We dined here on a Saturday night and arrived to find the restaurant empty at 6:50pm. No need to use the new Google reservation system! There were 2 waitstaff present and they delivered our menus and water quickly. The menus were sticky and could do with a cleaning or replacement. Our entrees arrived in a short amount of time after we ordered and looked great. The beef stew (special) was aromatic and flavorful. The clay pot rice was less so. The vegetables and chicken were pretty bland but the rice at the bottom of the dish was delicious. I dipped the veg and chicken into the sauce that accompanied the beef stew to add flavor. read more

I'm originally from SJ, so viet food is hard to come by in Livermore. This place is legit. Closest thing you'll get and is very authentic. I've eaten almost the entire menu and they are consistent, affordable, good service. My favorites are their garlic rice, garlic noodles (reminds me of claw shack in SJ), pho, banh mi, viet coffee and seafood noodle soup. Hard to find a place that does these all good!!! Previously, I had the beef pho, shaken beef, and this time, their special bun bo hue, which was flavorful without having to add in any extra sauce, which is always a good thing. I came in one hour before closing with my brother. I am from the Bay Area and we were making our way to the Central Valley and stopped here. When entering, I was welcomed and was able to choose any seat of my likings. It was quiet and there were about 5 customers in the restaurant. The place was clean, and servers were nice. The menus were paper and you could visually tell that it has been reused a number of times. They could've put out new menus in better condition. We both got #20, the Bun Bo Hue. There were 3 spice levels to the dish (mild, medium, spicy) and I got spicy. It definitely broke a sweat but it was a good spice for me. I'd recommend Medium for a safe choice and you could add chili oil if you would like more spice. The server mentioned they could give me more broth if my dish was too spicy, but it was perfect for me. #20 came with 1 meatball (cut in half), 4 pork slices, and like 2-3 pieces of beef brisket. This restaurant's main customer demographics is not as particular and interested in the traditional pork blood, so it was removed, which is understanding. Either way, I was not disappointed! The broth was great and hot, however the noodles were VERY hot and all broken (but this may be because it was at the end of the day?). Since the noodles were not fresh, I could not eat much noodles as a majority of the noodles were all broken. I believe the noodles were boiled with the broth so that was the reason for the hot and broken noodles. There's no way I could've eaten this dish with chopsticks as I was barely able to grab noodles with my fork. I would've given 5 stars had I been served with full fresh/good noodles. It would've been an enjoyable experience. Despite the noodle incident, overall this place was great. I would recommend for anyone to try #20, but maybe earlier in the day. Always in search of a good Bun Bo hue. This was available off menu. It was tasty- definitely can taste and smell the shrimp paste. The meats in it were not that impressive- big chunks of meatballs and other processed meats. There were 2 little spareribs that needed to be cooked longer. This review is based on take out. Driving through the area, we needed to pick up some dinner. OvAsians had garlic noodles and lemongrass tofu that we wanted to try. Ordering online through grub hub was easy so that we could time it right in pick up from driving through Livermore. Making selections and choice of protein for the entree was easy. There is plenty of parking in the shopping area. Our order was ready for pick up on our arrival. Service was friendly. They have indoor seating if preferring to dine in. The garlic noodles was as expected with garlic flavor. The lemon grass tofu had an also a kick of spice with the lemon grass flavors. The rice helped tame down the spice. Since moving to the area, OvAsians has been my Dad's go-to for Vietnamese food. He always raves about their banh mi, noodle dishes, and vermicelli bowls. Now that I'm home for the summer and staying with him I finally had the chance to try one of his favorite places! With the hot summer day, I was in the mood for something on the more light and refreshing side. Normally I get summer rolls but I wanted to try something new. The Papaya Shrimp Salad caught my eye as I love papaya but have never tried it in this form. The salad was deliciously crunchy with a hint of sweetness and tang! It came with shredded green papaya, several pieces of shrimp, and plenty of fresh garnishes and toppings. The dressing was good but the bottom of the bowl was swimming in it--I'd opt for it on the side next time. The portion was generous and I was only able to eat half of it and had to take the rest home. Located in Vasco Plaza, OvAsians is next to Starbucks and has a huge parking lot out front. The inside of the restaurant is clean, quiet, and casual, with ample tables and a bathroom. Service was fast and prompt. For some reason I'm heavily addicted to the pho here. This is the one place I can go to have pho back to back. It's always clean inside the establishment and the servers are always friendly. **Updated review 7/12** Under new management and reopened as of 7/9 so they are still ironing out some kinks of new ownership. Their phone number didn't work initially but now looks like it does. They have 20% off for opening week. Really enjoyed their chicken banh mi ("sandwiches" under the appetiser section), and their chicken vermicelli combo with egg roll and shrimp skewer. Perfect and refreshing for such hot days. The egg rolls are delicious and food was flavourful and fresh. The owner's wife was lovely and we wish them all success. However we were charged $6.50 for our Thai iced tea. The menu stated $5. We brought this up with the owner's wife (who gave us the check) and she advised that our server should have told us the regular size was unavailable, and that the large one is $6,50. We did not order a large one, it doesn't say there's a large option for a Thai iced tea anywhere on the menu either. So the lack of disclosure upfront and surprise up charge was unwelcome. We didn't bother to fight this given the 20% off anyway, but we did let her know that they need to update their menu to reflect if they have a large size. Overall we enjoyed our meal. Many of their menu items are actually cheaper than the Yelp menu photos. They have areas to improve as expected of a new business, but we wish them success and plan to return! read more

Today I went here for lunch, since it was pretty close to a place I went to get some gas. The food was tasty and flavorful and the drink was great too, sweet but not too sweet! I got SD1. Roasted Oolong Tea with Salted Cheese Foam and 39. Basil Leaf with Chicken. It had a chili next to the #39 I got but it didn't really seem spicy but rather it was flavorful and tasty! Super nice guy and nice family all working. Ordered some seafood pho which was a good portion. Halfway through my meal the power went out in the whole plaza! This review is for the food, and now my overall experience. I have been here a few times now and I feel like this place is a bit underappreciated. It is easy walking distance for me to order my food online and walk over to pick up my food promptly. In this review, I will go over 2 dishes I ordered, as well as another drink. Grilled Slice Pork (Com Thit Nuong): My absolute favorite Vietnamese dish. Being Vietnamese myself, I am highly critical of where I go to eat this. However, both the to-go presentation and the flavor was perfect for me. There was ample amount of grilled pork to accompany this fish. The rice was cooked dry for me, which I love to eat with this sort of dish. The only thing I wish I could add to this dish specifically, is the shredded pork skin (which I know comes with the "dac biet" version of this dish, but I do not like seafood). 5/5 would recommend Pad Thai: Typical pad thai noodles. It was really good and saucy, although a bit too much saucy for me. It was very lenient towards the sweet side, so that did overpower the dish a bit for me. However, I still enjoyed the dish overall. 4/5 Thai Ice Tea: Can never go wrong with this drink. I got this with coffee jelly (not my favorite, but they ran out of pearls). 4/5 Overall, I see myself coming back here very often to fulfill my Vietnamese craving. I think my favorite pairings will be Com Thit Nuong with their Salted Cheese Earl Grey Milk Tea. read more

This time I picked up some pho and a pork belly bahn mi. The pho was good and the sandwich was just ok. My husband said the bread was kind of on the hard side but the meat filling was flavorful.
