Well when I heard the microwave start in the back that was a wrap for me. I ate what we ordered but didn't finish the meal. The food was already prepared and was not very good. Needless to say it was definitely a market so they sold all types of Jamaican local goodies and cooked in the back. The thing that I didn't like the most was how nasty the food was lol It didn't have a lot of flavor. I ordered basic traditional food; stewed chicken, rice and peas, and cabbage. I was not impressed. I really wanted the fish but was told it would be about 45 mins as the fish is frozen and made to order. Never heard of this but it was good to know. I was drawn here due to their restaurant and I wasn't disappointed. This is a clean restaurant and market that had my food ready in less than five minutes. Unfortunately, they didn't have Beef Patties when I visited, but one of the employees gave me a veggie patty to try (free), which was delicious. The Oxtail Plate was no different in terms of quality. My only complaint is that prices are quite high, but the original prices (before inflation) were written next to current prices and those seemed reasonable. I'll definitely be coming back. read more

I have had this place bookmarked for quite some time and finally had a chance to visit (as they are closed on Sundays)! When I first walked in, I have to say I was confused by the line and lack of signage to figure out where to order, or what I can order. So I quickly walked around the section of the grocery store before circling back to the register. I ordered the jerk chicken (large) meal and the oxtail (large) meal and 3 curry chicken patties, and the total was only $32!! After trying so many different Caribbean restaurants throughout Atlanta, their prices can't be beat! The jerk chicken definitely has the right amount of spice, there was a kick to it. No complaint, except I wish there was additional sauce to the jerk chicken. We absolutely loved the oxtail, as the sauce was amazing on the rice and beans, and the plantains were a great addition to the meal. To be honest, I did not enjoy the slaw that they had on the side, will try to get something different on my next visit. I wish that the store kept a variety of the patties available, they were a 15 minute wait, so that prevented me from trying the other beef/veggie options. I was really really wanting to love this place but it wasn't good AT ALL. I got 4 large oxtail plates and the oxtails were tiny and boney. Tasted nothing like the Caribbean food we are use to from up north. The veggies were completely unseasoned and dry as a chip. Almost like dehydrated veggies. My son and I both ordered the oxtails and he ordered extra plantains.. Y'all.. I got that food in my car and immediately knew that the food was going to taste amazing. But my my my... when I actually sat down to partake...I opened my container and every bit of gravy was in that box... The rice and peas... MOIST! This is a taste I've been missing for a long time. Regular Caribbean places now does't do their jerked chicken on an outside grill the way it's supposed to be done and just do it inside and just add sauce to it. NOT THIS PLACE!! This place was phenomenal. I had a medium plate of curry chicken with a side of two beef patties. The patties were definitely the pinnacle of the meal, they were excellent flaky and freshly made. The medium was eight dollars and was perfect, but the only thing I could hope for was that there was more chicken on the medium meal. The best thing about this place was not only the food, but the excellent service. Not that this can be replicated, but I had forgot my credit card and they allowed me to come back and pay for the meal the next day, who in the world does that!!! Now, I am not sure they will always do that however it was extremely helpful in my situation and I felt like they deserved one the best reviews that I could give. My kids and I were looking for a place to eat around The area of our home without it being the same old to which we have become accustomed. My daughter suggested the Indian restaurant that opened so we stopped by. As I pulled into the parking space, I looked to my left to see this hidden gem that sold Jamaican food!! It is very difficult to find good Jamaican food and the grason/Lawrenceville area. My daughter and I jumped for joy with great hopes that this would not disappoint! As we waited for our food we talked with the delightful young lady at the register. She reassured us that we would be back for more. I told her we would see and she will see! The food is absolutely phenomenal. My daughter had Curry chicken and I had curry goat. It was more than I could say! They have a customer for as long as they are open, I am alive, or I live there. Usually you find Curry meals that are not seasoned well with little substance. Usually all bones! This was not the case here! The portion sizes were generous. There was one slight complaint. The peas and carrots medley could have been left off. There was not enough seasoning however; I didn't come for the peas and carrots! I came for the meat! LOL. Bravo Caribbean market!
