We contracted Steve from Spectacular Pools & Spas to remodel our dated pool & backyard. He did a wonderful job! Our old plaster pool & spa were updated w/ new tile & mini pebbletec. We are so pleased w/ the appearance! He also transformed our old landscaping in the backyard to a drought tolerant scape, removing 20 year old hedges & a less than healthy lawn. A rock. scape was put in w/ more desert friendly plants. Our yard not only looks larger but looks beautiful & colorful!! We chose the color of small rocks & plants, picking out the area where they should be placed. Then Steve's crew, did everything that we asked. Our only problem throughout the transformation was that somehow, the tile place ordered the wrong color tile for our pool. Unfortunately, it was installed, but we came from out of town & caught the error in time. Steve was notified, & he immediately had it removed & had the correct tile installed. I see that there has been over 9 five star ratings. Perhaps they were the design and the overall installation process. I would give it 5 stars for that but frankly selling a pool design and looks of the physical traits are not enough. Our pool is about 7 months old and it has never performed to its full capability. It's a complete Pentair intelltouch or app base system with a self dispensing acid and chlorine adding system. We have never seen the chemical levels correct or even close to performing correctly. The chlorine level in the holding tank is the same level as it was when filled. Btw, they sold us the acid and chlorine system and made us fill it up. It's like buying a new car and the dealer tells you the tank is empty and you should fill it up immediately. We have had temp sensor issues which don't allow the Spa to heat to the correct temp accurately. We've been manually running heater which has caused a severe gas bill. In addition , Ive had to hire Pentair equipment professional and have learned the temp sensors are Incorrectly placed at Installation, the auto fill acid and chlorine are incorrectly placed on install. There are numerous check valves missing in plumbing lines. Who knows what technical problems exist with initial install and programming. These issues have been known and it's been the companies failure to correct. I've now hired a specialist to correct the system and get my system working as it was intended to. We should always as ourselves is the contractor the guy who pushes the pencil or is he the guy who designs , install a system he can support and stand behind. Is he the guy who hires a guy , who hires another guy to finally the guy who does the work. Who is it that we are truly hiring for the work. A license is great but I'd rather have someone word that's is valid and a person who stands behind there work in all aspects. A person who truly understand the system they sell, designs and install. Perhaps this company should do Designs of pools only. The 3 stars was do to the designs of a 30,000 gallon pool and 20 person spa. I share this info because these issues have been spoken of to this company and it's been too long to wait for a action. I've had to resort to Sharing my story to others now just to be heard. read more

Fantastic Job at a Reasonable Price! I met with Steve from Spectacular Pools regarding remodeling my pool. He was very knowledgeable about all options regarding a pool. The work started right away and finished on time! They rebuilt my spa, replastered my pool with pebble-like finish and built a shelf. It looks perfect!! I don't write reviews very often although I use them, they seem to one of the few tools we consumers have in the quest for quality service from the craftsmen who come into our homes. I interviewed several pool contractors in Palm Springs and the surrounding areas. I only called folks with good reviews and finally chose Steve Pinkoczi and Spectacular Pools. It was a perfect experience. I needed to renovate an existing pool, re-plaster, add a spa and tanning shelf, add all new pool equipment and pour new concrete pads around the back yard. Steve had, by far, the most fair pricing. Our planning meetings were easy and fun. Problems with the existing site seemed easily overcome with Steve's expertise. I got exactly what I wanted down to the smallest detail. All of Steve's subcontractors was friendly, efficient and diligent. Even more spectacular, there were no price overages, no budget overruns and he finished EARLY! I totally recommend you speak with Steve before building any pool in the area. 5 stars! read more

Having just moved to the desert and wanting a pool I spoke to a number of contractors and Steve was my choice. He came up with a simple yet fantastic design that fit the yard perfectly, and most important worked with my budget to get me a fantastic pool. His workers were all great and they cleaned up and minimized the mess and I was surprised how quickly it was done. He's by far the best contractor I've worked with in a long time, took more than enough time to do it right and explain to me what was happening and why, and work with someone who'd never had a pool before so was asking a lot of questions. I am writing this review for the person who, like me, had never before built a pool and who, like me, might be a little overwhelmed by the decisions, uncertainties, practicalities, expense and all the other unknowns that go along with the process. I had heard horror stories from friends about shoddy work, bids that suddenly don't match the final bill, work that was done in violation of or even without permits (and resulting fines) and on and on. I concluded that, knowing next to nothing about what I was embarking on, the most important decision I could make would be to choose a person I felt I could trust to guide me through the process. I pulled a list of four contractors, each of them at the top of some list (Angie's List, Yelp, etc.). I interviewed each of them and got bids. Steve and his company, Spectacular Pools, was among them (as a result of these other reviews on Yelp). At the end of the interview process the decision was clear. Steve and Spectacular Pools was it. Somehow I just knew I could trust him. It was the best decision I could have made. From the beginning of the process (design) to the end (follow-through and reconstruction of the yard) Steve has been fantastic. The first day we met he described what would happen and it happened exactly as he said it would. We broke ground on December 1st, 2015, and the pool was filled on January 11th, 2016. (It would have been before year's end but for weather delays (rain) and Christmas and New Year's.) I can not express how pleased I was with working with Steve and Spectacular Pools. I refrained from installing a pool for 4 years after hearing the horror stories most people have had with pool contractors. Spectacular Pools created a timeline and work schedule and followed it to the minute! Steve was clear, concise and exact on every detail. When he said a certain portion was going to take place at a certain time, it did! He had the entire job completed in 35 days, which was what he quoted, which was far better than the 3-4 months others were quoting. Not only was he competitive and timely, but the pool is truly "spectacular!" His crews were neat, orderly and quiet.
