I hired Aspenwood to tear out and replace 4300 square feet of sod. Josiah came out to quote the job and his pricing was competitive. He was also successful in convincing me to consider a new strain of rhizomatous tall fescue over blue grass, with the former being resistant to drought and requiring less water to maintain. It looks great! His crew worked extremely hard and paid attention to detail while completing the project. Aspenwood had the right equipment to do an excellent job in soil prep, which included 15 tons of soil treatment. At the completion of the project, Omar (their crew chief) was meticulous in adjusting the sprinkler heads to their original state. Aspenwood Landscape is involved in other forms of landscaping, and I will be using them again in the future.

Admittedly, the only thing that gave me any pause was that he doesn't have many reviews- don't let that deter you!! Nick gave us an incredible design and worked with us to revise and phase it out for budget purposes. We completed phase 1 of the work with him this spring (deck demo and paver patio install) and it was absolutely seamless. From tweaking design to picking materials, Nick was always accessible and a great communicator. His crew worked quickly and efficiently and we are SO thrilled with our new outdoor space. We'll be calling Nick again next year to tackle the rest of our project! Cannot recommend him highly enough.

We hired Nick and Viewpoint Design Group LLC to landscape our backyard in April 2022. Our project…read moreincluded design services, complete removal of existing backyard landscaping and patio, save for one tree, pouring of a new concrete patio and hot tub pad, installation of a gas fire pit and gas line for our grill, new sod, 5 large trees, around 20 plants, and a new irrigation system to include new valves and lines. Many aspects of the project fell short, and if you don't want to read any further, my recommendation is to look elsewhere for your landscaping needs. Pros -Very solid design work, our backyard originally looked great and the design is much more functional and private. Cons -Patio: the subcontractor ran short on concrete and I witnessed them pulling what was left from the pump lines and a catch tray to complete the project. The result is a portion of our patio that has incorrect drainage/pooling, spalling and cracking. -Irrigation: and entirely new system, including valves, was supposed to be installed. None of the valves were replaced and I am now having significant problems that will require a complete replacement of the 20 year old valves. -Plants: Nick assured me that the 7 boxwoods he had planned would hold up to my two male dogs. They were dead within 3 months, replaced under his warranty, and were all dead again the following spring. In researching, it turns out that boxwoods are not tolerant of dog urine whatsoever and something else should have been used. -Fire pit: beautiful centerpiece in our backyard. Unfortunately, it was slammed together at the last minute and the internal structure couldn't support the lava rock. I rebuilt it myself less than 6 months after the project was completed. Lawn: extremely lumpy and uneven, is going to require a bunch of sand and labor to get it where it needs to be. I spoke with Nick many times after our project was completed to address some of these issues (not all were immediately present or known about) and was brushed off and made to feel like I was putting him out...after cutting him a check for $60k. Not only is the value not there, I am now paying a second time for things that weren't done correctly the first time and in some case were borderline fraudulent like the sprinkler valves.

Our front yard is very small and we have an even smaller patch of turf that we wanted some help mowing/fertilizing. I was satisfied with their pricing structure but for the fact that they wanted to charge an insanely high hourly rate for hand pulling weeds. I called to talk to them about this and to point out that there weren't many weeds that were grown but a lot of fledgling weeds which was the whole reason we needed the help (we handpick / dig up more mature weeds all the time). We reached an agreement we were comfortable with and then when they sent us an upgraded bid, they still had a crazy high amount baked into the bid for handpicking weeds. I called to ask if they could get an eyes on the property before we approved that high amount (as I was comfortable with them spraying instead of handpicking) and they said they didn't have time to send anyone out and that the height of the weed will determine whether they spray or handpick, then they told me we could handpick the weeds that were taller ourselves if we wanted to, which was pretty upsetting. I felt very nickle and dimed by these folks given that our yard is not very big and the cost including the handpicking was the highest bid we received by far. We wanted to work with them but they were so concerned about a team of landscapers having to pick maybe 5-6 weeds, they set a very high price. I even sent them a picture of the yard and they even agreed there arent many weeds but still insisted on the high handpicking charge. Very disappointed.

A Cautionary Review of Land Designs by Colton Our Experience…read moreand Lessons Learned Initially, our experience with Land Designs by Colton seemed promising. The project kicked off smoothly, and we had high expectations based on their assurances and professionalism during the early stages. However, as the work progressed, significant issues began to arise, tarnishing our trust and satisfaction with the company. And then they ghosted us. The Tree Planting Disaster One of the first major problems we encountered was with the landscaping aspect--specifically the planting of trees. Out of the nine trees planted, six died within a relatively short time frame. We had been informed that these trees were under warranty for a year, which gave us some initial reassurance. Unfortunately, when we sought replacements for the dead trees under this warranty, the company did not honor their commitment. This was deeply frustrating and marked the beginning of a series of disappointments in dealing with Land Designs by Colton. Contract Issues Another frustration arose when we attempted to obtain a copy of our contract. We had initially accessed the agreement through Google Docs, but it was mysteriously deleted. When we reached out to Land Designs by Colton for a copy, they claimed they could no longer provide it due to changes in their system following an update. This lack of accountability and transparency added to our growing unease with the company. The Deck Extension Debacle The most costly and distressing issue was related to a deck extension they built for us. After the work was completed, we discovered that the extension had not been permitted--they assured us that this was not necessary. As we began the process of obtaining necessary permits, we learned that the construction itself was not done to code. Specific deficiencies included: * Footings that were not deep enough * Railing spindles with uneven spacing * Stairs that failed to meet code requirements These violations have forced us to reconstruct the deck to meet code standards, incurring additional expenses totaling thousands of dollars. In essence, the deck project has doubled in cost due to their negligence. This has been an incredibly stressful ordeal, both financially and emotionally. Conclusion Our experience with Land Designs by Colton has been nothing short of disastrous. What began as a promising relationship quickly deteriorated due to unfulfilled warranties, lack of transparency regarding contracts, and substandard construction practices that led to code violations. We hope our story serves as a warning to others considering working with this company. Proceed with caution and ensure that every aspect of the contract and work is meticulously monitored to avoid similar hardships. Beware of Land Designs by Colton. What seems fine at the start may end up costing you dearly in the end.

Jonathan is among the most unprofessional vendors I have ever come across…read more For background: I hired him to work on my front lawn, and warned him I'd need him to be flexible as I was also getting a fence installed. I paid him half up front and he did some work. When I needed him to return to finish the lawn after the fence was installed, he strung me along on a finish date for months. I tried to press him to finish the job, and he got nasty. I'd often get trapped in circular conversations with his assistant, who hides behind legalese language, while Jonathan's correspondence was filled with condescension, personal attacks, and threats. (As an example: See below his assistant's response as evidence of the kind of legal speak they use, and how they twist it around in their favor. Pegging blame on the customer without accepting responsibility for their own awful service.) And they're thugs. I had to file a police report after he and his workers broke into our backyard _and garage_ to reclaim what he says are his materials. Some $10 pipes. This is something they'll point to in the contract as a thing he has a right to do. Upon terminating his contract for stringing me along, severe unprofessional behavior, and even violating our safety and security, he charged a termination fee. This would be laughable if it weren't so vindictive. Despite it all, I did pay him whatever ridiculous invoice he'd excuse with his contract in order to get rid of all the vitriol he was turning my way. So... Be wary of his, and his assistant's, predatory contract which they rely on to get away with crappy service. You'll know he deems your project to not be lucrative for him, when he gives you side comments about him "doing you a favor." He lacks follow through to complete a job unless it's on his terms, and he lacks professionalism in dealing with client requests. He gets nasty and personal if you get on his bad side. He loves to tout his educational background, as if to reassure you he's somehow different or that you'd be getting excellent service. Don't fall for it. There are plenty of other contractors in the Denver area who do amazing work in a timely fashion without all the drama. Save yourselves the headache.

A Stellar Experience with Evergreen Ecoscape and Design, Colorado Springs…read more Hey, we all know that Life is complicated enough, so it's always nice to call on really hardworking professionals to lighten your burden and workload a bit. With that in mind, I was extremely impressed with Evergreen Ecoscape and Design. They helped us with a couple of landscape projects for our house in North Colorado Springs (Northgate area), and their services have been nothing short of exceptional. Our first project involved removing some sod in the front yard and replacing it with landscape rocks. This project not only enhanced the aesthetics of our yard but also promised to reduce water usage during the growing season and minimize the effort required for lawn maintenance (mowing, aeration). Evergreen, starting with Wesley, did a fantastic job of listening to our needs. Wesley came up with a proposal that met or exceeded all our expectations. They ordered the rock, installed the contractor-grade weed cloth, and hauled away the debris, making the entire process smooth and efficient. One thing to keep in mind is that many Colorado Springs landscape companies do not work in the winter. Evergreen is a notable exception. They worked around the weather and snow to ensure that the work was done professionally and not that busy winter time. Their commitment to their work is evident in their ability to adapt to challenging conditions without compromising quality. The second project involved building a dry creek bed, or arroyo, in the backyard. This project was designed to help with flood mitigation during summer storms. Tyler and Luke were phenomenal in executing this relatively complex project. As with most projects, we encountered some snags, but Tyler was able to adjust the plan to ensure that the water flowed correctly and made sure that the water gutters from the roofs had an unobstructed path to lower ground. Very important for the torrential down pours we sometime get in the Summer. I was very impressed with Evergreen's professionalism, communication, hard work, and ability to improvise to ensure that the project deliverables were met. They assured me that they would stay until the job was done right and correct, which they did. Evergreen Ecoscape and Design is an awesome company to work with, which explains their high customer satisfaction ratings. They excel in value, cost, efficiency, and professionalism. I highly recommend their services to anyone looking to enhance their outdoor space. A+++ in terms of value and service. Thank you, Evergreen Ecoscape and Design, for transforming our yard and for your commitment to excellence. We look forward to collaborating with you on future projects.

However, after a couple of storms, our basement nearly flooded. We knew we were on borrowed time and needed to overhaul the drainage in our front and back yards. We decided to combine this project with landscaping and fencing to create the yard we wanted. We researched many other landscaping firms and did our due diligence. Then, we connected with Amy at Outside Dreams. From our first meeting, it was clear that she knew what she was talking about. She listened to our goals and perspectives and was invested in giving us an outstanding finished product. From that first meeting until the end of our project, she delivered everything she promised. Amy was great to work with from a design perspective and understood our desire to have a fun but low-maintenance yard. One of the things we loved about Outside Dreams was that they are a one-stop shop. We didn't want to coordinate between a fence builder, a sprinkler person, a company that does hard-scaping, a landscaper, and a junk removal company. Instead, Outside Dreams handled all of it for us, which was a huge relief because it ensured smooth coordination, communication, and accountability. The crew from Outside Dreams was unbelievable. They worked so hard, starting by 8:00 every day, and were diligent and meticulous in their work. They were respectful, communicated well with us, and cleaned up the yard every day before leaving. It was the same friendly team every day, and the great communication up and down the organization made the entire process seamless. Their workmanship and work ethic were outstanding, and they had the expertise to do all of the *many* tasks involved. The quality and quantity of materials Outside Dreams used were impressive. They did not skimp on anything, especially the cedar mulch, which they generously applied. The plants and sod they used were top-notch, and everything has grown in beautifully. They built us three raised beds with micro-sprayers, and we are now growing a bumper crop of vegetables! The trellis they designed and built, complete with three beautiful clematis vines, adds a stunning focal point to our yard. They also planted trees and shrubs on a drip line that runs as a station on our sprinklers, ensuring everything gets the right amount of water. Outside Dreams' attention to detail was evident in every aspect of the project. From the careful placement of plants to the meticulous installation of the irrigation system, nothing was overlooked. Their workmanship was outstanding, and the final result exceeded our expectations. Amy and her team were incredibly flexible, accommodating our needs and adjusting as necessary. Their customer service was top-notch, always keeping us informed and involved throughout the project. They delivered on every promise and went above and beyond to ensure we were happy with the result. It's hard to explain how much we enjoy spending time in our yard. It looks beautiful, and we are confident that our drainage issues have been resolved. We couldn't be happier with the work done by Outside Dreams. If you're looking for a landscaping company that combines experience and expertise with an eye for design, attention to detail, and outstanding customer service, look no further than Outside Dreams. From start to finish Jody and her team were wonderful to work with--they were highly knowledgeable, professional, communicative, and responsive, and took the time to make sure everything was designed and completed to a high standard. This project is something we'd been wanting to do for years, and it came out better than we could have imagined! We had a lot of different goals for what's a fairly small front yard with quite a bit of shade: we wanted an attractive design that would reduce water use and maintenance needs, support pollinators throughout the full growing season, create a firebreak near the house, have a nice space for our kids to enjoy, and add some edible plants/berries/herbs if possible. Wild Heritage went above and beyond in delivering on all of these criteria, and it's a strong testament to their experience, passion, and deep knowledge of landscape design, sustainable planting, water management, and construction. Our new front yard has quickly become a favorite place for our whole family to spend time, and our kids love running around the path, sitting on the rocks, watching bumblebees and ladybugs, and admiring each new flower that blooms. Our 6-year-old son now asks to go outside with us every night to read on the patio and is beyond excited to pick strawberries, gooseberries, honeyberries, and cherries as the plants grow and mature. And thanks to the high-quality soil, customized drip irrigation system, and detailed instructions Wild Heritage provided, the plants are already growing like crazy just a few short weeks after being planted. We've already gotten tons of compliments from our neighbors (both on our street and some that have been driving by), and we can't wait to see how our garden grows and changes over the coming years. We would highly recommend Wild Heritage Gardens to anyone considering this (or any) kind of landscaping project!
