My family loves spending time in outdoor living spaces. We recently bought our forever home, and while the yard had a lot of potential, we decide not to start a landscaping project right away. However, after a couple of storms, our basement nearly flooded. We knew we were on borrowed time and needed to overhaul the drainage in our front and back yards. Their workmanship and work ethic were outstanding, and they had the expertise to do all of the *many* tasks involved. The quality and quantity of materials Outside Dreams used were impressive. They did not skimp on anything, especially the cedar mulch, which they generously applied. The plants and sod they used were top-notch, and everything has grown in beautifully. They built us three raised beds with micro-sprayers, and we are now growing a bumper crop of vegetables! The trellis they designed and built, complete with three beautiful clematis vines, adds a stunning focal point to our yard. They also planted trees and shrubs on a drip line that runs as a station on our sprinklers, ensuring everything gets the right amount of water. Outside Dreams' attention to detail was evident in every aspect of the project. From the careful placement of plants to the meticulous installation of the irrigation system, nothing was overlooked. Their workmanship was outstanding, and the final result exceeded our expectations. Amy and her team were incredibly flexible, accommodating our needs and adjusting as necessary. We had a great experience when we first used Outside Dreams in 2022 for a front yard project. We were excited to work with them again this past spring, however, I'm sorry to say that the integrity and professionalism of the owners of this business has completely dissolved. They've become just another company who misrepresents and underestimates the quote and then comes back asking for more money once work has begun. This happened to us twice over the course of our project. The first time, we were told that the fence posts we requested cost more than she'd quoted and we'd need to pay the difference. We were frustrated since she'd come to our home to draw up the design and should have taken the existing posts into account when writing up her quote but agreed to pay the difference. Nearing the end of the work, Amy said we'd need to come up with an additional 3k for sod install despite it being part of the discussed quote. Lastly, Brittany and Amy also forced us to pay the project in full before having the irrigation checked and then took several weeks to get someone out to do the check for us. We won't be using them again. **edited to respond to Amy's reply. We left payment with the workers ahead of leaving on vacation per Brittany's request and asked they wait to cash the check until we reviewed the completed work 2 days later. Not 2 weeks. At that time, we realized they were not intending to install sod. While I know with certainty I asked Amy to match our existing fence, a quality designer would have made the distinction between the fence we currently have and the cheaper option she quoted us on during the time of project walk through and been forthcoming in her description in the quote. read more

Outside Dreams Landscaping Five stars for Amy and Outside Dreams Landscaping. Last fall, I asked ODL for a quote and proposal to xeriscape our front lawn. My interest was two-fold: to conserve water and I was so tired of trying to keep the lawn looking good. Amy is one of the owners of ODL, and I was pleased with her design. Her quote was the same as that of a second company, and her design offered much more for the money. ODL offers a 5% discount for work undertaken during their slower season; our project was done the week before Christmas. It took a 4-man crew 4 or 5 days to complete, including conversion of the sprinkler system to a drip system. Throughout the process and even after completion, Amy and her office staff were very responsive to my questions. Now that we are well into the growing season, the xeriscape looks terrific, visually interesting and attractive. The blooming plants have been colorful. AND the lawn is gone! ODL cheerfully replaced the two plants that didn't survive the winter (one year warranty). I made Amy aware of some minor damage to the irrigation system that became apparent when it was recharged in the spring. I didn't ask for compensation, although I thought it was caused by her crew. I just wanted her to be aware. She voluntarily reimbursed me the cost of the repair. This is a company that does good work and stands behind it. I could not find my original review from last year. The company asked me to update my review based on the fact that they met their warranty obligations and replanted the flowers that did not survive for a year. The new plants are beautiful and the fact that they followed through made me happy. The fact that we got a copy of the design, including what plants, made it easy to follow what they were doing and to check what came up and what didn't after the one year warranty period. In summary, we love the design of our yard and the choice of plants. What we didn't like was the rigidity of their warranty process. You really need to cross your t's and dot your i's to make sure that they will replace any problem plants. Also, we didn't like their communication system and the fact that they do not do a final walkthrough before asking for their money. We recently moved into a newly built home and needed a company to design and install our entire backyard. We got estimates from 5 companies before choosing Outside Dreams. Their pricing was very competitive, but what ultimately won us over was Amy's thoughtful design plan. Unlike every other company that came out, Outside Dreams does a full design plan before requiring a commitment. When we saw what she had designed, it made the decision easy. We had only a rough idea of what we wanted, and Amy put together a design with a lot of thought behind every detail. She picked plants that would provide vivid color in every season, and suggested moving our intended location for an extended patio to a spot that would protect our foundation and save us money. The crew was polite and professional and worked very quickly. Felix came out and made sure we were happy with the work. They got the job done faster than we anticipated and cleaned up after themselves. The yard looks beautiful. We are very happy with the final product. Everything started out positive in our engagement with Outside Dreams but turned into a nightmare by the end. We were over two months in when Amy (the owner) suddenly backed out of completing our $62K project (we'd already paid 85%). You deserve to work with a landscaper who executes the agreed-upon design, completes the job, and operates with integrity - three things that Outside Dreams ultimately did not do for us. During the upfront design phase, we were drawn to Amy's collaborative and thoughtful approach. When the crew started onsite, we were pleased with how hardworking they were and really liked the project manager, Felix. The communication started out top notch. A few times during the first phase of work, we talked to Felix and Amy when the execution was veering from the agreed-upon design (e.g. the retaining wall was supposed to be 7 ft away from back fence and in many parts was 5-6 ft, the wrong filler rock color/size was installed, etc.). They course corrected where feasible. We were always understanding, flagged as quickly as possible to avoid rework, and often let it go without making them do rework. The first major frustration was two weeks into the installation when Felix mentioned that they wouldn't install the planned stepper path to the backyard since the grade was too steep. We were glad he raised his concern but were surprised since Amy had proposed this path and even warrantied that the steppers wouldn't move when we had brought up this concern ourselves more than once before committing to the project. This had been our #2 priority since the outset and why we chose the overall design. We didn't understand why this wasn't brought up prior let alone why Amy designed it. Amy didn't take accountability or appreciate what a setback that was for us and had an attitude of good thing you know now. As we had done with everything else, we let it go and had Amy return to review all the planting for the last phase of work scheduled for May. When we hadn't heard back from Amy for 2 weeks after our planting walkthrough, we checked in. We got a bizarre email back that said "We have concerns about you being happy with the plantings based on expectations, so we won't be able to help you on this part." This was a complete shock since we had finished the previous phase of work over a month ago, had talked to Amy twice and had her over for a walkthrough since, and no concerns were ever expressed. We asked why we wouldn't be happy if healthy plants were planted per design and asked that they please finish this last phase of contracted work. It was important that one company did the full job (let alone not leave us hanging suddenly 2 months into engagement at 8 months pregnant). We then got an email from Brittany that said, "Felix said he didn't appreciate the way he was spoken to at the end of the project, which is why we aren't able to come back." This further made no sense since we had only ever had nice conversations with Felix and hadn't talked to him in over a month; 3+ days of work and plenty of back and forth had happened with the team since. We were offended at the accusation and couldn't figure out why they were out to antagonize otherwise amicable clients. They then rescinded on that explanation and changed the story again but still refused to finish the work. Apparently expecting them to execute the agreed-upon design is too high of a bar. We would never have worked with Outside Dreams or chosen the design that we did if we knew they were only going to do a part of the work, leaving us down significant time and money and in a situation where we will not have a consistent look and feel with the full project that we set out to do. Amy's true colors showed at the end, and we're still dumbfounded why they unnecessarily escalated the situation out of nowhere rather than simply finishing the job. read more

We just moved into a new house. We looked at 2 landscaping companies to work on our backyard. The 1st company gave us a design based on what we were thinking about. After asking a lot of questions, Outside Dreams gave us a totally different design that surprised and delighted us. We selected them to do our landscaping and we are completely happy with the results! In addition to plantings, they made a raised bed. Because the side of our house slopes downward, they put in a retaining wall and altered the fence gate to work with the wall. The design was affordable and their crew did truly great work. read more

If there were a way to give a company a negative star I would. I spent $11,000 in landscaping last year and have numerous problems with it but every time I speak to Angela, the office person, on the phone she implies that I am lying. Here are some examples: 1. Made agreement with Felix on how the stairs off of side door should be. It was very clear as to what we agreed on but not done that way. Told I was lying about our conversation and his word against mine. 2. Buried downspout not working. They accused me of not cleaning my gutters (I clean them 3X a year). They reluctantly sent someone out to look at it. Turns out they sodded right over the drainage pop up valve last year so water had nowhere else to go. 3. Pop up not working still. Today was told that the crew came back out last week and said gutters still dirty. They are flat out lying about coming out last week. I have a locked gate to backyard so it's impossible for them to get in without me unlocking it. When I told Angela that she proceeded to get bitchy with me telling me she's only relaying what the crew told her and that I was trying to shoot the messenger. We recently completed our 4th landscape project with Outside Dreams. Each of these projects involved a total landscape redesign on a different type of property; a townhome, a rural property, a city home, and a typical Highlands Ranch property. We have used a variety of their services including design, irrigation, sod, plantings, patios, walkways, pergola, fencing, planter boxes, and lighting. Each of these properties was unique and Amy was instrumental in getting us the proper design for each property. Amy was patient with us while we tweaked each design and provided updated plans and estimates to us in a timely fashion. After about a year of trying to get a response from another landscaper (they had already come to my property and promised a quote, then went radio silent), I finally called Outside Dreams. What a great decision! Our yard had a huge slope towards the house and our lawn and irrigation system had seen better days. We wanted: 1) Livable backyard space! 2) Correct drainage to keep moisture and run off from damaging our house 3) The most bang for our buck that we could possibly get, without exceeding the value of the neighborhood Amy, the business owner, returned my call within a day or two and scheduled an appointment to meet at my house. She listened intently to our needs, measured the yard, and promised a quote in two weeks. She came by two weeks later with a packet that explained how Outside Dreams conducts business, their payment structure, recommended plants/trees, and the quote itself. After fine-tuning the quote, her crew showed up as scheduled later that month in well-marked work trucks and a trailer. They worked - weather permitting - through December and finally finished the job a couple weeks ago. We now have a GORGEOUS backyard - our lawn is no longer just a sloped rectangle amidst a giant unwalkable rock bed...now we have two 4-foot retaining walls, built with proper French drainage and interlocking blocks, mulch that protects drip irrigation lines underneath it, a beautiful winding pebble bed woven throughout, and a large flagstone patio that awaits our new firepit once the weather warms up. Don't underestimate the value that proper landscaping can bring to a house (ranks up there with kitchens and baths). I intend to enjoy this yard for probably a full decade before we sell our house....so Amy kept that in mind by using quality materials that could actually last. I now can enjoy my yard, and eventually sell the house for top dollar without having to put much more into it. Guys, Outside Dreams has been one of the best vendors I've worked with. My top 5 takeaways: 1) They returned calls/emails promptly and communicated clearly. 2) They operated like a well-oiled machine and answered all my questions up front, so the process was very smooth thereafter. 3) Their crew worked hard and never flaked. Amy was considerate; we had a set budget and she developed a phase implementation that allowed us to start now and add additional features over the next year. We hired outside dreams a year ago to landscape our backyard and sideyard of a new build. There were many aspects of the company we initially really appreciated: communication, professionalism, loved the design by Amy, the proposal was kept to our budget with optional add-ons, and they were willing to work with us to do some aspects of the project ourselves to keep to our budget (eg we install mulch, we seeded grass vs adding sod), and we didn't feel judged! Our primary frustration, and why we didn't outreach them when we decided to invest 150k in a landscape redo, is that they didn't propose, or at least create, a safe side walkway from front to back. Their proposal was to use stepping stones when there is both a vertical and horizontal grade change up to 20-25%. I didn't appreciate this wouldn't be safe but luckily the stepping stones didn't fit in our budget so we asked them to edge the proposed path which we would temporarily fill with mulch or breeze until we could afford the stepping stones. Not safe! We and others fell numerous times trying to walk down (even when we were being careful bc it was so steep). We asked them to partner with us to correct the feature but the communication was suboptimal and didn't work out. This was our test to see if we would stick with them for the big redo. I'm just thankful we only "wasted" a few hundred dollars in edging on an unsafe design vs 5k on the steps. Minor recommendation - I think it would help if Amy came on-site to assess the job periodically or before it was closed out. I think this would have reduced the number of times they had to come back out to finish the job according to proposal (eg 3-4x). Initially, we were just happy they kept coming back out bc it was after payment and they were still responsive! read more

Our experience working with Outside Dreams was excellent. We appreciated Amy's detailed designs and estimates, and her flexibility to adjust a few things during the design process. The work involved replacing a 40 year old rotting timber retaining wall with concrete block, replacing old pink gravel, and 140 feet of fence. In a former parking area next to the driveway, they removed old gravel and installed a dry streambed, decorative boulders, plantings, and mulch. The crew arrived as expected and worked diligently all day, 6 days per week. Every evening they cleaned up the work area and swept the walks. Several neighbors commented on how well the work was going. We contacted the office to request a couple of changes as work progressed, and were pleased with the quick response and accommodation. We are very pleased with the process, the design, and the finished work. Amy also included a comprehensive "Maintenance Manual" describing how to care for the new landscaping. We highly recommend Outside Dreams for this type of project. read more

Overall, we're happy with the new patio we had done. Amy (an owner of Outside Dreams) was receptive to changes to the design we had wanted to make and everyone was on the same page. The paver patio work came out great, I'd recommend them for that. The step they added looks great, the pavers are laid straight and we're very happy with the pattern. They also replaced a couple of severely chipped pavers upon our request. A couple minor annoyances with the final product, such as staples left in the cedar posts they installed, and on the last day while they were trying to finish it happened to be raining, so a lot of the polymeric sand washed away immediately. This gave the impression to us that they were just rushing to finish with us and move on. We can live with small touch ups we need to do. But there were two big issues we encountered during the process. First, during the initial estimate, my wife and I both heard that for patio work, they dig into the grass about a foot or so past the patio, but they put sod down after the work is complete. That never happened, so now we have a mud moat around our new patio that we need to pay someone else more money to fix. Not to mention the kids tracking mud onto our new patio we're trying to enjoy. The only excuse we were given was on the last day of work, when we asked about it, the answer was that the patio was too low for the grade of the lawn, we should go 6 feet out into the lawn, regrade and sod. I should also mention this was replacing an existing patio that was already at grade, so variation between the new patio elevation and our lawn came as a surprise to us. Part of the job was removing an existing concrete slab and adding a step, and all that came out good, so I'm not saying they're wrong on how high/low the patio is, but a warning or an offer to finish the job properly would have been more professional in my opinion. Second issue. Part of the job was to run a buried pipe under the new patio for a gutter downspout. Their bid including corrugated pipe, which after talking to several people with specific experience in drainage solutions, we asked if they could do PVC instead. Outside Dreams said they don't recommend PVC because there's no air flow and the water could freeze in the winter. I still to this day don't understand that, it hasn't been explained to me. We went with PVC, and since it was a design change, my PE licensed wife asked for a shop drawing reflecting this change. Well, we never received that, and came home one day to find the PVC pipe installed and buried under compacted dirt. We had to call Outside Dreams and had them send out someone, who explained that 'this is what they (the installers) do', and ensured us it wasn't just a closed PVC pipe and it will drain out the bottom. After the first rainstorm, water was left sitting in the pipe. Waited four (4) days, still water. Called Outside Dreams. They said give it a week to drain. Called five (5) days later, so a total of nine (9) days after observing standing water in the pipe. At this point I sent an endoscope down the pipe to check for holes or a way for the water to drain, and sure enough, it's just a closed PVC pipe. My best guess as to the 'we don't use PVC because there's no air flow' is because their normal practice is to put a slit in the corrugated pipe to let water drain out the bottom. This is just a guess. That's not a substitute for a bubbler pot or drywell, which is what we were left to assume was installed since we were denied a shop drawing, because 'this is what they do'. It's been about 3 weeks now since they said they would get back to me with what they could do, and I've yet to hear anything. So, if you're just having paver patio work done, I would say go ahead and use them. But my recommendation is to be cautious if using them for anything outside the scope of laying pavers. read more

We hired Outside Dreams to rip out our back yard deck and install a patio instead. They also did a fire pit, grass, and installed some new plants for us. Everything turned out great and we're very pleased with our experience.   I've worked with other contractors in the past and Outside Dreams is a breath of fresh air. Amy listened to what we had to say and came up with a plan that was exactly what we wanted. The office staff was quick at getting back to me on my questions and they took care of my HOA too, which was a nice plus.   The guys who did the install were respectful and worked very hard. It took a little while to get my project started, but I'd say definitely worth the wait for a quality product and good customer service. We had our entire front and back yard landscaped with them. I was concerned that we were doing the planting in late September and expressed concern that the plants would survive. Two roses did not. I emailed 5/26 to replace per warranty and I was told that we missed the Mother's Day annual replacement and there is no time line on when I can receive new roses. I now have to replace out of my own pocket so I can enjoy what I paid for this season because they do not honor their warranty. I also had a flagstone piece crack in half within a few months and asked for it to be replaced and was told cracking is normal. So essentially recommended a material that has no warranty despite their manual stating flaking is normal. I am completely ok with flaking, destroyed and not usable within a few months when their warranty does not state as much and half my yard is flagstone is unacceptable. Do not use this company. I would have recommended this company a couple of years ago but would absolutely not recommend anymore. I have spent thousands of dollars on projects with them and the latest one was just done crappy. I discovered a leak under a bush that they were originally not willing to fix until I complained more and demonstrated how there was no way this wasn't caused by them. They did fix it that time. Later in the fall I discovered 2 more leaks. Since I was about to turn off the system, I left this until this spring. I decided to just fix them myself since they gave me a hard time the first time. What I discovered was those leaks were being cause by crappy workmanship. One leak was coming from a pipe that was never capped off when they installed the new system. The other one was a T coupler that was put in to connect pipes that should have been a straight coupler so water was just leaking out of the T. Shortly after I discovered a 4th leak. I contacted them at this point and asked them to fix it since I had already wasted my time and a friend who helped me on something we should have never had to repair if it had been done right in the first place. After 2 emails laying out the issue and several weeks I had not heard a word from them. Zero, nada, nothing has come from them. Look somewhere else if you want the job done right and a company that is willing to fix errors and stand behind what they do. read more

Outside Dreams designed our landscaping then removed big roots, put in new trees, put in mulch, installed sprinklers and drip systems, and fixed a broken PVC pipe. They also put together 4 garden boxes and filled them with good soil. It went really well. They were always on time with a good number of workers so they got through the project quickly. They also cleaned up each day. The crews were friendly and hardworking. Amy at Outside Dreams designed our landscaping and I trust her with all of the design, plant choices, placement, etc. She did a great job of balancing the plants and making it look nice. This is a very professional company and their crew was very polite. My wife and I looked for landscaping companies in our general area to help us update our front and back yard. We called many different companies some of which never called us back. Outside Dreaming answering my phone call right when I called and was able to send someone out to talk to us with in that week, they even came up with a really great design that worked well with what we wanted and our budget. They were great to work with during the initial design and bid process. They sent a large crew that worked quickly and efficiently. However, they didn't quite build the walkway to the designs specs. The designer came back out to see the issue and confirmed it needed to be redone. They quickly fixed the issue. There was a separate billing issue pertaining to rocks they charged us for even though they were already there. They did fix this issue as well. I would recommend them and plan to use them for any other projects. They didn't quite get the 5 stars just due to the extra hassles, but the results are great. read more

Terrible. I had the displeasure of communicating with Erin. She would rarely follow-up when she stated she would. The final straw? After a week of back-and-forth emails to receive an estimate, she told me they do not service my area!
