when I came out of Publix near Outspoken, I could hear something scraping on my bike. I walked the bike to Outspoken. They immediately helped me walked the bike into the store ( with my groceries). Then inspected and discovered someone had tried to steal the bike by taking off the front wheel. They immediately fixed what had been loosened. Why 1 star? Not a lot to say beyond they need to train front staff how to treat people walking in the door. Bought a bike here two year's ago for my son. They said I could trade up when it was time. Person in the front basically told me I was out of luck (even though I had an outspoken sticker that I bought the bike from here). Told him I'll be willing to buy a new bike for my son if they could even donate my bike for me. Told me no. Said I'll go buy a bike elsewhere and they weren't interested in selling me anything. Asked to see if the manager was around, said he was in Tampa. Wow. Never seen such bad service in my life when I literally wanted to come in today to buy a new bike. Lost a lifetimes worth of a customer. Horrible experience. read more

I brought in a bike to get a new tire. When I took the bike for a test drive I could tell the tire was not seated to the rim and it felt like the tire had a bump in it making it no fun to ride. When I went back in the store they told me to just ride the bike and it would work itself out. The next day I went back and told them that after about five miles of very uncomfortable riding that it was not working. No problem they said leave it and we will work on it. A week went by and I got a call the bike was ready for pick up. I went back and it was doing the same thing. When I told them there was no change the mechanic said he tried three other tires and when he couldn't get any to work he put the tire I paid $42.00 for back on the bike. What the hec? I tried to get the tire to seat properly and without the correct tool and made a slight tear in the tire. No they said we can't do anything as you damaged the tire. So I paid $42.00 for a tire they couldn't get on the rim correctly! I went over to the Bike Room on Drew and they put a new tire on for $20 and it works perfect. My advice is if you need a new tire go elsewhere! read more

This is a great local bike shop that really cares about its customers. Right before Thanksgiving I wanted to surprise my spouse with fixing his bike so he could enjoy it during Thanksgiving. After going to several bike stores, I drove to Outspokin to see their selection. I understand with COVID-19, it's definitely a "different" experience when trying to purchase a bike. I was met outside by Meghan and told her what I was looking for. She brought out a bike that I absolutely loved. I mean it was a PERFECT FIT. And this was after feeling ONLY satisfactory at the other stores and the bikes they let me try. She told me to drive it around, switch the gears, made sure it was the right fit for my dimensions and needs. The customer service that Meghan provided to me was just off the charts. She wasn't pushy, gave me all of my options, and even gave me another bike to try, just to make sure I loved the one I originally rode. She brought the bike back into the store, gave it to Greg so that he could install ALLLL of the other items I purchased for the bike. He brought it out, went over my bike lock and asked me if I needed him to load it into my SUV. I told him I was good. After a few minutes I realized I would need his help and as I was turning around, he was already there and said he saw me through the window and would put the bike in the back for me. Even though there were many people at the store, waiting to be helped, Meghan and Greg never made me feel rushed when they were helping me; something I truly appreciate. Awesome staff. I planned on spending $50 and spent $650. Lol. Well worth it. I bought a cheaper bike online, tried putting it together, and needed help with the brake cables. It turns out the bike was not the right size for me. I saw one in their store that looked nice, and they said they had one my size in a box they could put together for me to try. They called me when it was done, I fell in love! Perfect size, all the features I was looking for. They told me I had a lifetime warranty on the frame, a free tune-up within a year, and after riding about 10 hours to bring it back in for any adjustments. All included. I was sold! Even though I prefer to work on my bikes myself, it was nice to know I had back-up, lol. Greg in the service department was very helpful. A gentleman I thought named Gabriel offered to build the bike. Trixie took me for a test ride and explained the warranty. Even saved me a big empty bike box to return my online purchase in! Walked in the store during business hours in the middle of the afternoon, a few days after restrictions were removed for the covid 19 stay at home. Staff was helping other customers out front and nobody said anything about the inside being closed. Once in the store Some jerk walked out from the back treating me like a child for walking in their unlocked door.I was simply looking to buy mtb tires and missed their tiny sign on the door that they were open, but bringing items to customers outside. He was such an asshole I left. Went to the car and spent a few hundred dollars online. This was my first time in the store and I'll never go back. The front sales people are very good, but the service department drops them to only 2 stars. Rode my bike there earlier this week in order to make an appointment for a brake pad replacement at a time when they could do the work in an hour while I waited. Was given a work order for today. I called to confirm and was told to come right in. When I arrived at 10:30am I was told 3 to 4 hour wait. The service guy didn't care that I had wasted my time making the appointment. Didn't care that I wasted my time bringing the bike in after calling earlier. I asked to reschedule, and was told that there was no day that the service guy could accommodate my business without leaving the bike for a day. They let a $100 service order walk out the door along with all my future business. Don't waste you time with this shop for repairs. I Googled the repair and discovered that it is simple enough for me to do myself. read more

I traveled down to Outspokin after a friend recommended them after she bought her bike from there and wanted to test a bunch before making a decision. It was definitely a "hands on" experience as soon as I approached the store even amidst all the changes in place of COVID19. I was fortunate to be met by Val, the owner, and she worked with me to understand what I was looking for, the type of bike I wanted and made sure that the ones she brought for me to try were the right "fit". Once I had tried a few bikes and decided on one, Val let me know that the bike needed to be ordered and it would be about 7-10 days before it came into the store. She let me know that someone would call and let me know when it was ready to be picked up. I was super excited and couldn't wait for the bike to actually come into the store. Fast forward a week after my purchase - -I got a call from Meghan who said my bike had come in and was put together, ready to be picked up. I made my way to the store and was greeted by Delfino who brought my bike out, made sure the bike was adjusted to my height and then proceeded to add the other items I bought for the bike. He was patient, gave me options and helped me get the bike into my car. Start to finish the service and folks at Outspokin are fantastic. These guys were awesome! My brother-in-law's wheelchair got a flat, and I was able to bring the wheel in and get a new innertube installed immediately as they knew it was critical for him. I spent nearly $600 at this store, needless to say I left excited about my new bike but really disappointed in the customer service. The guy that "helped" me was just ok. I basically had to get my friend on the phone to guide me in choosing which bike was right for me. After I chose a bike and purchased it, the clerk then went to install the bell and kickstand and water bottle holder. when it was finished a different person came out and placed my bike in front of me and walked away. Did not say thank you, did not ask to help me get it in my car, nothing. I looked around and no one else was around. After spending that kind of money I would have thought the guy who was helping me would at least say goodbye and thank me for my business. I won't be back and I would not recommend this place at all. I went in to get a rear tire flat fix on my 20 inch foldable electric bike with a center drive motor and they told me it would be $50. I was shocked and walked out. I, next went to hands on bicycle 1453 Gulf to Bay Blvd., Clearwater, FL and the repair man fixed me up with a new tube and charged me $14.00 total! I hope to save somebody else from being ripped off by Outspoken bicycles. read more

He was helping several customers at the same time but giving each his full attention. He took out 3 different bikes to try for a test ride. I have about a 15 year old Specialized that was in DESPERATE need of some TLC. After reading some great reviews I brought it here. I will never take my bike, or any bike anywhere else! Not only did they bring my bicycle back to "like new" conditions, I actually think it shifts BETTER than new now! I swear they replaced all of the shifting components by the way they operate AND look, but they swear they just took everything apart, did a thorough cleaning, and put it back together. This is my local bike shop and I am glad to have it. Between Val, Leo and John, I have had a great transition to riding road bikes thanks to their experience, advice, professionalism, and exceptional service. I am hooked. My first experience with this shop was when I couldn't get a bolt loose on my pedal cleats and needed to make the change to take my first ride with my father who has been riding road bikes for 10 years. We finally gave up and called Outspokin 10 minutes before closing time to see if they could help us. They stayed open just for us and didn't charge us a penny for the help. They later rebuilt a 2002 Specialized Elite that was really far gone and for a fraction of the cost I was expecting they got this thing flying down the road. And then there is the store itself. They have a very inviting and very well stocked store with prices right on par with what you will see on the net for the most part. If you want it, they probably have it. But let's face it, you can buy parts on the net or in a hundred local stores so it is the people that really make a store. I needed to get some rehab work done on my bike and I'm not familiar with the area. Their nice unobtrusive signage got my attention as I was driving by and I noted the location. I returned later with my bike and was helped by Doug. My bike needed some adjustments, some new parts and had some rust issues. Doug took a look and gave me an estimate and I left the bike with him. Surprisingly, he called me later the same day saying it was ready. It was like brand new. Everything we discussed was done and at a very reasonable price. I took it out for a ride and it just purred right along. The entire staff was pleasant and helpful and they answered all of my questions. I have no complaints at all. I don't leave reviews often. Only when I receive unusually good or bad service. So, I had a successful and pleasant experience at Outspoken Bicycles and they've earned my referrals; and while I'm in the area, my repeat business. Sometimes I feel like I have "inexperienced buyer--oversell me!" on my forehead. With my knowledgeable bike friend at my side we entered Outspokin' and were happy to see they didn't take advantage of my bicycle innocence. SERVICE They were good at explaining my bike repairs in relatable moron language (knowledgeable bike friend silently stood by assessing the employee's knowledge). I was able to wander the store several times before they finished fixing my flat and installing new tires. PRICES Each fix carried a $10 service charge in addition to the part needed. Kinda pricey in its entirety especially since I know my own pure laziness could've fixed the damages myself. The parts themselves were reasonably priced and only slightly higher than if you tried buying online. read more

We were pleased to discover a Specialized dealer in Clearwater where we could have our new Specialized bikes serviced when needed. We went in the next day and purchased a set of fenders for my husband's Como. He payed $25 to have an "expert " install them. Three days later on his way to his workout, the back fender was rubbing and the front fender came lose and then fell off. Very big inconvenience--he missed his workout class. He took the bike and fenders back to the shop where they discovered that the set screws were NEVER installed. I have to wonder how I will be able to trust them to do a tune up or other necessary service. They are indeed very friendly but when it comes to bike repairs and servicing bikes I'm not sure I'll take my bike to Outspokin. Very disappointed. read more

Nice bikes! Not so nice employees. They were overly happy to sell my wife an expensive bike then asked her to call during the week to pick up the extras. Racks, lights etc. now that they have her money they are too busy to check the order or confirm when the parts will be in. It's now a bother to them to the extent of being rude. Not getting another dime from us. We will be switching to Trek. Lesson: Get all of it the first time once they have the money for the big items you are no longer a use to them.
