We had the: - Jerk Chicken (with rice and peas [stew chicken cravy], cabage, and plantains) - Curry Chicken - Jerk Pork - Jerk Ribs - Oxtail Mac n cheese - Veggie Patty From top to bottom: The Jerk Chicken is tender. Make sure you get extra Jerk Sauce though! The seasoning is decent and there's a low level of spice to it. I recommend mixing it in with a bit of rice for a bite (maybe a bit of juice from the jerk ribs as well). The rice and peas are fine, but the stew chicken gravy is the star of the show. I'd get extra stew gravy on top next time I come. The cabbage is nothing to write home about, but its good fiber and doesn't clash with the other flavors of the plate. The plantain was fine as well, nice and sweet and best eaten when you first get your plate. The curry chicken is tasty! (Tender aswell) It almost falls apart in your mouth and has a decent moisture to it from the curry. Its good by itself, with the rice, or eaten with some coco bread. The jerk pork is fatty and has a good jerk seasoning flavor (not spicy at all). Its probably the most tender meat they have and its good even after being reheated a short time. The jerk ribs were my favorite! The ribs come off the bone easy and the sauce that comes on them is the best jerk sauce in the restaurant. I definitely recommend trying them if you like jerk or pork. (For a fuller, spicy note of flavor, get the hot jerk sauce to dip or pour on the ribs.) The Oxtail Mac N Cheese is okay, but its nothing too special. There's less cheese in the equation than a typical American Mac N Cheese, but the Oxtail is pretty good. Fatty, soft to chew, and almost buttery, I appreciate the influence, but I'd prefer a cheesier and saltier version of this dish. The Veggie Patty was great! I think the patties are homemade as I've never had such a good vegetable patty. I'd come back for the patties alone! The coco bread we got sat for a bit so it wasn't as soft, but I suspect thay was my fault. TLDR; I definitely recommend this restaurant! Its a 4 to 4.5/5 considering what Jamaican food in Georgia typically tastes like. We had leftovers that were good the next day! Get a jerk pork, a patty, some jerk Chicken, and make sure you get extra jerk sauce and extra gravy for your rice. read more

I placed an order for 20 jerk chicken wings and a large plate of rice and peas for a party I was hosting at my home. I prepaid for the order and provided the name of the person who would be picking it up. When my friend arrived to pick up the order, the staff said they couldn't find it and that the person who had taken the original order had already left for the day. Since they couldn't locate the order, my friend had to leave without the food. I called the restaurant after my friend returned to my house, and they again said they couldn't find the order. They told me I could come back to the restaurant to pick up the food, but I explained that I was in the middle of hosting a party and asked if they could deliver it. They said they couldn't. I then requested a refund and was told to call back the following day. When I called the next day, I was told I would have to come to the restaurant in person to receive my refund. I explained that I had placed the order online and don't live nearby, so I asked if they could simply refund the payment electronically. I was told they couldn't do that and was asked to call back in an hour because they were busy serving customers. What was most disappointing was the lack of apology or accountability throughout the entire experience. The interactions were also borderline rude, which made an already frustrating situation even worse. Unfortunately, I will have to contact my bank to dispute the charge as I'm not driving all the way up there to get a refund for an order I placed over the phone. First off, let me state how clever I think it is to turn an old fast food restaurant with mini stalls to a Jamaican restaurant with a drive-thru! I've been to this place twice, and I've only utilized the drive-through once considering the first time I went I ordered through GrubHub for pick up and the second time I ordered, I ordered via the drive-thru. When you order inside, it's like cafeteria style, where everything is laid out for you and there's no seating inside meaning this is mainly a to go spot. So ordering is fairly easy, but if there's a lot of people in there as I've experienced before , your wait time will increase a bit. The service is overall good considering they are authentic Jamaican, so sometimes they may come off a bit more abrasive, however, they smile, and they're pretty friendly. Both times I've attended within two weeks, I've ordered the curry chicken with rice and peas, cabbage, plantains, and macaroni and cheese. The food is pretty good for the price. The curry chicken is about $16 and the side mac & cheese was extra. Your curry check-in/main entrée comes with rice and peas and cabbage, and plantains. I think for that price you can't beat that. Again, the food is good and has a great flavor. Also, you get a lot of food on your plate for that price. The chicken is always tender and fall off the bone, and it's never dry. The rice and peas were not mushy or mucky, which is always always a plus because some places is overcooked the rice and beans. The plantains were good however they were almost overcooked the last visit but they were pretty busy so I'll overlook it and the flavor was still good. Now the only flaw or points I will take away from this place is the macaroni and cheese. I've learned by living in Atlanta that macaroni and cheese. Perfection is hard to come by at restaurants! Not all places know how to cook, macaroni and cheese, just because Atlanta is in the south! The mac & cheese is OK and if I were rated on a scale of 1 to 10, I would give it a 6. And to be honest, the food is pretty good to where I can omit having a side of mac & cheese with my curry chicken. Overall, I've had two good experiences other than they're always out of veggie patties and the subpar mac & cheese. You can't beat Jamaican food with a drive-through and reasonable prices! I was super excited to see a Caribbean place when we were in the plaza it's located in so we stopped to grab a platter. We ordered the curry chicken, rice and peas with plantains which was delicious. They also had quite a bit of options which was great and since everything is cooked but on warmers not only can you see what is available but it's also a quick grab and go food option. However, we also ordered two jerk chicken patties which were extremely uncooked and chewy.. so this threw us off completely and their coco bread wasn't great either so that was disappointing. The service was meh... nothing special to note. The lady helping us wasn't up for questions so we opted for what we know instead of further annoying her. Ordered jerk chicken (4.5/5) and brown stew chicken (3.5/5). Both were huge portions, seemed cooked fresh, flavor and the chicken was so tender! The jerk came with a sauce that would have spiced up the brown stew too which was a bit bland and lacking in caramelization in my opinion. It took 40 minutes from ordering to receive my food (and 20 min after the estimated time online) but the service other wise was pleasant- not overly friendly like a southern restaurant but right on par for a busy Caribbean place. Just wanted to come back on here and say that ovations has some of the best food I've ever tasted. They recently moved to a larger location just a few yards away from the old location. No change in taste or quality! I also wanted to add that they have lunch specials. I think it's like 7 or 8 dollars for a lunch portion, great value. This is how Jamaican food should taste!!! I had the jerk chicken and oh my goodness! So authentically flavorful, so tender!! It was just so good I ate it all the way down the bone. I finally found the best Jamaican restaurant!! I came here after work around 6 and they ran out of a lot of protein. My husband got the goat which was delicious!! It wasn't gamey and was seasoned to perfection. I've had authentic goat curry by my Jamaican friend born and raised in Jamaica and theirs is better!! I got the ox tail and it was so good! It was tender and delicious. What I like about this place is that with the meal, you get a side of cabbage and plaintains and almost a lb of rice! We came home and weighed our food it was almost 4 lbs. I will say, they are expensive. Our meal was $45. This was without any drinks because we ordered take out. I am always on the hunt for good Jamaican food. My go-to has been a chain that started in NY where I am from but I stumbled upon Ovations while in the shopping center and decided to give them a try. Lots of parking the parking lot. It's on the side of the shopping plaza not far from Kroger. They were very welcoming when I walked in. The atmosphere was very nice and clean. I wanted breakfast so I asked for ackee and saltfish with plantains and fried dumplings. They do have boiled dumplings If you want that. I was given a very healthy portion of ackee to the point where I had two meals! It was not watery or oily. It was very flavorful and filling.
