Unfortunately this is the worst Outback I have ever eaten at and I like the Outback. I have eaten here a few times while staying at the Courtyard and although the staff is friendly the food quality is horrible. Each time I thought maybe it's a fluke .... Nope! The salads are very small compared to other Outbacks and God forbid you get take out the give you cold bread! My recommendation is to drive past the Outback in Tupelo. read more

My family and I were in Tupelo for the 4th of July and if anyone here has been to Tupelo there isn't that many amazing restaurants. So we all decided to go here, the service was cool and the waiter was friendly. Our food was mediocre at best and we definitely could have had better elsewhere. I stayed at one of the hotels behind the outback due to work for a few months back in 2011. Let me just say that this was my absolute favorite place to eat in Tupelo, MS. I took my wife and mother in law to this Out back steakhouse 22nd of June. My mother in law had never ate at a outback before and she wanted to try a blooming onion. We had a great time, the onion was very good, I think my mother in law ate half of it lol. Our waiter, Jared, was great. Very friendly, knowledgeable of the menu , he made our visit a good experience. Our food was very good. I got chicken Salad and my wife and her mom got Solomon salad. Me and my wife ate here on a Tuesday night. The wait was about 25 minutes. We are both a tad bit heavyset and the booths we were put in were very tight fitting and uncomfortable. The food was actually really good though. I ordered a sirloin and grilled shrimp with Aussie fries. All of it was delicious. My wife ordered New York strip with blue cheese crumbles and potato soup. She was pleased with everything as well although "not the best she's had" is what she said. Our waiter was not the best I've seen. Glass was empty a lot for me and my wife. Past experiences in other cities with this franchise have been pleasant - however the tupelo, Ms restaurant is a disaster! We arrived early and very few other customers there. Our party of 8 each ordered at the same time. No bread offered and delivered after 3 requests. No drink refills offered, all had to be requested. One in our party did not get a salad and another did not get the entree. We asked our waitress 3 different times to bring the salad and entree. After asking for a manager, we did get the items, but he assured us the waitress said those items were not ordered at the beginning??? Everyone else in our party had finished eating when these food items were finally delivered. Very little in way of apology- more defensive, to assure us it was our fault. The manager needs training as does the waitstaff. In comparison to other locations of this franchise-- the food was very mediocre. You know, there seems to be a backlash against chain restaurants among certain people in Tupelo, but honestly, Tupelo's Outback is about as good as any independent restaurant that anybody else has conjured up. Maybe Outback doesn't have a smash burger or a $35 steak with locally-sourced but inedible cauliflower as a side, but Outback DOES have a damn fine sirloin, excellent burgers, superb grilled salmon, and a great selection of sides and salads. My wife and I had an early dinner one night last week, and we came away perfectly satisfied. She ordered the small sirloin (8 oz.?) with veggies and a bleu cheese wedge salad. The steak was cooked exactly as she ordered, and it arrived just as she was finishing her salad. I had the teriyaki steak medallions, veggies, and the walkabout soup. Couldn't have been more pleased with my entree. Good flavor, good quality ingredients. Our server was excellent, kept our drinks refilled, and kept the meal moving in a timely manner from appetizer to my wife's salad to the entrees. The only slightly negative note was our appetizer, which was the crab and avocado stack. Frankly, neither my wife nor I thought that this particular appetizer was well-balanced. There seemed to be too little crab, too much avocado, and not enough flavor or contrasting texture. It was also a bit mushy. However, the rest of our meal more than made up for the appetizer, and we'll just choose something different next time. With drinks, tax, and tip, we came out under $45. We sat at the bar and had one of the best dining experiences ever. I had the "Outback Special" steak with an added Old Bay lobster tail. Absolute perfection!! I was worried the lobster would be overcooked and tough (like they serve at Red Lobster) but I was thrilled when it arrived cooked exactly right. My husband had the same awesome lobster paired with his prime rib. I could see the beauty of that piece of meat cooked to a perfect medium rare so I had to have a bite! Excellent service, excellent food. Seated immediately after arrival (5pm Saturday) in a fairly full restaurant. Hostess very cheerful and friendly. Server (Trey) came quickly, was equally pleasant and helpful. Drinks and food served in appropriate time, drinks kept filled and more bread was offered. 2 other servers checked on us as well. I was expecting a nice thick filet like I always get at Outback but both the steaks we ordered were thinner than our cheeseburger at lunch! We asked our waiter about them and he said that corporate came in and said they were "over portioning" and putting way too many condiments with meals so they have decided to go with less quality steaks. When we spoke with the manager about our meal she said that they were trying to appeal to more people in the middle class so they reduced food to lower prices. Since when was Outback a high end place to begin with? There wasn't even the old style of filet they used to have on the menu to choose from. Honestly, this Outback has seemed to go downhill over the last few years. The last two times eating here has resulted in a bland steak, not cooked well at all. I had to send my kid's steak back twice. I was very disappointed and the service seems hit or miss. We still love the blooming onion so I am sure we will go back from time to time but I think you are better off going to Longhorns's or one of the local places like Woody's. I have ate here many times before but none were as good as this time. My girlfriend and I went here to eat 2-14-2016. We had to wait over an hour to be seated but we did expect this due to it being Valentines Day. Once we were seated we had the best service ever. We paid our bill and left. I live thirty minutes away from this location and I realized when I got home I did not have my wallet. My girlfriend call and they had it and said they would wait for me to arrive back so that I could pick it up. One we drove back and I got my wallet everything was in my wallet...nothing was missing and everything was right were it was suppose to be. Stopped here while passing through traveling. The hostess was super nice and even accommodated out seating preference so that we could keep an eye on a vehicle we were towing. I like to eat at Outback because I must eat gluten free due to health issues and they have lots to choose from on the menu. I ordered the new Victoria Portobello filet cooked med rare, but they gave me the regular filet cooked medium, leaning towards well done, instead. The waiter was nice enough and got me another steak but still didn't give me the Victoria Portobello. When I alerted the waiter (so I wasn't charged the additional amount), he argued with me that I didn't order the portobello filet originally. I did, and my family heard me. I wasn't about to have him take the 2nd steak because my family was almost finished eating and I hadn't even begun. The 2nd steak was mediocre at best. My family also felt the steaks were just mediocre. I gave it 3 stars because the steak was okay, not great and the bathrooms were clean. The waiter never apologized and never offered to make it right. I didn't expect the meal free or even the steak free they messed up (twice!)...an apology would've sufficed. read more

We were told to go to Woody's steakhouse and went by to find it closed on Mondays. Bummer! We had been driving for over eight hours and very tired and hungry. We had eaten at the Outback in Bowling Green, KY and it wasn't too bad. This was not in that category. The waitress was friendly and sweet. As always, I knew what I wanted. Not so with my wife. This threw off the waitress's timing, although she kept pushing things on us that we didn't want. That's what the "plastic" steak houses do; keep adding up that order. We know that and we don't play that game. We each ordered French onion soup, small rib-eyes, baked potato for me, macaroni & cheese for my wife, and broccoli for both of us. The broccoli was very good (that's hard to do in a restaurant.) The potato and macaroni were just "OK". The soup is normally is served 10 minutes before the entree but in this case came about a minute after our meal. I ordered a medium steak and got it medium well to well done. In the hub-bub of the entree and the soup arriving at odd times we tried to balance our soup with a warm meal. Didn't work well. We were comped for the soup by the manager (appreciated). However, I wanted a good steak. I haven't had one for quite some time. After tonight's experience in the Tupelo Outback, I still haven't. read more
