Although we were seated right away on a Friday around 6pm. The waitress didn't greet us for about 10 minutes. Going to the bathroom the floors felt slippery-oily like. The bar ran out of captain morgan and couldn't make drink from their menu. They also ran out of prime rib yesterday. I ordered 1/2 ribs and fries. The ribs were a bit salty for me and not juicy enough. The fries were crispy and salty. This being my first time here I wasn't impress. I would return to try maybe one of their sandwich or burger, or maybe a fish selection.

The food was outstanding, the place was busy and there seemed to be just one to two people working the entire place so they were short staff. Our server was great and friendly but he could have used a hand working the other tables. Looked like he ran the entire restaurant? The restaurant was clean and that's important. The restrooms smelled fresh and were clean and I am a stickler for clean restrooms so they hit the mark there. I hope they have more staff next time we return . Overall we enjoyed our meal .

A Standing Ovation... for the Worst Meal Ever) If Ovation Bistro & Bar was aiming for a performance, they certainly delivered--a comedy of errors from start to finish. My family and I decided to give this place a try, and let's just say, we regret that decision. We started with the crab cakes, which tasted like they'd been defrosted in a microwave and left to marinate in disappointment. They had a sour aftertaste, as if they'd spent more time sitting out than actually being cooked. We sent them back, which honestly felt like an act of mercy. For the main course, the pork shank arrived drowning in a sad, unseasoned pool of what I assume was meant to be gravy. The mashed potatoes were colder than my enthusiasm for this meal. Meanwhile, the wedge salad with steak featured meat so bland, I had to double-check that I hadn't accidentally ordered a plate of seasoned cardboard. Service? Let's just say they were present. And ambiance? It would've taken a lot more than dim lighting to make this meal enjoyable. If you're looking for a dining experience that makes you question your life choices, Ovation Bistro & Bar is the place for you. Otherwise, do yourself a favor and take your appetite elsewhere.

This was our first visit tonight and OMG it was delicious! I ordered the 12oz sirloin, baked potato and baked beans. I'd venture to say this may have e been the best seasoned and cooked steak I've had in my two years of being in Lakeland. When the food was brought to the table, I ask for A1 and never had to use it. The steak was FULL of flavor! The beans were awesome. My only complaint was I only got to eat about 1/2 of them because my wife wouldn't leave them alone. She got the tilapia which was good. She really enjoyed it. She also really liked the slaw. We decided to top dinner off with the pineapple upside cake and it was a great decision. Our server Kelly was was very attentive. We'll definitely be back soon!

HEALTH WARNING: Read before you visit…read more We stopped in for breakfast, drawn in by what the reviews describe as a "quaint Japanese-style eatery." What we found was something else entirely. FOOD & VALUE We had two glasses of tap water (which tasted sour), a sandwich with fries, and an American breakfast. The sandwich was just okay. The fries were actually good. Everything else failed: the scrambled eggs were flavorless and visibly undercooked, the bacon came as two thin, unevenly cooked strips, and the toast was served without butter. When we asked, the cook had to search for some -- only to return with butter that was frozen solid and jelly so dried out it resembled fruit leather. They were also out of hash browns, which seems remarkable given how few customers were there at the time. SERVICE When the bell rang signaling our food was ready, the bartender was on his phone and didn't move. I walked up to collect it myself (signs do say "Pick up here"), only to find half our order wasn't ready. The bartender then told the cook he couldn't help look for butter because he had to "go put down the steaks" -- at 10:30 in the morning. The cook himself was pleasant and genuinely tried to help. The front-of-house staff, not so much. SANITATION A live cockroach was on the floor next to our table when we sat down. We're from Florida, so a stray bug doesn't automatically send us out the door -- but in hindsight, it should have. More alarming: the return tray held plates of pot stickers that had clearly been sitting there overnight, since the restaurant only serves a breakfast menu in the morning. That is a food safety issue, not a quirk. HEALTH INSPECTION RECORD After leaving, we looked up the inspection history. A report from May 2026 -- just three weeks ago -- documented four violations at this location, three of which were classified as High Priority. You can verify this yourself at floridafoodsafety.org. THE REVIEWS The overwhelming majority of reviews rate this place 4.7-5 stars. Based on what we experienced firsthand -- and what the health inspection record confirms -- we do not understand how that is possible. Draw your own conclusions. We left after a few bites. Save your money and your stomach.

The airport itself is small so we knew it wouldn't be too chaotic. From the moment we walked in to leaving the restaurant, it was pleasant, quick, and the food was delicious. There is a kiosk where you order, you're given a number, and then you pick up your food when they call out your number. It's a great seamless operation! The people are also wonderful and kind!!! I will definitely come back. So for those of you looking for something new to try, head to SORA!

Unfortunately, what should have been a nice dining experience turned into one I will never forget. The food was actually good, but unfortunately, my alcoholic beverage was brought to my table with a fly in it. I had already taken several sips before noticing a black speck in my drink. After looking closer, I realized it was a fly floating in the beverage. I immediately informed the supervisor, who apologized and offered me a complimentary drink and dessert. While I appreciate the apology, I was disappointed that I was still expected to pay for my meal after an experience like this. Finding a fly in a drink that I had already consumed completely ruined my experience. This is not something I can simply overlook, and unfortunately, I don't feel comfortable ever dining at this restaurant again. I truly wish my first experience had been different, because the food itself was good. But customer service and food safety matter just as much as the food, and this experience left a lasting impression unfortunately, not a good one.

Not that bagel-and-cereal situation we usually get over at the in-laws' den. Pulled this place up on my Yelp app and it just kind of called to me... something about The Egg Station and the railroader in me gave me a good feeling. Like it was sending a signal to a wandering cryptid in need of coffee and meat. It's a cozy little spot... reminded me of those roadside diners I used to hide out in back in the day. It was close to noon, but luckily they do breakfast all day... which speaks to my kind of schedule. There's a small parking area right out front and a grassy patch across the way that's perfect for oversized vehicles or an inconspicuous forest-dwelling footprint. We were greeted right away and told to sit wherever. I scanned the whiteboard with the specials at the entrance like I was decoding ancient cave glyphs. There were knick-knacks scattered all over... a real treasure trove of decor. We picked a spot by the seasonal holiday tree... festive without being over-the-top. Our waitress had a shirt that read something about "Throat Punch Saturday"... made us laugh and instantly set the mood. No fancy brunch tension here... just folks who know how to serve a proper plate of food without fuss. I ordered the Corned Beef Hash Blitz Skillet. Two eggs... corned beef hash... peppers... onions... tomatoes... all piled high on home fries and buried under sausage gravy and cheese. It came out sizzling like it just came off a logging camp fire. It was a true breakfast mountain, the kind you climb slowly, fork by fork. The corned beef hash was tasty... though I would've liked it crispier in places. The sausage gravy was surprisingly good... not that canned paste stuff. This was the real deal. Mrs. Foot got the Meat Lovers Omelet with hashbrowns and wheat toast. That omelet looked like it could feed a small search party. She's not big on potatoes usually, but she really liked these hashbrowns. They had that all-over crunch, not just the top and bottom. No mushy middle. We both nodded in appreciation... silently acknowledging a well executed spud. Only thing that caught us off guard was the payment. We assumed you paid up front, but turns out your waitress handles everything at your table and carries it over to the counter. Not a problem, just a twist in the trail we weren't expecting. We walked out full and satisfied... no need to forage again until late evening. Definitely planning to come back and try their lunch menu next time... but for now, we know where to find a solid breakfast spot when we visit the family in Lakeland.
