I decided to treat my son and his wife to Outback Steakhouse as they highly recommended them. At a glance the atmosphere and ambiance were casual and the restaurant was a bit busy. Our server Cyrus was great and tentative, but service was super slow. The first disappointment was learning that they are one of the Outback's that does not offer an appetizer happy hour like the many others which is fine. On the positive they do have beers and other drink specials for a happy hour. We ordered a blooming onion appetizer which was pretty good. My son ordered a medium rare steak with two side salads and my wife ordered the 1/2 lb Outback burger with fries. It took a good while for the food to be served. When it finally arrived my wife was automatically disappointed as her burger was delivered as she did not ask for cheese. Perhaps the burger comes with cheese. But it did not say cheeseburger. The burger itself tasted ok. A bit dry in my opinion. As my son cut into his steak I could tell that it was undercooked. It appeared to me as almost blue rare. But definitely not a med rare. Despite being undercooked he said it was heavily peppered. My son apologized for the disappointed dinner, and said it was the first time he has had that poor of an experience. With that being said I am giving three stars and will consider a return in the future to give them a second try, at which point I'll decide to give or take a star to my updated review. read more

The front of the house was on the ball. We were seated quickly and given our choice of seating arrangements, booth, table, or combination. Drink order was taken quickly as were our dinner choices. The food was very good with the steaks cooked to order. Our drinks were kept full. Anything coming from the kitchen was "delayed" and mine arrived with a baked potato instead of the vegetable of the day. Our server quickly remedied the side error. Dessert, a piece of cheesecake with chocolate sauce took about ten minutes. In summary, if they fix the delay from the kitchen they will be a solid four stars. read more

6/16/2026. Have a longtime friend in town for an appointment and wanted to eat at an Outback since it had been years and he was wondering if it was still good. We had Sydney Shrooms, 8oz Sirloin and Alice chicken, 6 oz Filet, 6 Coconut Shrimp, and two Carrot Cakes. This was probably the best meal I have ever had at Outback as far as the food was prepared. Everything came out quickly, hot, and correct. It was well seasoned and tasted perfect. Whoever was the cook did a great job. Service was prompt and Courteous. Came in for lunch as my wife wanted steak For lunch. Seated right away and our waitress came soon after. Restaurant was clean including the restroom. My wife said her filet and lobster were good. She also thought the side of Brussel sprouts were also very good. I had the hamburger with a side of fries. The fries were good and the hamburger cooked to order. My only gripe is the hamburger patty needed more seasoning. I've always been a fan of the hamburgers at Outback but the last few times they have been under seasoned. So they've gone from serving a burger that I would drive out of my way for, to something that's good, but not exceptional. read more

First, I will say the service was excellent. Our waiter was on top of everything. The atmosphere was nice, the restaurant was calm with very few patrons. When it comes to the food, that was a pathetic situation. We ordered the blooming onion, the ribeye and shrimp combo and the 8 oz sirloin. it seems the onion was not cooked thoroughly, as the outside was crispy, and the batter in the center was still wet and uncooked. The waiter came out to apologize, as the kitchen was out of the 8 oz sirloin, so we went with the 6 oz instead. After the salads were served, we asked for the dinner to be packaged to go due to my lady not feeling well. We got her home, which was 15 minutes away, we attempted to finish dinner, and found the steaks lacked any real flavor, were mostly dry, and tough. A large portion of the ribeye was fat, and the sirloin was full of tendon. This was not a dinner worth the $100.00 we paid. Waffle House cooks a better steak. read more

The server was just not as good as servers should be in my humble opinion. I asked for napkins, got those little items one puts under a drink, had to ask for a box and a bag, it is just those little things that a server takes the iniative to check on and get for their diners. I also had dead lettuce on my house salad with a tomatoe that had its stem left on. The food was ok but it certainly was not worth the $97 we speant. Well this is more on the service then the food or ambiance. I was not hungry for steak but my close friend was craving for steak. We came from Chicago heading to Clearwater Beach and my friend craved a steak from outback steakhouse. Now I've been to several outback steakhouse but I am sorry to say this was one of the worst ones in regards to attention and service. The server Kylie was so in a hurry between explaining my friends discount coupon and all I wanted was desert. She decided to not serve my chocolate tower cake and assume to wait on my friends steak. The wait despite getting a seat in a hidden corner by the bar took more than 10 minutes to finally get someone's attention. The reason why the two stars at least was one of the servers to over the original server delivering however I wanted my cake earlier already which was weird and then the original server said she was too busy to handle my friends outback coupon. It's been over 10 years since the last tie I dined at the Murfreesboro Outback, there were too many instances when I first moved here of poor service and disappointing food. What's painful is I am a huge fan of Outback and dine at the Hermitage location even though I live in Murfreesboro. Arrived at 4pm, the place is not busy, and the bar area is quiet. Ordered a standard size beer, she poured me a large (in error) and said she would only charge me for the standard beer. I selected a Bloomin' Onion w/Ranch and for dinner the 6oz Sirloin with Grilled Shrimp, baked potato, and salad. The Bloomin' Onion was OK but could of spent a bit more time in the fryer. The salad was crisp and everything fresh but the Blue Cheese dressing was bland...should have went with Ranch. The steak was cooked to order with good flavor but was not very tender, while the shrimp were just OK. The highlight of the meal...the baked potato. There was nothing about this dining experience to get excited about, or justify the $40 price tag. The service was non-existent, after the bartender poured my beer and took my order she never checked on me or spoke to me. When I asked for the check she didn't ask about the meal or if I was interested in anything else. I highly recommend management and staff take the personal discussions behind closed doors versus at the bar for all to hear. The final straw for me was when the manager goes behind the bar while talking to the bartender, opens the condiments tray, and with his unwashed bare hands picks fruit out and consumes it. read more

Haven't been to Outback in a while but went to celebrate a birthday. Got there at 5:00, wasn't too busy- said it would be a 30 min wait and got sat 40 mins later. No big deal. Had our order taken about 5 mins after we sat down so maybe 5:45ish. We ordered the blooming onion for an appetizer, a medium well ribeye with a side caesar salad and rice, a side house salad with a baked potato with butter only, another ribeye medium with a loaded baked potato and side salad, kids chicken tenders with fruit and side strawberry salad with grilled chicken. The drinks, appetizer and 3 out of the 4 salads came out fairly fast. The blooming onion was fairly good, maybe a little over cooked but good none the less. After waiting an hour for our food to arrive we asked our waitress how much longer it would be until the food was brought out and she said "Ohhh, I'm waiting on it too. It's second on the screen." We had seen her maybe a total of 3 times the entire time we sat there, after waiting another 15 mins, the manager came over and said "Did anyone come over and tell you that we are out of chicken tenders?" Which no one had. At that point we had been waiting about an hour and 15 mins. My husband had ordered one mixed drink and just asked the manager for the drink ticket and told her we were leaving. She said "okay" and that she'd be back with the ticket. She never came back so we left a $10 on the table and left. We spent a total of over two hours there. Horrible service and no food. Or, an easy alternative would be to just simply communicate to the customer when placing the order that there's a large back-up in the line and to show up early. Pretty easy to just say that. I'm so incredibly disappointed. I came home today from a 6 day business trip from the other side of the country, looking forward to spending time with my family and a good meal. I ordered a sirloin done medium and a plain baked potato. What I received should never have left the kitchen. I had a completely water logged mush of sweet potato and a visibly burnt steak. It was almost entirely black. I cut into it and of course it was burnt inside. The server said she'd get a new steak for me. My entire family finished eating and I never got my steak. The sweet potato was the only food I had and I couldn't eat it because it tasted like mush. It was awful. The server said that particular cook who was doing the grilling "always messes things up." Why did that slop and burnt steak even get presented to me??? I spent over $100 to feed my family and I got nothing. Disgraceful. I've been taking my family to that Outback for over 8 years. I hate, hate, hate, hate, hate this location. Something is extremely wrong with their to go service and their kitchen. They have the worst to go service of any restaurant in Murfreesboro! Their kitchen is slower than molasses on a winter's day. I have had issues dining in and to go. Not everyone likes waiting 45 minutes to get food. If you cannot get food out in a timely fashion, you don't need to to be open! I mean what the hell is wrong with this restaurant? You'll spend 10 minutes at the to go area just waiting for someone to talk to you. Then spend another 20 minutes before the food even comes. This location is apparently poorly managed and staffed. my parents and i go to outback somewhat often, when we can afford it, but this last experience on Sunday(January 21 of this year) was just awful. it was me and my fiancé, my parents, and my brother. the food was ok but my mom ordered their caramel cookie skillet and she had eaten a couple bites of it and she looks inside of it and pulls out a LOOOOOONG hair. and i mean long. the server got her a new one and she took it to go but still. that is DISGUSTING. every time we go the service gets worse and worse. don't know when or IF we'll be returning to this location, which sucks because my dad absolutely loves outback besides their prices. i know it's not the servers fault and she was super nice about it but this is just unacceptable. Went to the home of the Bloomin' Onion for lunch today with two "Outback virgins"... and they LOVED IT! We had Jacob as our server, and *WOW* is this guy amazing! He's on point with EVERYTHING... so personable, really funny, and I honestly think he could get along with ANYONE who is seated in his area. He never once came to check on us and caught us with a mouthful... and you know how annoying THAT is! He really knows the menu and the fine points of each steak, side item, entree, or dessert... which really helped my "virgins" pick the perfect steak. For my bestie who said she really didn't care for onions, she sure did eat a lot of that bloomin' one... hmmmm... must have changed her mind about that! He got a big ribeye, some gorgeous mixed veggies, and a loaded baked potato... check the pics to see how yummy... she got some huge version of that steak, forgive me for not remembering what it was, a baked sweet potato with all kinds of brown sugar and other good things, and their scrumptious Steakhouse mac and cheese. I decided to get the chicken tortilla soup... oh my heavens, is it a bowl of cheesy spicy goodness or what... and the Steakhouse mac and cheese, which is a meal in and of itself. It's served in a little black skillet, topped with seasonings, and the noodles are TWISTY! It's so darn good!!! I got so cheeeeeeesed up I couldn't finish it! We had drinks as well... I believe he had a margarita with Patrón, and I turned her on to their fruity Wallaby Be Darned... y'all have to try one, if not just for the name alone! Soooo peachy/mango-y good! As we were waiting on the food to arrive, sipping and eating their wonderful dark brown wheat bread and seasoned butter spread, Allison came by the table to chat, see if we needed anything, etc. By the way, y'all... she graduated college in May! Give a big shout out to her and huge congratulations!!! YAY ALLISON!!! Anyway, when she found out my guests were first timers, she comped us the Bloomin' Onion! Wasn't that awesome? She's a doll... such a sweetheart! She makes the rounds, makes sure everyone is happy. We sure were. Needless to say, my compadres left with to-go boxes, as the serving sizes are NOT small. He said "the food was so good it made him want to slap his pappy" whatever that means! The prices are not small, but I feel the food and certainly the service we received was worth it. my last 3 visits to this out back has been: trip #1. I went specifically for Prime Rib and was told the Prime Rib oven was broken. Really??? S o I ordered Bone-In Ribeye medium, rare. Everyone in the party got exactly what they wanted BUT my Ribeye was well done. Gray unappetizing, a complete waste of meat. Told the waitress who assured me the steak more medium than well done. Really? I throw the steak away and ate the potato that was done correctly. Paid full price. Trip #2 for Prime Rib, ordered medium rare, 35 minutes later get told we're sold out. what else can i get you?? Just the check, which was appetizer and drink, and I pay. Trip #3 was today for, can you guess, yeah Prime Rib. 40 minutes later I am informed that all the prime rib is medium well. No Way, no how. What else can i get you/nothing i say, it's all covered he says, nothing, how about dessert? No just looking for dinner, He did cover the appetizer and diet coke so it's not like a total waste. The really sad part, I travel a lot for business and take clients to Outback for meetings, to the tune of more than $5000 in the last year at various locations. the next 12 months will be $0 spent at Outback, I will find another place in town for Prime Rib and I will take clients to better places. read more

First, the restaurant had a smell of old mop water, musty and sour. The bathroom odor was beyond sickening. Our server was terrible but I don't think the entire staff is that bad. Food was okay which is why the two stars and not just one. It seems Outback's upper management just doesn't care about the franchise any longer because I see no effort to fix the issues that we run into on the regular when eating Outback. The reviews we so miss leading on this. The wait about killed me at over an hr, but once we were sat our waiter Marcus was awesome. He was very attentive to our needs even before we had needs. The food was good and served as it should. I'm not big on chain restaurants. But it was a decent meal and I left full and extremely pleased with the service. Amy F.... I see your reply here, and I see your same reply to several other folks who commented on the very bad service at this restaurant. Clearly, this issue is not being fixed. You can keep making this same reply, but after a slew of bad reviews, seems pretty clear you should be focusing your attention on the servers, their lack of restaurant know-how, and the people who are training them. Maybe consider hiring an external company to come in and train your servers properly. In my opinion this should be a high priority for you considering what I saw going on that day.
