBQ, Italian, Mexican and Mediterranean and finally settled on a Mediterranean menu. We had chicken and filet kabobs, hummus, rice, salad and an amazing tomato/feta dip with the most addictive fried pita. The food came out amazing, all of our guests loved it.
