I was super excited to see a Caribbean place when we were in the plaza it's located in so we stopped to grab a platter. We ordered the curry chicken, rice and peas with plantains which was delicious. They also had quite a bit of options which was great and since everything is cooked but on warmers not only can you see what is available but it's also a quick grab and go food option. However, we also ordered two jerk chicken patties which were extremely uncooked and chewy.. so this threw us off completely and their coco bread wasn't great either so that was disappointing. The service was meh... nothing special to note. The lady helping us wasn't up for questions so we opted for what we know instead of further annoying her. They have a few seats and table so you could eat there but it appears most people grab and go.

Ordered jerk chicken (4.5/5) and brown stew chicken (3.5/5). Both were huge portions, seemed cooked fresh, flavor and the chicken was so tender! The jerk came with a sauce that would have spiced up the brown stew too which was a bit bland and lacking in caramelization in my opinion. It took 40 minutes from ordering to receive my food (and 20 min after the estimated time online) but the service other wise was pleasant- not overly friendly like a southern restaurant but right on par for a busy Caribbean place. There is plenty of parking but doesn't seem like a place you'd sit down and eat- most cars were just coming in and out to pick up their food.

    Oxtail, rice and peas plate

Presentation was a 10/10, but other than that the food was mid at best. We got the oxtail with rice, peas, cabbage, and plantain. We also got the Mango lemonade which was the best out of everything we got. This was our first time having Caribbean food and we where extremely disappointed. Would not recommend getting the oxtail due to the price to quality ratio. Everything was severely under seasoned.

I stayed at the Holiday Inn and had my husband order Jamaican food. This was PHENOMENAL! Probably some of the best we've had around the area. The Jerk was spicy, how it should be, but not too hot that you can't eat it. And was so tender! Rice was tender and cooked perfectly with amazing flavor. Plantains also perfect! I was a happy camper. My husband said that they were super nice in the restaurant. This will probably be our go to for Jamaican food! Top notch!

Yummmyyyy! This Caribbean restaurant is probably going to be go-to spot in Gwinnett county. The staff are friendly...especially the flirty chef, Kevin. The inside of the restaurant is super clean so it's Great for dining-in or take out. There's a plethora of food options here, I chose the veggie plate with curry and it was very flavorful! I'll be back very soon to try more options.

Had a great plate of Jerk Chicken at a very reasonable price. The lunch special was just over 8 bucks and I got plenty of food. 3 hunking pieces of chicken that easily served me 2 meals. I like my Jerk chicken a bit spicier, but the flavors were all there and the cabbage was a delicious side to go with the chicken. Would definitely come back!

The food is always good here. Fast and friendly service. They have a nice, clean lobby and restroom. The good vibe music makes you feel like you are in Jamaica.

I've decided to change my diet for the last 4 months of 2026. Curious to see if fasting meats (not…read moreincluding fish), sugar and overly-processed foods for the remainder of the year will improve how I feel overall and get my energy back up. So I tried to get all my meat cravings satisfied before September began, and my craving for oxtails has been off the charts lately. I've eaten oxtails at about 8 different restaurants in the last few months and I can honestly say returning to Jay's is kinda like moving away only to realize you already had what you need at home! The OXTAILS here are not only a solid choice in flavor, they also give a hearty portion for the money. There are truly some amazing oxtail chefs around Metro Atlanta, but Jay's holds their own in value. So if you're looking for oxtails, you won't be disappointed with flavor, quantity, quality or price! Not to mention Jackie is one of the sweetest, kindest and most humble business owner you are ever likely to meet! Enjoy

The jerk chicken was packed with flavor and cooked perfectly, and the oxtail gravy took the rice and peas to another level; rich, savory, and comforting. The service is always great. The ladies behind the counter genuinely make me feel like I'm getting food from my aunties (maybe because I've become a regular ). That kind of warmth and consistency really makes a difference. The ambiance is chill, with tables available if you want to dine in. There's an open parking lot, though the plaza can get pretty busy, so parking can sometimes be a little tight. Still totally worth it. For $8.99, the portions, flavor, and overall experience can't be beat. Highly recommend if you're looking for a solid Caribbean lunch spot you can count on.

My meal totaled about $25 which I thought was fair for a large dinner and a side of Mac and cheese. The portions were hearty which was a plus! The ribs were really good, mildly spicy with a smoked flavor! Came with four full bones. Sauce on the side was good as well, I'd definitely order again. 8.5/10 for ribs I was NOT a fan of the rice and peas, they were different than what I'm used to and seriously lacked flavor, not authentic at all. 5/10 because the texture was at least good. Cabbage was fine, nothing to write home about. It wasn't mushy or anything but slightly overcooked and also lacked flavor. 5/10 The Mac and cheese tasted better than it looked in my opinion lol I was expecting a solid, possibly baked mac and cheese but theirs is extremely soupy and heavily seasoned (garlic taste is strong). I received a great sized for $6.25 so no complaint there. I'd rate the Mac 7/10. I'd order again but I'd probably swap the rice for Mac instead which I believe is only a $2.50 Upcharge I will return to try the jerk chicken! Overall, I liked the food I just didn't LOVE it. I almost loved the ribs but I'd still return.

I had already been eyeing this place because of the positive reviews, so it worked out perfectly. We arrived around 7:20, and since they close at 8, I was hoping they wouldn't be too low on the options we wanted. Thankfully, they still had most of what we were looking for. We ended up ordering three oxtail plates (which a couple behind us seemed unhappy about, but honestly, they should have come earlier) and one stew chicken plate. I can't compare the oxtail to other places in Georgia, but it was tasty, satisfying, and the portions were reasonable. Have I had better? Definitely. I've had versions with more flavor, more gravy, and rice that was seasoned on its own. The rice here was decent, but it tasted even better once you mixed in the oxtail gravy. I'd probably skip the coco bread next time, though. Overall, the food was very good, and I'd happily come back the next time I visit Georgia. The lady who helped us was pleasant, and so was the gentleman who came out to assist her. I don't buy into that idea that the food is only good if the staff has an attitude. I've had amazing food with great service plenty of times, and this was one of those experiences. The restaurant is next to a gas station, which threw me off at first, but it's its own separate spot. There are a few tables inside if you want to dine in, but we got our food to go. Since it was close to closing time, I'm not sure if the dine-in area closes a bit earlier. I'd definitely recommend checking them out if you haven't been before and want to try some Caribbean food.
