That being said, if you feel the need to act so pretentious to hobbyists, you should either stop letting them in, or hop off your self awarded pedestal and do your job, serving customers. As for the older lady, customer service is part of your job too, rushing people into purchasing film and talking over their inquires - is not. Listen, i get it. I'm not the "pro" photographer they're looking for as a customer, nor do i strive to be - i like doing this as a hobby. I came here for years because it was the only nearby film shop, and was maaaybe given the time of day to ask questions about the art once; by a guy i've never seen since. I bit the bullet and made the longer trip to PROCAM in Aurora one time, and it genuinely felt like they didnt want me to leave - if i asked a question, i got a thorough answer. I was asked questions about what i like to shoot, what got me into shooting photography, etc etc. If you're a hobbyist film photographer looking to learn more about film stocks, camera functions, do yourself a favor and head to PROCAM in aurora. They're open almost all day, every day, and they'll treat you like a human - rather than a source of income. Oh. And their film is more affordable.

Yet, I was at a loss for great pictures printing. Costco, Walgreens, and a few online companies were printing my pictures based on a grey scale. Friends were recommending pj's. I just got my test picture back and was blown away by the quality. This picture has great saturation. The colors are not muted by doing a 20% grey. Wow. Going to use them for my 16x20s!

Exceeded my expectations, and I'll be back! 3/9/16 This is a preliminary rating based on today's consultation and drop-off of media. Fully expect it'll be a 5-star review when I update it after receipt of final products! After years of neglecting old pics and videos on various media, and inheriting more of the same, I finally bit the bullet and decided to start getting this stuff into a more compact usable format: 1) so I (and others) can actually see and enjoy it 2) so my kids aren't left with boxes of stuff to go through if something happens to me 3) to better ensure preservation for future generations, as my kids may very well want to just toss boxes of old media 4) before it's too late! Realized I really need to get it done before there is no way to get stuff off of this ancient media. Wanted to use a local and specialty company, not mail-in, so found this place that has only one lil Yelp review, but an informative website, and not too far from me --- and called and spoke to Nick. Based on conversation, I brought in a smallish box with a variety of media to consult with him on how to best handle. Included: - VHS C tapes - Flip Video Cam - Tons of disposable cameras, some of the underwater type, most only partially used - XD disk - Sony Media Sticks - SmartMedia disks (oooold) - 6 oooold film cameras with the film still in them, partially used (I didn't want to risk messing up the precious contents by trying to use up remainder and remove film myself) Nick patiently explained how he'd go about handling these items, and best options for output. He took plenty of time with me (but I had called ahead to see when would be a good time to allow for consulting, so you shouldn't necessarily expect this with a walk-in when he may be busy). When I apologized for being somewhat weepy (hey, these things contain precious memories from my late mom, other deceased relatives, and from my baby's earliest years!), Nick was SO kind and empathetic. Said this is not unusual; of course when people are bringing in old stuff it's usually packed with emotional memories by virtue of it being old! I also like the back-story of this company. They took a chance and put everything into this type of service after their corporate company disintegrated. This tells me they care about the specific service they are providing, and likely put great effort into doing it well. Nick said he's going to need to investigate best method for some of the media, and I appreciate this. I know mail-in labs must by nature of their business follow a scripted process, regardless of condition of media, which may not always be the best route. I'm not sure what cost will be.... but figured worth getting started before it's not doable anymore. I have boxes more to get through - including audio cassette tapes (my mom was in a band and these are probably so fragile and crispy by now!) and VHS tapes. And personally I'd rather spend more if necessary to do business with people I can see in person, who may then feel more pride and accountability, and know they'll get more business and referrals from me if it goes well --- unlikely with a mail order service. I asked Nick if he could try to provide output in some identifiable form, including descriptions when provided on the media (such as on VHS C cases), or at least names of camera/type and/or media type, and he assured me he would do this. Very much looking forward to what comes.... and hoping I've found the right place to finally help me get through the boxes of precious memories that need to be turned into updated, usable formats. I've been interested into checking out PROCAM but was tainted by negative experiences I've had at…read moreother camera stores where the staff just seem to look down on anyone who isn't already a professional but the social media posts for their PROCAM Days weekend caught my attention and I figured that getting in with a big crowd would be the best time. In addition to sales and trade in promos they were having some speakers put on classes one of which gave me an even more solid reason to stop by. It's a big store with an impressive amount of photography equipment and just about every big brand and even some smaller ones represented. The photo processing and studio in the back kind of make it an ideal all-in-one location for all things photography related. They had plenty of helpful staff on hand to help out the crowd of people in the store at the time but the majority of customers clearly knew what they were talking about and what they were looking for. I would be interested to see how the staff are on regular business days but they did seem very friendly throughout all of my interactions. The back studio area where the class/presentation was held is an impressive size. I could see how it could be useful for a number of situations. All in all this was a great introduction to the shop and hopefully I'll be able to visit more often in the future.

What I noticed within the first few minutes, is that the staff in here are super knowledgeable. This is not ideal for someone looking for speedy fast service. What you'll find here is trustworthy, thorough, and detailed advice and expertise. Expect to be patient with wait times. They also have a studio space that can be rented by the hour for photo shoots. The only reason I have 4 stars is because I was hoping they'd offer more money for my camera. I will be back!

Either way you get the same old fashioned service for your photography needs. What I use them for is their handling of old negatives (any size) and developing of old rolls of film. I brought in some old 4" by 5" negatives and wanted them scanned to a CD ... no problem, and only $3 per negative. Once digitized on to a CD you can do anything you want with them. I also brought in some old rolls of B&W film that I uncovered in a box - they developed them and gave me a few priceless prints. So if you have some special needs in photography - although they do the routine stuff too - give these peeps a chance. Nice to have them in the area.

They came and picked up 21 of our old Hi8 tapes that we haven't been able to watch for years and convert them to DVD. They even repaired a few tapes we thought were for sure gone. The quality of the tapes are amazing and we're so excited to finally watch our old home memories! The price was also extremely fair! We will definitely use them again and are very happy to have discovered them.
