Burgers said med rare but we're so over done I couldn't eat it. Burnt my daughter's pizza. Only good thing here is the soup and egg rolls. Can't mess up pre made I spose. We stopped in here while in town for the weekend. The reviews skewed positive so we gave it a shot. We wanted to sit inside as it was pretty warm and humid out for the outside seating area. However inside, there were quite a few flies buzzing around. In just sitting at the booth for all of a minute, I counted 3 or 4 flying around us. As this bothered both my wife and I, we moved outside. The waitress outside was very friendly and helpful. The food was pretty good but the fries weren't that great. My wife got the parmesan garlic fries (which cost extra) and there was no flavor to them. The gyros I had were pretty good. The shoestring fries were flavorless. We go here often for lunch. Excellent food, good service. The burgers and sandwiches are all very good. Fries are good too. A can't miss place for lunch. I notice a review mentioning flies. There are some flies, not alot, in the restaurant often during the summer but we aren't squeamish about such things. I wouldn't let that stop me from going here unless you are. read more

Food was horrible, my sons burger was raw and they didn't make him a new one, they finished cooking it and then put it back on the same bloody bun. The dinning room was full of flies. This place is a joke for the price of the food. The French fries were way over cooked. I had to flag down the waitress to get a second round of drinks. Been here every time we have gotten the pleasure of coming to Tomahawk, however this bartender on Monday, Jan. 6th during the day is a rock star. Some have it, some don't, boy do I understand. She was busy at the bar, at the tables, phones ringing and taking 50% off orders for Tuesday, she was happy and polite, she was quick and smiley.... GREAT JOB, we will continue coming just for her attitude. The establishment could have more local WISCONSIN beers, #osobeers, but I'll drink Lake Front from southern Wisconsin, true solid IPA, (only thing I drink, if you don't have an IPA, Diet Coke it is! I am 58 years old and I enjoy checking out new bars so when I tell you that this bar has the rudest bartender I've ever encountered, that's saying something. Literally half of the people I spoke to in the place mentioned what a "b" word this woman was being for no reason at all. I mean it was a little busy but there were three bartenders. She refused to make a drink for my friend because he hadn't finished the one in his hand and then threw my change at me. The only reason I didn't give one star is because I've been here on other occasions and the food and service were better. I know it's hard to find help these days but I hope the owners get rid of this horrible employee before she costs them a lot of business. For management: I was afraid to ask her her name but she was working on 05/27/22. She has fairly long hair and was in her late thirties, to mid forties. Outboards seemed to be one of the newer, nicer dining establishments in Tomahawk. Thanks to its proximity to our rented house (literally right across the street) we did eat here multiple times. Our first experience was dining in between lunch and dinner. We sat inside and waited a loooong time before someone greeted us. After we were noticed the service was fine. The food was good too, especially the fried cheese curds. The curds were nice and crisp with a wonderfully flavored batter and great accompanying dipping sauce. On another occasion we called in an order of pizza and cheese curds (they were so good the first time). This time the food was not ready when promised so I waited about 10-15 minutes at the bar (dinner time and the place was packed). When the food was ready the curds had obviously been sitting a while and were nowhere near as good as the first time. What a disappointment! The pizza was good though, they probably had the curds done early and they sat getting soggy until the pizza was ready. They do have a nice, large outdoor deck that overlooks the river partially and the busy road on the other side. I liked the family friendly atmosphere inside, they even have a little children's nook for the kiddos to hang out. read more

My first time to visit and never again. I went on a Wednesday so that it wouldn't be too crowded. As we walked in, we started to sit at a booth but there were so many flies on the tables and benches. So we sat at a 4 Top table. Service was good. She came to us quickly to get our drinks and then our food order. As we sat waiting for our food another couple walked in and sat at a booth but they immediately walked out because of so many flies! We ordered a Mushroom burger and I had a chicken sandwich. My wife and I were on our way to our families cabin so decided to stop off and give this place a try. Was a little disappointed that you cannot see the water from the dining room, seems like a waste of a water side location, but the place was nice inside. It was a seat yourself place and being a Friday night I think we got their last open table. Even though the waitstaff were very busy they came to the table right away and they were very attentive and friendly. My wife ordered the walleye and I ordered a brisket burger. We both enjoyed our meals very much, the walleye comes skin on which she is not a fan of but all she did was remove it. My burger had great flavor and was perfectly cooked. We both loved the Parmesan french fries! We also ordered a bloody mary and old fashioned and both drinks were tasty. We stopped at this establishment for the first time for lunch today. Very disappointed!! We found an empty high top table and waited quite a while to be waited on. Finally a waitress came and took our order. We received our drinks in a timely manner but it took forever to get our orders for two 'wrap' sandwiches. While waiting, I noticed other people who came in after us ordering and receiving their food orders quite quickly. We finally received our order and after asking what took so long, the explanation was "there was a problem in the kitchen!" I asked for a refill on my drink, the waitress took the glass and never came back back with it. The food was very good when we got it, but would not go back because of the service! I've been eating at Outboards almost every time I'm out in the tomahawk area and felt it necessary to finally share my experience. This place is nothing short of AWESOME; from the super friendly and attentive service to the delicious food. I've tried many of the menu items and none of them disappoint. My little girls love going there too; everyone is so nice and inviting that they just have a blast. There are many good spots to dine in the Tomahawk area but Outboards tops my list! Busy busy , but didn't have to wait too long considering I had a party of 6 on a Saturday evening . The appetizer cheese curbs and pretzels were A-MAZING , the wings were okay . My rueben was delicious and huge ! The kids loved the Mac and cheese ! The other people in my party were okay with their meals , the brisket tacos, prime rib and another sandwich. Kids area is a definite bonus here too ! Hostess was great in getting us seated quickly and turning on one of the TVs to watch a football game we wanted to watch. The bartender and wait staff is super friendly and always tending to your needs in a timely manner. The food is outstanding. We both got a wrap and it was awesome. The food came out super fast, too. We were thinking that it would be awhile due to a Badger game going on, but it took less than 20 minutes to get our food. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone. Solid sausage pizza with a cracker crust that is better than most places I ever had. Cheese curds were good but not something I would order again. Decent views and plenty of tubes with what seemed to be a pretty regular crowd. Also a good brew selection and prices were in line with value. Not a bad stop for some pie and a brewski. read more

Well we know that they just opened. This new restaurant is converted from The Bridge Supper Club which closed after the owner passed away. The new owners family used to operate Billy Bob's Supper Club. Knowing that they just are getting started we hope they read this review. For starters they replaced the ceiling in the place with sheets of corrugated metal and that creates a terrible acoustic issue. The place when there are a bunch of folks is impossible to have a quiet conversation....horribly noisy...beyond comfortable level of noise. We tried the beef nacho's and found that it was a mediocre choice. They are served from inside a large can with a lot of nacho chips and black olives, tomatoes, green onions, raw jalapenos and shredded beef and some indiscernible sauce that was just okay for the palette. I'm from New Mexico and we are used to a much better nacho...beef was just simply shredded pot roast, the jalapeno's were raw slices instead of pickled jalapenos, the pico d guilo did not have any jalapenos and the nacho chips were sub-standard. My wife had the Asian & Ginger chicken wings which I tried, not so good, wings were small in size and the Asian sauce was way full of garlic. The accompanying celery sticks were 2" - 3" long. The folks beside us had the mac and cheese and he commented that the cheese was like Velveeta. Things that set a great restaurant aside from other are simple things like; Sysco Catsup and Mustard instead of Heinz and French's I think this is probably just a good Wisconsin "shot and a beer" place with just "okay" bar food. We go to Billy Bob's regularly and Nokomis Pub and these two establishments are head and shoulders above what we experienced at Outboards. Maybe we will try again in 6 months or so to see if it's better, although the noise would probably keep me away. read more

Beautiful location and great service. We had fried cheese curds and a pizza. First time trying this restaurant. The curds were great but the pizza was perhaps the worst pizza I've had in 30 years. Toppings were fine but the bread was dry and tasteless. Most frozen pizza from the grocery store would put this crust to shame. I might try something else here again but avoid the pizza at all cost!! read more

I had the shrimp tacos here and they were excellent. The tortillas were some of the best I had. They tasted better than most of the tacos I've eaten in Milwaukee and Madison. I have to ask all of these reviewers.... How long have you been a patron of "up North" or Langlade county restaurants and bars? My Outboards experience was above and beyond any of mine at any other restaurants up North. I have been a patron of the up north restaurants and bars for over 30 years. And all you yelpers have to get your expectations straight. You are not in New York City at Le Bernadin (Yes, I know a few things about restaurants). While no, you are not in NYC this place would give most 5 star restaurants in NYC a run for their money! This establishment is fabulous. When reviewing an experience at a restaurant I look for a few key factors to determine success. They are atmosphere, menu choice, staff friendliness and cleanliness. Let's start with the staff. I visited on July 2nd one of the most busiest weekends for up north establishments (if any of you frequented this area enough you would know this), and did I wait yes, however I was in good company and the staff was attentive. They let us know ahead of time they just opened, it would be awhile and if we were okay with that let me take your order. I had to call our waitress once or twice but she came quickly and was very helpful. Answered my questions and even talked a bit with my 2 year old. (Mariah you are a sweetheart.) Now for the menu and food. We had a party of 8. We tried various items on the menu. Cheese curds, to die for! Burger, very juicy and yummy. Brisket, best I have had and I have had a lot of brisket. Bacon Mac and cheese, the cheesiest. (those of you that are afraid of a little sauce should not be eating bacon mac by the way, don't you know that is how it is supposed to be made.) My 2 year old had the kids mac and cheese and kept yelling at me because I kept eating it! We also had a pizza as a side.. (Yes we are those people) thin, very crispy and tasty. So all in all the food was Awesome. Next atmosphere. Wow what a great job refurbishing the Bridge. These owners got it right. It has a touch of rustic up north feel, but with that boating theme most college kids appreciate. Love the kids area, my 2 year old kept wanting to watch the BEE movie they had on the TV. Also the outdoor patio was very quaint and comfortable even on a hot summer day. They were set up with a beer truck for the anticipated busy holiday. Did ya all go in the men's bathroom. Who would ever think of a Keg urinal! The ladies restroom was delicate and very nice. An up north bar with a changing table! What a relief. OK so for a big one on my list. Cleanliness. If you have been to some up north bars you know this often is a problem. You leave and you need a shower. Wow what a clean place. Staff was well dressed, bathrooms clean, and again the décor lends for this place to remain clean and tidy for years to come. So... New owners of the Outboards keep it going and I will keep it real. We "real" up north folks know what a great job you are doing and we appreciate your dedication to adding a high level establishment to the area.
