Called this year and were advised it has changed ownership. The new owner Jack needed to call us back to discuss the trip. We have now called numerous times and sent multiple emails in addition to reaching out of Facebook. Just this morning, we called again to be advised by a person that "jack" has to call us back. She advised she told reminded Jack numerous times.... Sad, as this was a real gem.

She stopped to asked the locals where to find moose and spoke endlessly about the types of trees in NH. No moose were spotted at all even after a desperate mosquito infested walk through the woods (yes, we had bug spray but it didn't make a difference). We were told "plan B" was to drive up and down the same highway at midnight to see if the moose were out. This was a surprise for my husbands birthday, It was a surprise for both of us! This was a complete waste of time and money.

Lucy met us in the morning and we went straight to the river. It was such a gorgeous and enjoyable ride and she was so pleasant and relaxed the whole way through. She gave us some simple tips on kayaking and also some nice information on some of the wildlife and history of the area. When we reached Lake Ossipee the wind was very strong which made the lake very choppy and her lead was so assuring in the challenge that lay ahead of us - she was awesome and we made it to the other side of the lake without any issues whatsoever. From the guy that checks you in to the guy who handles fitting you for rentals (and was the same guy that gave our group their lesson), to the people in the restaurant that carried our food all the way out to a picnic table outside * Full breadth of trails for all abilities -- long, interesting trails that are very well maintained * Priced right for what you get We had done zip lining at a different place earlier in the week and the price for the zip lining was almost the same as the "Find Your Ride" package that included a full day lift ticket, bike rental (along with helmet and pads), and an almost 2 hour lesson that included a trip down the Freedom Trail (easiest trail). The bikes were all in very good working condition and were prepared for us prior to arrival based on the height and weight info we provided during registration. There is far more physical fitness required for this than expected. It's not like zip lining where you just sit in a harness and hang on. Your quads and upper arms and hands will all feel the burn after the second ride down -- we did 5 rides and were absolutely exhausted by the end -- and we consider ourselves rather fit. The good news is that the food options were great (more than just hotdogs and chicken fingers -- check out the menu online) and they have a dozen decent beers on tap so if some of your group wants to pack it in after a couple rides, there is enough to keep them occupied while waiting. There are picnic tables with umbrellas or you can sit inside. Our biggest complaint is the online waiver process. It is so long and doesn't account for families signing up -- all the information had to be repeated multiple times. It also asked for things like Drivers License # and that seems over the top for a MINOR's waiver! Please, this needs to be more reasonable and ask for names, birthdates, and phone number and email address -- and if the parent is filling it out for the kid, it should only require name and birthday -- the kid doens't have any ID documents.

My main issue with Dive Winnipesaukee isn't selection or pricing--it's the staff. Diving Lake Winnipesaukee is cold, dark, has a short season, rough water, and not a lot to see. I spend my personal time on this, driving the boat of the car up to an hour just to get to this shop and another hour in four foot chop to reach a dive site on the opposite end of the lake. Between hauling heavy gear and long drives, the process is already a hassle. The staff could easily make the experience better and the day better, but instead, they make it worse. I've been here a few times. I walk in through the back door to the front counter and stand there while two teenagers focus on renting someone a canoe. Five minutes pass without a greeting, an acknowledgment, a basic "we'll be right with you " or even better a "you finish this while I help this person" (it doesn't take two people to rent a trampoline). Eventually I see someone in the back room, go to that employee, and politely ask to get a tank serviced and rent another one for the day. The transaction itself is purely clinical--exactly like walking into a doctor's office. I get handed a clipboard, fill it out, show my dive card, pay for the rental, get my receipt, and get sent on my way. When checking in my tank for a simple visual inspection, the staff member behind the counter asked for the date of manufacture on the tank. I mentioned I bought it brand new last year (meaning it's less than five years old), and she retorted, "Well, I need to check to make sure it doesn't need a hydrostatic inspection." Everyone in the dive community casually calls it a hydro. Using full the terminology just comes across as insecure (like you have to prove you know the full name) or it's pretentious. During a 15-minute rental process at any other dive shop I've ever been to, there's some basic small talk. Staff ask where you're diving today or talk about local sites, and you get to know the people. Here that isn't the case. The staff is generally unfriendly. I don't like going in there, I don't like interacting with them, and I'd rather avoid them entirely. My friend who knows them, said their problem is they're the only dive shop on the lake. He says competition demands exceptional service and customer loyalty where a monopoly does not. I agree. If another dive shop opened anywhere on Winnipesaukee, I would switch to them in a heartbeat, even if it were more expensive or further away.
