Earlier today the barista was extremely rude to us about my 80 yr old auntie who struggled wearing her shoes after getting her nails done. She was chastised like a child publicly after being told to put her shoes on. When my auntie tried to explain the barista told her "I've told you before!" Many frequent customers in the Mary's Woods community have life altering conditions and they deserve respect like any other customer. It was shameful. We opted to not order based on how she was treated. So whoever you are with the fake eye-lashes, hair band and the bad attitude, know that you did a horrible job of communicating. Instead of being warm and friendly you cost the cafe business and hurt a frequent customer's feelings. read more

First off, no baked goods from the menu until 8am, and we rolled in at 7:05 am the other day to a dark and empty coffee shop that was closed? Some people come in for food and coffee. I happen to be one of those people. I went in November at about 730 and was told breakfast items were not ready, I was pretty surprised as this is only the second time in 40 some years that I experienced the food not being available when a business was open. I had not gone back since (because I need food to go with my coffee) and thought maybe the owner would have had the issue resolved by now.. I was there today 745, no food. Why don't you just open at 9 AM? and have your food ready to go when you open like a real business would? Ordered the pistachio latte a few days ago and caught a glimpse of the barista making my drink...she used a shot of a pre-made coffee. I don't know if it was iced coffee, cold brew or iced espresso but none of those are even remotely acceptable for a latte. I don't know how you have a cafe and don't even pull fresh shots for your lattes. It tasted like milk, as expected. I've given this place a few chances already and this was the last. This location stays pretty busy because it is located in a retirement community. Lots of parking too. They have the best scones made daily. I just tried this Ovation location at Marylhurst after a long hiatus due to unfriendly counter people who seemed to not want to be there. There was a new staff that I didn't recognize and I was surprised to get a big smile from the person behind the counter as well as the barista. I was so impressed that i complimented them both. As I was leaving I asked the person behind the counter near the barista where I could leave our plates and cups. She looked at me with a snarl and silently pointed to the counter in front of her. My mom is good at a few things: growing houseplants the size of an outdoor shrubbery (seriously, what does she feed them?), building an impressive miniature snow village come winter (it's a metropolis at this point), and finally - always finding the best coffee spots. Ovation is one of these coffee spots. We've always gone in the afternoon so I haven't gotten coffee, but their Moroccan mint tea is simply amazing and contains a bushel of mint leaves. Mama K lives life dangerously and goes for that 4pm latte (extra foamy) and loves the Moroccan spices that they include. She gives it the highest remarks, and the lady knows her stuff. This location has a huge indoor seating area, but with covid the configuration is always changing. Maybe someday we will get back to hanging out at coffee shops. Until then, a nice walk with my mom and a mint tea in hand is bliss. read more

There's lots of good coffee all over but at Ovation they have good coffee with a twist - my favorite is the Moroccan latte, my husband's is the mint iced tea. The also have very tasty little breakfast sandwiches, and I love their egg salad sandwich. There are even fresh baked scones several times a day! We used to make a special trip to the Ovation in Portland so we are THRILLED that they've also opened this Lake Oswego storefront as well...we use it as an excuse to get up early for a jog so we can stop in and treat ourselves after. I should also add that the staff is always friendly and accommodating...they definitely create the overall good feeling I have walking in...especially important during this time. read more

The staff is great and it's got a cool vibe there. They are known for their pistachio latte with Moroccan spices which is very good, my wife loves it. I love chai and for whatever reason, theirs taste like matcha. I've actually tried it twice and told them so they were nice enough to remake it the second time. I'm not sure what makes it taste that way but it was a bit disappointing since it's such a great spot and chai is a fav. But a great place for sure! read more

Thank goodness we got an ovation closer to this side of town. Their drinks are so freakin good and the staff is so great. The iced pistachio latte with oat milk and Moroccan spices is so dang amazing. I love that they have flavored whipped cream toppings - the marshmallow is my favorite - and the baked goods are simply to die for. I checked out their new downtown waterfront location also, and it's just as excellent. Always consistent and arguably the best coffee in town. It really tastes so much different than Starbux and Dutch Bros. Heard they're opening one up in the heart of Lake Oswego. Can't wait! read more
