First thing to know... CASH ONLY! Breakfast was great, but we were a little frustrated when we went to pay. The cashier told us it's cash only, so one of us had to run to an ATM down the street. We still had an 8 hr car ride after that so it was an extra 15 minutes until we got on the road. On the way out I checked for a sign that says "cash only," you know something you would notice as you're entering an establishment. The only thing I found was something you would see upon exiting. Arrived to find a line waiting to get in and guessed this must be pretty great food. Wasn't disappointed in the food. Typical small cafe with standard breakfast staples. Had the half. Hi Ken fried steak and found it to be tender hand battered steak. Country gravy was good and complimented the chicken fried steaks. Found the police patches on the wall a nice touch. We waited 25 minutes to get seated because of Covid-19 restrictions which we fully understood. Then we waited over 1/2 hour for our 1 cheeseburger. Our waiter came to us 20 minutes in to ask us what we had ordered. The food was fine, but our experience was not! People came in after us, ordered, ate, and left before we got our food.When the hostess asked how everything was, we told her how long we had waited, and she said "sorry" and sped off. All towns need a place like "Our Place." Friendly townies out number the tourists by far. Everyone, well at least the older folks, come in for their $0.25 cent coffee as advertised on their sign. Even better, $6 breakfasts is good enough to top off your day and get it off to a good start. They're known for their hearty portions full of tasty home-style cookin'...and you get nothing less. If you're not full by the end of your meal, purchase a slice of their homemade pie (I'd go for the rhubarb). I can't say its my own recommendation since I had to pass it up, but I heard through the grape vine that it's darn tasty. Take some time in between shoveling down the delicious food to share some words with the locals who often help the waitresses wrap silverware near the entrance. You'll hear plenty of stories worth your time and possibly worth your entire stay in Cody. Keep in mind that Our Place only takes cash, no plastic accepted. I could not think of a better place to stop for breakfast before trekking 50 miles (1 hour approximately) in to Yellowstone National Park through the East Gate. read more

Our Place is a cute little coffee shop on the way out of Cody towards the East Gate of Yellowstone. Their sign proudly declares "25 Cent Coffee" to the passerby's. Inside the shop is smallish and staffed by sweet older gals who look like they might have served biscuits and gravy in Cody since the 50s. The food is greasy spoon at it's best - omelets, pancakes, ham, OJ, coffee - you know the drill. The service is great and the food is just perfect. It makes me wish there were more places like this back home in California. On your way out be sure to stop by Tecumseh's Trading Post - probably the best tourist shop in Cody, if not in Wyoming. In the back is huge museum-like room with about two hours worth of wild-west displays for the grow-ups and kids alike. read more

Do yourself a favor and stop here! The breakfast was excellent. Homemade hash browns that are to die for. My dad had the biscuits and gravy and they were homemade as well. Cute little spot we came across close to our hotel. Breakfast was delicious, we literally cleaned out our plate feeling full and satisfied. I almost forgot we had ordered a cinnamon roll based on reviews, I just to order one. Since we were full, I asked for a box to go. We took one bite just to try and ignored the fact we were full. Worst place ever, we had a really bad experience in this place, the waitress was very rude all the time, she was very bothered with my two year old son. The food is really okay, nothing special. We didn't know it was cash only, then we went to the car to get the cash and a crazy men came after us screaming saying we had to pay, we were looking for our wallet and he kept screaming and saying bad words, very nonsense old men. Come on, the bill was 25 bucks, who is gonna run away from it? *********************************************************** Business owner, you must get the facts straight before coming here to write lies. Yes, we came in with our very small dog in a "KENNEL", the ones we use to fly in airplanes, and in a very high tone the waitress told us to put it outside, which we did in a very polite manner. Our son is only "TWO" years old, you can't control the tone of their voice at that age, different to your 40 something waitress, and if people have a problem with it, their lives must suck. Because "our place" is so stuck into the past, and you don't accept credit cards. My husband's wallet was in the car with cash, so I went to pick it up. At that time my son followed me, and he closed the door, that's it. The waitress started yelling at me that he couldn't play with the door. And again in a politely manner I grabbed him and went to the car. My husband's seeing all this bad behavior went out to avoid any confusion, and that was when the old man came out SCREAMING at the middle of the parking road accusing us of not paying the bill like we were trying to run away, only in his crazy mind, all the car doors were opened while we were looking for the wallet. Everything could have been easily resolved by being respectful and educated, but that's something your employees don't have. And I'm sorry but you are very wrong about it happening at other places, we have travelled the world with our two years old son and I'm stated to say it. If you are reading this, I suggest you to stay away of this place, the food is truly "meh", I bet you can do a better job cooking yourself, and there are better places in this lovely town, I leave as a suggestion "The Local". Let's start off simple: the 25¢ coffee is the best darn coffee I've ever had. It was rich and full bodied, and the unlimited refills felt like the gift that keeps on giving. My family and I had the eggs, hash browns, sausage, and toast. The eggs (over medium) were warm, fresh, and delicious-- the yolk was perfectly warm and runny and perfect for dipping toast. The hash browns were simple and minimalist in the best way. As my dad always says, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." The sausage was juicy and tender; the links are great, but the patties taste like little brown slices of heavenly meat. If mana bread came in a meat option, this would be it. We also had the blueberry pancakes and boy oh boy, they were fluffy. Topping that cloud with a drizzle of blueberry sauce was the blueberry on top of the pancake. The waitress was a sweetheart. Super nice and quick and attentive, but she never hovered. Plus, there's a bunch of military and law enforcement decor; back the blue (and blueberry pancakes). read more

My spouse and I ate here while doing a 7 day road trip. We got the wifi password, ate breakfast and went on our way. 5 days later we were back in Cody around 8pm and had no cell service. By chance we parked in front of OurPlace hours after they were closed and their wifi was still on. Saved our lives. Whomever runs this place. Will always have my business. read more

Good food in Cody, WY. They have 25 cent coffee and good breakfast meals. I had the veggie omelet with a good array of some tomato, onion, and mushrooms (though canned, but what do you expect). I noticed on the menu for a about a dollar more you could sub your toast for a biscuit and gravy.. and that was the best decision ever. It was so delicious! Wish we also came here for dinner the night before because I bet their home cooked specials would have been amazing. read more

Coming out of Yellowstone through the eastern entrance and headed toward WY you finally go through two long tunnels dug deep into the mountains. This means you're about to be entering Cody, Wyoming. One of the first restaurants you will see on the right is Our Place. Our Place exists in an alternate dimension where people are authentic, the food is fattening and they don't care, and no one is trying to keep up with what's currently cool. I'm not saying the people eating at Our Place are better or worse than City Slickers. Just different. Which means when you walk within its doors you are operating within their reality. This means go ahead and order the biscuits and gravy. Go ahead and order the french toast with hash browns. Go ahead and order the blueberry pancakes. Go ahead and order all of that stuff at once. Whatever you eat won't effect your waist line because, like I said, you are in an alternative dimension. When you exit the restaurant, the things we city slickers call "calories" and "carbs" will stay there. The food I would give about 4 stars. However that's not what this place is about. Instead order half the menu and soak in the down home ambiance, enjoy the small talk at other tables, and the colorful characters that inhabit this place all while you eat the deliciously fattening food. You won't be in a rush because time doesn't exist here. In fact, leave all your worries behind. You won't regret stopping here, trust me in that. Don't be offended if it takes a while to get seated and you stand awkwardly waiting at the door as the locals gawk at you either, that's just part of the experience. read more

The Food: Edible if you lower your expectations, which will occur immediately upon entering this dive, if the decades old "25 cent coffee" sign wasn't a dead giveaway it won't be the classiest or freshest of breakfasts. You can tell by the aging servers and diner-style room cluttered with strange pictures that it's nothin fancy, that's for dang sure. But that's how Wyoming likes it I guess. The Service: Exists. Over the course of a 2 week road trip from Texas to Yellowstone National Park, i had the opportunity to sample food in a lot of towns, large and small. The steak and eggs at "Our Place" was not only the best meal of the trip, it is quite possibly the best breakfast i've ever had outside of my own kitchen. While waiting for the last Cody bus tour of the season, i was chatting with a local and asked about breakfast places. She mentioned a touristy location down the block, then said "but if you want to know where the locals go..." And i did. Though it was a bit out of the way, it was definitely worth the drive! The steak was a small sirloin, about 6 ounces, and cooked perfectly. Two eggs, easy over and very fresh. Fantastic sourdough toast, the only hashbrowns i've ever eaten that were worth raving about. Absolute perfection. My only quibble is that the place is small, and the space cramped. Definitely not a place to go if you're in a hurry or with a large group. But the staff is delightful, and the food outstanding. read more

Embarrassing :( Now that thats out of the way.... We ate here twice for breakfast on our trip. Its very, very small. There is essentially no room to wait inside, but there are benches outside to wait which is fine when the weather is good (luckily for us it was) but I could imagine it would be a rotten time otherwise. The tables are crammed in pretty tight. Not so tight that its uncomfortable, but its defintely cozy. The food is very good. My husand and daughter raved about the biscuits and gravy and their bacon. My over-easy eggs were done to perfection, and I'm quite picky about my eggs. Coffee was excellent as well. Service is hit or miss. You could sit for 10 minutes waiting for someone to take your order or fill your water glass, and then in the next 10 minutes they refill your coffee 5 times. Since it is such a tiny restaurant you can tell that if you are waiting its not because the waitresses are slacking off, they are just kept very busy. Still, its not a place to go if you are in a big rush. You get a lot of food for a very reasonable price. My breakfast which included 2 eggs, a good sized portion of hash browns, a nice sized sausage patty and a delicious piece of sourdough toast so large that I must refer to it as a "slab" cost about $7. If we go back to Cody, I would definitely try this place again. read more

I would say our waitress was rude, but we had about 7 different people "serve" us -it seemed as though none of the wait staff were communicating with each other and out of the 7 waitresses that waited on us only 1 was nice and personable. Our Place is a nice diner to get breakfast at. It isn't anything fancy and I like it a lot for that reason. There are many locals who seem to frequent here and it is easy to see why. Their breakfast menu is hearty with all the morning home-cooked favorites. Their coffee is indeed twenty-five cents and the rest of the menu is reasonably priced. We were seated in a room off the main dining area which was pretty tight. When an older gentleman and his wife were almost seated there he, in a straightforwardness I've rarely seen, said "I'm not sitting back there; if I wanted to sit in the corner, I would've stayed at home." Sitting in that back room was one of the only complaints I had. Our Place staff got points though because without prompting they asked us if we would like to move to another table. Their food was solid and hearty. I got the huevos rancheros which was green chiliw smothered on a thick piece of ham, two warm tortillas, hash browns and two perfect (and I really do mean perfect) easy over eggs. My husband got two pancakes, two perfect (and again, I really mean perfect) sunnyside-up eggs, and sausage patties. He loved how well the eggs were cooked and he said the sausage was good but he said he wouldn't get the pancakes again. They have two options of syrup at the table, maple and blueberry. The maple, in both our opinions, was much better. The pancakes weren't bad but he said that he would've liked if they had been a little more crispy. One other important thing to note here at Our Place is that they don't accept plastic so make sure you bring cash. It was a lovely place to stop in and have breakfast with the locals and I would definitely recommend it if your Yellowstone / Wild West adventures bring you to Cody, Wyoming! read more
