Outlook Eyecare, Princeton - the only reason you get 2 stars is because I think Dr. Ritterbusch is a good Dr. The scheduling, "technicians" (I use that term lightly) are inefficient and uncaring. Today I had an appt scheduled (3 months ago) and as I sat in the waiting room for 50 minutes I watched as patients just arriving were taken in. An hour later I was finally called to have my eye dilated; the technician, literally held the dropper bottle of solution12 inches above my eye causing the solution to drip on my face. I called that to her attention and she said Oh, sorry that was new bottle and proceeded to do the same exact thing with the second drop. An hour and a half later I (finally) saw Dr. Ritterbusch, I told her about the wait time I experienced and her "excuse" was that they were privately owned and the scheduling was over booked. In other words, we jam the patients in and make as much money as possible without regard to peoples work schedules or the time they wait. If I was an hour and a half late for my appt, first I would be charged for it and then I would be told to reschedule. After 10 years of going to this place I am done. read more

Dr Ritterbusch is awesome but the practice is a mess. They've just lost another patient. Dr Saipe was to do a laser treatment last month but insisted on doing an exam instead, not willing to honor the exam of a specialist. Saipe concurred that the treatment was necessary. It was to happen today but after nearly two hours of waiting, with a surly technician dilating my eye after her own "exam," I was again left waiting for nearly forty minutes. No info, no explanation, no estimate of when I would see the doctor. Finally left. Overcrowded waiting room had several patients in the same situation. Poor management and no follow up. My husband and I have been patients at Outlook for more than ten years, but the practice is now under new ownership, and the receptionists don't seem concerned about how well (or badly) they treat patients. I arrived on time this afternoon for my scheduled eye exam appointment. After waiting 45 minutes, and seeing others who had checked in after me being taken back to see the doctor or the technician, I asked the receptionist (politely) why I hadn't been seen yet. Neither the receptionist nor the eye tech who had just appeared had an answer, nor were they concerned that they'd just wasted 45 minutes of my time. The receptionist told me that once the exam process began, it could take an additional hour. When I said that I couldn't stay for another hour, and that I thought an apology was in order, the receptionist said "I'm sorry" and asked if I wanted to reschedule. I replied that I wasn't sure I wanted to return at all. I've already gotten a recommendation for a new eye doctor. I don't recommend Outlook Eye Care unless you don't care how their staff treats you, and you're happy cooling your heels in their waiting room. read more

Dr Coleman seems competent and nice but good luck to you if you are trying to use your health insurance here. If some things are covered by your vision plan and some by your medical plan, pick one and pay list price for the others because it is their "policy" to only put a claim through for one or the other. Not that they can't, just that it is their "policy". And if you'd like to talk to a billing supervisor, apparently there's another policy to ignore requests for call backs. Lots and lots of choices for eye care out there and I won't be back to Prism/Outlook. read more

I was a patient and client of Outlook Eyecare for over 15 years, and purchased many thousands of dollars in boutique glasses over that time, but the relationship ended. Early in 2024, I received, out of the blue, a letter from a collection agency seeking payment for $150, owed to Outlook Eycare. I was stunned, unaware of any overdue bill, and I immediately contacted Outlook to inquire. After some research, I confirmed the outstanding bill was owed, and was a non-covered deductible amount I neglected to pay, TWO YEARS EARLIER. I have sterling credit and have never defaulted on a bill or dealt with a collection agency in my 55 years, but in this case, a human error occurred, my error, and I promptly paid the bill. What I lamented was that no human response occurred from Outlook. I was a current patient and had been to the office six times since that bill was overlooked, but no one uttered a word as I stood there. I received several subsequent invoices for services, but nowhere did they reflect a past balance due. But the overdue balance was languishing in the background and, one day, was unceremoniously handed over to a collection agency. Outlook was acquired by a group called Prism a few short years ago and, since that time, I saw the quality of the front desk staff deteriorate, the administrative service level turn cold, and then my overdue bill experience occurred. I attempted to write to Prism through their website but, true to form, there is no link enabling electronic communication; they don't want to hear from anyone. I wouldn't either, if I placed profits before people, such as having no mechanism in place to correct a small oversight involving a very good, long-standing customer. To be clear, I am zeroing in on Outlook and Prism's present day business practice, not the quality of care I received. Drs. Ritterbusch and Coleman are top notch, highly recommended, and I will miss them. But I will take my money and loyalty elsewhere where it is valued, and where there remains a human element, as once was the case at Outlook Eyecare. read more

Do not recommend. Terrible service, rude unprofessional attitude not only from the front desk but from the tech AND Dr Ritterbusch. When I complained about being made to wait well beyond our appointment time (despite arriving very early and asking nicely if it would be possible to be seen early) not only was there ZERO communication that we would in fact be seen LATE, there was also ZERO apology (apologies go a long way with your customers FYi) and a nasty condescending attitude from everyone there. I then found out that the Dr took it out on my child during her exam as well which is beyond unacceptable. My child came out of the exam room very upset because Dr Ritterbusch had berated her for complaining about the wait (it was ME the parent who complained). A healthcare "professional"should never take things out on their patient-especially a child!!!! if the dr is so unprofessional in her behavior, it calls into question her professional abilities as well-we are transferring care to another practice after many years here (and other instances of poor to unacceptable service). So glad we have choices-would advise making a different choice other than this practice/doctor. read more

This is by far the worst Dr's office I have ever visited. The other poor reviews on here are 100% correct about the front desk. They make you feel like they are providing free service. They have zero care or concern for patients. I am surprised the Dr's/owners are not aware of this problem. The receptionist I talked to was rude & unequipped to handle day to day operations. She dismissed me by saying & "I am too busy & have no time to deal with your issue". Yes, it did happen to me at this place. Here is some context: I went there with most of the forms ready but I missed filling out a census form & a signature on another. She showed clear displeasure at the incomplete forms by her demeanor, rolling her eyes & slamming the incomplete forms on the front window. I exercised patience since I clearly care only about the Dr's services & not just an ill mannered staff. She does not seem to know how a vision plan works & insisted I needed a member ID. The vision plan site clearly states & I called to confirm that no ID or card is necessary for service. She however did not want to go forward with my appointment, did not seek help from other staff. Despite that I tried to work with her & got her the employee ID she wanted by calling my employer. I waited patiently for any kind of co-operation but after a while it was clear I wasn't going to get any. I didn't see a Dr despite having an appointment. I wish I could file a formal grievance so others wouldn't experience what I did! read more

they seem unable to manage appointments. if I check in at 7:55 am for my 8 am appointment, why do I sit in the waiting room until 8:30? maybe because the tech got there at 8:20 and had to eat her breakfast? 8 am is the second appointment of the day and they are already behind! one time is understandable, but the same thing happened last year. Had a first appointment today. I was next in line as a woman behind me acted as if she didn't see me, is going to walk in front of me. Oh sorry, and went right back behind me. So you figure the next receptionist knew I was next can't miss me, just to hand in my information. Once again the Indian woman just go right in front of me to the window, as I look at the receptionist. Like really we are doing this. The receptionist said, nothing. Engaged the lady in the conversation, took her stuff. Please you knew I was next, I am 5ft 7in tall black woman can't miss. The descent thing would of been to say to the woman ma'am you were not next, say something. Don't act like I am freaking invisible. WTH. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. I didn't wait more than 10 mins for the appointment. The doctor is pretty nice. The only negative is that they do not give you your PD (pupil distance), even after buying glasses from them for years at such a high rate. They give you the run around after asking for it, only to be told that it is their policy (or against the law pending on who you ask) not to give it to you. My body, my information. It was terrible. There was a long wait to get the eye exam even with an appointment. I had contacts exam and ordered two types of contacts from them. The price for the contacts is already higher than the usual market price such as CVS, Walmart for the exact same model and brand. When I picked them up, they only gave me one type. They secretly replaced the other one I ordered with something different without even asking me! read more

They're probably extra nice to me since my wife used to work there. They do great work, are friendly and have great service.

I had cataract surgery at another eye care group in Princeton, with high end ($$$) lenses but my eyes wouldn't focus. They wanted to do laser treatment but fortunately I mentioned it to my primary care MD who told me that the laser treatment would make it impossible to change lenses. Luckily, I went to Outlook Eyecare and Dr. Grabowski was able to replace the lenses with regular ones and it is now two years out and I couldn't be happier that I made the change. This practice is friendly, responsive, handles all the insurance... so glad I found them in time! Turns out my friends have had positive experience too. read more

I strongly recommend against using Outlook Eyecare. They have withheld medical information from me, lied about reason for doing so, and as a result I do not believe them to be a trustworthy company worthy of my business or yours. I had been a customer of Outlook for four years before relocating to DC, purchasing through them at various times glasses and contact lenses. I requested my prescription so that I could order glasses online, after having just again used my vision benefit to purchase contact lenses, I was told I had all of the information needed to purchase my glasses online (I asked specifically on this point). This lacked the pupillary distance, needed to purchase glaseses online. however. I called the office to request this information, and I was first told that it was against state law to give me this information (it's not). I was then told by the office manager that this measurement of my body wasn't part of my medical information and that it was office policy not to provide it. I was subsequently told a number of reasons that it had to be measured each time I bought glasses; since my prescription hadn't changed, none of these applied. They told me that they didn't know where this information was and that it wasn't part of my medical record. Finally, after threatening to file a complaint with the State Board of Optometrists, they called me back and gave me this information. Before this incident, I had only had positive interactions with Outlook and would have given them 5 stars. However, the layers of lies upon lies have reshaped my entire opinion of the organization. I would strongly recommend that if you want a company that provides you information about your own eyes, and that will deal with you straightforwardly, you look elsewhere for eyecare. Outlook Eyecare should be ashamed of their misleading practices, and they do not deserve your business. read more

I had a pretty bad experiences here, so that is why I am going to the trouble of posting. I was at the Outlook Eyecare Offices both in Princeton and Monroe, same staff in both locations, for a total of 3 visits. There were about 8 or 9 unpleasant aspects, so I will only bother recording a few. I was kept waiting for an hour and 45 minutes. They ushered me from one room to another, waiting here and there with no doctor or tests. At one point they tried to usher me out, and said goodbye, before I had even seen a doctor. When she saw me the second time, The doctor said "I'm so confused", and after a while she said, "Oh, this isn't even your chart". They scheduled the same field of vision test three different times, accidentally, and I'm still not even sure it was relevant to my problem. The staff was condescending when I asked questions. Twice I overheard the same nurse/assistant talking in the hallway, complaining about different patients, within my earshot. I asked for a new prescription every visit, and each time was told I had to make another appointment for that, and a separate appointment for contacts than for glasses (this has never happened anywhere else I've gone, and after the third visit I still do not have a new prescription). There was no information in advance, like if I needed to bring someone to drive me home. I called and asked that, in advance, after the second visit, and the woman rudely said "How would I know?" and refused to find out for me. After three visits I still don't have a clear idea of what to do, so I am going to a different doctor. At least I had a diagnosis, whether accurate or not I am unsure. Meanwhile, my vision in one eye is blurred and maybe permanently blurred. read more

Only bad and horrible experiences with this practice! I used to go because the location was convenient, and the eye exams seemed fine, but the office was always a bit snotty. My husband will never go back----not just bad customer service, but questionable eye evaluation and bad advice from doctor. Now, I have taken my son who has had some sort of autistic-like breakdown in, and we were treated terribly. I had called the day before to warn them that my son has sensory issues and is very ill. One somewhat nice tech was gentle with my son, so we made it through a little bit of the exam, but she kept saying that someone else needs this room, so we need to hurry up. Then the doctor saw my son freak out, and was very rude, negative, and didn't even try to accommodate us! And we really would like to know if my son's eyesight problems are related to a need for glasses, or if his brain is swelling! Plus, lots of nasty looks from the staff---really? So, after many negative experiences with this unprofessional office, I cannot recommend that anyone go there! Find another eye doctor! These people don't deserve your business! read more

While the eye exams are questionable, for some unknown reasons I need to come back every 6 months for reexam, the staff seems to be OK. They repeat many of the same tests every time I go in and when I ask why am told they just want to check. Wait times are at least 30 - 45 minutes before even getting to the first of several room shuffles. The Optical department for getting your eyeglasses is questionable on skills and knowledge at best. I would stay well away from these folks. Overall, look around for other sources for your eyecare, you will probably do better. read more

Staff is insensitive and some what rude at Monroe office. Surprise are they really Medical service provider ? They should better learn how to talk to patient. Dr. spent less than 5 minute to both me and my wife combined and hardly explained in detail anything. We would not go again there and made mistake visiting there. read more

My family sees Dr. Ritterbush and we have been for years. While we do not have an issue with Dr. Ritterbush, some of her staff are very rude! They do not know what is going on with billing and they don't bother to look at your chart before they try to collect the $50 co-pay when you have a credit on the account. Not all but just most of them downright rude and incompetent! Will not be returning they just lost three people. There optical department is not much better and the communication between the front office desk receptionist and the optical department is just terrible! Not a child friendly place either! read more

Given the reviews I've read here, I have to assume things have changed for the better. During all appointments (3 within one week) the office was incredibly on-time (for one appointment I had just come from an hour and a half wait in another MD's office...) My initial time in this office, I saw Dr. Coleman for an exam. She was thorough and listened to my concerns. The real plus for this group was their attentiveness and kindness to their patients was genuine. Each time I was in the office there were several elderly, the staff so caring and helpful to them on many fronts. Each visit, Kay the technician was conversant and great at answering my questions. Now, to Dr. Ritterbush and Sandy...I had wanted contacts for over 5 years. My first attempt, at another opthalmologists did not go well at all. I had the feeling the woman fitting me, was watching the time instead of attending to me. After many tries, one of the contacts became stuck in my eye. I gave up scared that I'd damage my eyes. Five years later, my son getting married I decided to try for contacts once again. The experience here was so different!!! Dr. Ritterbush assured me that I could do this, she made me feel as if they really wanted to assist in anyway possible. She did not rush the appointment but took the time to explain about the lens she recommended for me. I moved onto Sandy for the fitting, WOW, she is the best!!! I was able with her coaching to get in the right eye but was not doing well at all with the right one. She had the patient of a saint and said she could fit me in the next day. As good as her word, we met and after some time and more insight from her, voila, I am wearing contacts! I truly do not think this success could not have occurred without the confidence and patience they gave me. read more
