Stopped after a long shift from work and wanted to grab some grub before I go into vasco traffic northbound. Owner greeted me right away and sparked up some convo. Super nice guy and nice family all working. Ordered some seafood pho which was a good portion. Halfway through my meal the power went out in the whole plaza! I absolutely love this restaurant. It is my go to for lunch in the Vasco rd area. Currently the main thing I recommend is the #34 chicken combo plate. So many different flavors and a pretty large portion size. Also a big fan of the chicken or pork Banh mi sandwiches. Last but not least is the SD4 green tea latte (mango) with boba. This is hands down the best milk tea/boba drink I've ever had. It's super sweet with the mango flavor so be aware of that but it's delicious if you like sweet. My son loves their kids's Chicken Pho...says it's his favorite! The staff is super friendly and always provide great service as this is a family run business. They even remember my order! I was enjoying my pho when I heard what sounded like someone clipping their nails very close by. I decided to get up and take a look and found the worker, crouching down behind the door to the kitchen, clipping his fingernails. I'm sorry I went into this place. They have the menu posted on the front window. It looked good. (See the photos.) I wanted the Mashed Avocado, #SD10. It looks good on the menu. It looks good in the other Yelp photos. I went in and I asked the guy at the counter if it is made with real avocados, because other bubble tea places use powdered avocado (which is disgusting). He assured me that they use fresh avocados. When I ordered, the guy cringed and said he didn't know how to make it and he had to call somebody. He asked if I had time to wait. I said, "Sure." I figured he was calling someone from the kitchen to come out and make it for him. No. He called his wife and asked how to make it. It was horrible! He pulls this skinny little avocado out of the fridge and proudly shows it to me and says, "Fresh avocado." It's bad enough that the poor thing is so small, but then he only uses about a third of it in the drink. I bought bigger avocados from Sprouts last week for only 50¢, so I know he wasn't trying to save a lot of money on the avocado expense. He added milk and some shaved ice and stirred it. The cup was only a quarter full. So he topped it off with a couple handfuls of shaved ice and brought it to the counter. I looked at it and pointed to the low level of the drink and asked, "Shouldn't there be more in there?" He said, "No, that's it. I already put 1 1/2 in there." One and a half of what, I don't know. I almost refused to accept it. Now I wish I had. After seeing the picture on the menu and the photos from the other Yelp reviewers, I feel like I was terribly ripped off. Did he honestly think that selling ¼ cup of drink and a bunch of shaved ice was fair for $6? He's either very dishonest or he really doesn't know what he's doing. I think he honestly doesn't know what he's doing. I took the drink to the car and snapped a picture. You guys have to see this. When I got home, the snow cap had melted down into the drink. I had not yet tasted a drop and the cup was only half full (See photo) and you hardly see any avocado in there. Look at the photo evidence! Compare that to the picture on the menu. So how did it taste? With very little avocado and a lot of melted ice, it was watery, sweet, and lacked flavor. I tried stirring the drink to see if that would help. That's when I saw that the avocado wasn't mashed, but cut into slices and chunks. One chunk had a big piece of skin on it. Big, as in the length of a tablespoon bowl. Again, I had to take a photo. When his wife reads this, she will know that he didn't follow her recipe. And if the guy doesn't care enough about food to clean it properly, he shouldn't be in the food service business. He can't keep covering up his ineptitude with ridiculous words like, "I already put 1 1/2 in there." It seems like the good reviews for this place are for the Vietnamese restaurant side of the business. There must be someone competent in the kitchen. As a bubble tea place--thumbs down! read more

Lots of flavor in the broth. $13.00 is on the high side for soup but this is a nicer place than most. Service is fast and friendly. Not for the better, their Pho is over flavored with star anise, even after giving them feedback, it was still overpowering the rest of the flavors they might have been going for. It's hard to find any great Vietnamese places outside of San Jose where the best conglomerate. This location does manage to stand out on its own from many others in the area though. The decor is unassuming, and it doesn't get really busy ( unless it becomes super popular) , so it's nice to get a nice and quiet place to get a good hot ( or cold ) meal. The service is attentive and friendly, they have this working for them for being what I presume to be a family run restaurant with a customer level they can easily manage. They offered special considerations for my kids without us asking ( cups with lids for water, quick refills, extra plates , etc.) The food is mostly good. Some items are just missing a little bit of tweaking to be excellent. For example the Popcorn chicken was just a little dry (over cooked?), but the flavor was great. The Banh Mi proportions were just a bit off, but the flavor was great. You'll see for yourself with a variety of meals, but you can taste quality in the ingredients. They're just short of being amazing in most aspects regarding food, I hope they continue to improve. I'd like to check them out again in the future with high hopes. I'm still waiting for that flagship Vietnamese place to appear in the area. read more

Food - 4.5 Staff - 4.7 Ambiance - 4.0 I got the Garlic Noodles with Shrimp and the taste was FANTASTIC! The shrimp was the best-tasting shrimp I've had ever (although I don't eat a lot of seafood in general) and the noodle flavor was excellent too. The vegetables were cut a little large for my liking, yet I suppose that's preference. The only caveat was the noodles themselves looked rather artificial when compared to noodles from other restaurants, so I was a bit bummed, but like I said earlier tasted amazing. The staff were very friendly, sincere, and polite. The food was delivered in a timely manner and at an appropriate temperature. Portion sizing was generous (come hungry!) and the drinks were chilled but not too icy. Every item was appropriately priced. The establishment itself could use some well-deserved upgrades. The tables were a bit sticky, though that might've been due to the wood lacquer or coating, but could still use an improvement. The menu could use a new edition, as some spots were marked out in sharpie and the pricing had stickers on them with updated prices. Overall, I would give it a solid 4.5. Quick take: quick, fresh, and friendly. Tried this place with my work crew. I wanted to try the garlic noodles, tofu, and spring rolls. My meal: -1 star Fresh spring rolls with no pork - They were good, and fresh! The wrap was a bit dry and leathery though; I could barely bite through it. That may have been because we got them to go and I didn't eat them for an hour or so. Garlic noodles with shrimp - I wanted to sub the shrimp for tofu but they couldn't do it (via phone order my coworker placed). That was a huge bummer as I'm not a shrimp fan - and all I wanted was to swap the shrimp with tofu. The onions were raw and I had to take most of them out. BUT even though I am not much a shrimp fan, they were good and the garlic noodles were yummy! The customer service was great and my team loved their meals.
