The indoor Recreation Center houses a gym and has meeting rooms for various programs. And outside are more than a dozen fields for baseball, softball, and multipurpose ones for soccer or la crosse, et al. Almost forgot the volleyball set up with a sand base and the tennis courts. There's a one-mile exercise path with stations; a large picnic pavilion that groups can rent and a few smaller pavilion's too. For the younger kiddies, there's a playground with swings and two "structures" for different age groups. There is supposed to be a skate park and a roller hockey rink, but we didn't see all of parts of the park . As you enter the park, you can see some construction going on. They are building indoor/outdoor tennis and pickleball courts. They are hoping to open either later this year or in 2027.

What I got was one unstructured session in the kiddie pool--just swimming back and forth with no technique correction, no feedback, nothing. It felt like the instructor had no idea what to do. When I brought this up, I was told the training manager would attend a future lesson to train the instructor during my session. That's not acceptable. I didn't sign up to pay for someone else's training session--I signed up for my lesson. Even worse, I found out the training manager had already been watching the original lesson and allowed it to happen that way. So how is anything going to improve? I asked to cancel and get a refund, and was told flat-out "no" due to policy--no apology, no ownership, no attempt to make things right. Also worth noting: the reception staff was rude and unwelcoming when I arrived, which set a bad tone from the start. I can't recommend this place for adult swim lessons. Between the lack of professionalism, poor instruction, and dismissive customer service, I left completely disappointed.

The park serves…read moreWest Gate, an unincorporated area of West Palm Beach named for its geographical location as the westernmost gateway to West Palm Beach. Platted in 1921, it is one of the oldest subdivisions in Palm Beach County. I stopped at the park to explore and walk around for exercise. West Gate Park and Recreation Center is managed by the Palm Beach County Parks and Recreation Department. In the late 2000's, the Recreation Center opened with a gymnasium, meeting rooms, and a game room. The center offers neighborhood sports, camps, and community events. In the spring of 2016, a splash pad was added to the park. Also scattered throughout the ten-and-a-half-acre park are a playground, soccer field, picnic pavilion, basketball courts, multipurpose field, and 10-piece outdoor fitness equipment. Adjacent to the parking lot is a fenced in wetlands area. I appreciated the layout of the park and the large trees that provide shade. The spacious grounds allow for sports, gatherings, and recreation. The park is open daily from sunrise to sunset.

The playground is large and has a lot of climbing equipment, slides, and swings. This area of the park also has a covered pavilion with a picnic tables and a portable restroom. A few days ago a woman and her two daughters were shocked by the metal railing leading to the restroom. The city determined it was due to a leaky air conditioning unit on top of the restroom and they have fixed the issue. i would still caution against touching the railing just to be on the safe side. In the immediate area outside the playground there is even more for families to enjoy like a memorial meditation garden and aquatics center with pool, splash zone, and water slide. A brand new 30 million dollar community center is being built with a refurbished gym, wellness studio, cultural art space, art studios, rooms for STEM programs, new restrooms, and more. With the addition of the new community center this corner of Palm Beach Gardens is going to be an impressive gathering place for the community.

This review pertains to the Utilities Department located within the Village of Palm Springs (not…read morethe recreational center as Yelp seems to automatically assume). I was looking to relocate from an unincorporated area of Palm Beach County into Palm Springs. Since the apartment I rent is located within city limits, my lease stipulates that water service must be connected and provided by them. In November of 2016 after signing a lease for a 1 bed/1 bath, I headed over to Palm Springs Utilities. When I walked in the door, I immediately sat down with a lady behind the glass counter. As annoyed as she looked, she made a copy of the paperwork I handed her and proceeded to process my application that I had obtained through their website. After sitting there for quite some time, I noticed a bunch of people started gathering inside the office. It was only me and one other person around 2:30 P.M. in the afternoon prior. As I was getting near finishing connecting the water, the place became standing room only. A lot of people that were there had nothing but a variety of issues spanning from reconnecting services to payment problems. Once everything was said and done, I was charged $160.00. My jaw almost dropped to the ground, even though $150.00 of that is refundable upon moving out. Why, may I ask, is it so much money? $10.00 was for water/sewage I never used. After hastily paying the bill, I moved into my apartment. About one month later, I receive a statement from them in the mail. I used 2,000 gallons of water and was charged $42.64. Wow. Considering I work five days a week and live alone, where is all of this water going? Leaky pipes? I'm very careful when it comes to preserving resources. I take quick showers, turn the faucets off while brushing my teeth/shaving, and only flush when it's absolutely necessary. As of late-2017, the city imposed a raise in services. It is now $44.56 for 2,000 gallons. Somebody in their infinite wisdom decided it wasn't enough and tacked on an additional $1.92/month. Not only is the city guilty of ripping people off, but they have outrageous penalties. If you do not pay your bill by 5:00 P.M. on the 8th of every month, they charge you a $15.00 late fee. If a check bounces, it's $25.00. If they have to verify a meter reading, it's $30.00. When service is disconnected, they charge $60.00 for reactivation. And, if the meter has been tampered with that wasn't directly your fault, they assess additional fees. This actually makes me long for the days of when water/sewer was provided through the County. They were relatively cheap and easy to work with if there was a problem. The Village of Palm Springs is a prime example of poor municipality.

I was considered a faker of being gay since I was uneasy being open about it and that I moved from Michigan (a state that's known for its homophobic past). Since I was an adolescent at the time, their treatment was very scarring. It gave me a very negative view of the LGBT life. When I was a kid in Michigan, I was taught very dark conspiracy theories on homosexuality,. Going there dug them up. It was my conversion therapy, where it broke me down into tears and begged myself to be heterosexual after leaving the place. If you are new and uncomfortable with your sexuality, I strongly DON'T recommend this place ESPECIALLY if you're a teenager. They don't need the psychological torture this place provides.

Their website updates on Tuesdays at 5pm for new appointments: https://www.boynton-beach.org/news/covid I made my appointment online and received a confirmation email with a link to cancel or reschedule if needed. They provided a link to a form I could fill out ahead of time and bring with me. I was actually able to make an appointment for my husband for the exact same time slot, which was incredible convenient. Instructions were very clear: arrive no earlier than 15 minutes. 2 Police officers blocked the entrance and took our names, and directed us to park in what seemed like the back of the building. It was not immediately clear where we were supposed to go after that, since we were in the back, but since the only oher people who had been admitted were also getting the vaccine, we just followed other people to find a socially distanced line snaking around the building next to a chain link fence. Another police officer checked for the appointment times, more people took our form and looked at our id and told us when our 2nd shot would be. We followed the line into the building where we got a small white vaccination card. Firefighters gave us the first Moderna shot. A swift process! We were then told to write our own names on the card and take a photo so we'd have a copy of it. We then sat in a boring, blank room with paced out metal folding chairs while we waited too see if we had any reactions. It was very quiet in there. This was bare bones service with little info about what to note about reactions afterwards (and no actual checking of this). All in all, I appreciate the massive staffing efforts here to vaccinate multiple people in 15 minute time slots. They have an efficient, well-run machine of a system going on here. We did not have to wait for anything and the instructions given ahead of time were very clear. Thanks, City of Boynton Beach and all the folks who staffed this Center!

This garden was created in 2016 by the Compassionate Friends of North Palm Beach, a support group…read morefor parents who have lost a child. Barbara Capodiferro was instrumental in creating the garden because she wanted to give people who have lost a child a place to grieve that was more pleasant than a cemetery. Barbara and her husband Dominick lost their 27-year-old son, a Marine, to natural causes and Barbara passed from an illness on Jan. 12, 2016 but the project was close to her heart until the end. The garden is along the lake near the Burns Road Recreation Center. The city gave $145,000 to create the garden that includes plants, a paved walkway, benches, and a sculpture. This is the first bereavement garden that I have ever seen and now I wonder why more towns don't have them. It is such a thoughtful idea and it was so peaceful here.
