Stayed at the fisherman cabin and it was the best!!! Super amazing views all around and it had the perfect ambiance.

We are really enjoying our stay here. The cabins are well appointed, and convenient. There is a very sweet dog who greeted us at check-in. The bed is moderate quality - not the highest quality mattress, but not the worst either. The area is beautiful, and we were able to do a day trip to Orcas island via the Anacortes ferry, and will be exploring the North Cascades National Park today. read more

This Harvest Host was very nice. We had friends with us so they provided us a larger area that accommodated two rigs and two vehicles. It had a view of the green mountains. The parking more dirt than gravel so leveling was fairly easy. The road into it was gravel and it was across the street from the office location. The office staff was friendly. They were three generations of women and they were super sweet. We purchased homemade blueberry cobbler, homemade jam and rump roast. They ran out of their rib eye sadly. We stayed two nights. The first night their older dog, Jacky, walked into our camp and we fell in love with her. Apparently, she frequently walks to the different campsites to greet the neighbors. So if you have the opportunity to meet her, give her lots of pets and love. Great place and another grand experience. Again, reservations are a must. read more

I think I qualify as a regular at Ovenell's by this point! I have stayed there 3 times so far, and have had a great time each visit! The cabins are small, cute, remote and adorable, and you are surrounded by fields of cows. The view of Mt Baker from the property is BEAUTIFUL. The staff is always super friendly and welcoming, and I have so enjoyed every single interaction I've had with them! The farm animals are ADORABLE - from the horses, to the goats, to the chickens and turkeys, to the dogs. They are all super sweet and cute. Be SURE to get some jam inside the office area - it is some of the best I have EVER had, and I always stockpile some when I visit!!! Vegetarians take note though (myself included), the cows raised there are sometimes not there to "retire" if you know what I mean. I struggled with this a bit but realized that Ovenell's absolutely cares about quality of life, and seems to love all of their animals deeply. All animal husbandry should be done as well as Ovenell's. The cows are VERY happy and have acres and acres of land to roam on, they all were in outstanding health and were clearly very happy. read more

Our stay at the cougar crest house was absolutely stunning and comfortable. We were first greeted by Jackie, the white dog who was so sweet and friendly, it was a great welcome considering we got there after 5pm and picked up our house key on the outside of the office since it was closed. The accommodations were just as pictures showed, the kitchen was well stocked with pots, pans, wine glasses and all essentials for cooking. The beds were comfortable with plenty of extra blankets and pillows. The bathrooms were clean and had plenty of extra towels. The washer and dryer worked well as we had laundry to do, there was even pods of detergent and dryer sheets left for us which were beyond appreciated! The outside views were just incredible and we enjoyed drinking coffee in the morning and wine at night time just looking at the mountains. Jackie came by nightly and also scratched and whimpered at the door making me (animal lover) feel terrible for not letting her spend the night inside. I was told by the staff that she is indeed NOT allowed in the house but tries to trick you! Funny girl. We loved it here and will no doubt recommend to family and friends. read more

This place is absolutely beautiful. We stayed here for three nights in one of the cabins. It is fully furnished. All you need to bring is food. They have coffee, hot chocolate, tea...even a BBQ, briquettes and lighter fluid. The bed was a bit soft for our liking and one of the dogs at check in was a bit aggressive. They were very knowledgeable about the area and had maps for us. We highly recommend it, beautiful farm land. We will be back!!! read more

We have loved our stays here. We've been three times now and it is always lovely. Fully furnished cabin with nice kitchen space (full fridge, toaster oven, utensils...) We enjoy the farm views, walking paths, and seeing the cows, goats, dogs... also, when you check in, their baked goods and jams are delicious to try! Beautiful view of Mt Baker, and just a hop away from services in Concrete, along with the Cascades & many hiking/outdoor rec. read more

Sweets and I were going to go camping this weekend so he could show me the majesty of the North Cascades, but the weather forecast said there was a decent possibility of thunderstorms and I'm paranoid about getting crushed by an old growth forest, so we compromised and I booked the last available cabin at Ovenell's. The drive out to Concrete was strange but didn't take as long as we thought, and when we arrived it was like REAL AMERICA. The office and farm are combined, so pulling up you're greeted by some mini horses, cows, chickens, geese, and a pack of sweet Pyrenees dogs who have loud barks but are a bunch of big gentle babies. We got our key and some great maps of places to visit in the area and checked into the Wrangler cabin, about a mile away down a dirt farm road in the woods. The cabin was small but perfect for two people, with a futon in the living room that could've slept two more. There was a small kitchen with a table, a nice bed with surprisingly luxurious sheets, and a cute bathroom (the only drawback here was that the bathroom door was actually a curtain, so some maneuvering was required to maintain our collective dignity). Two ceiling fans, an outdoor picnic table, and a nice front porch rounded out the place. It was great! There's a TV and VCR in the cabin and the office has a bunch of videos you can check out. We ended our night eating gummy frogs and watching Face/Off with the living room windows open and the sounds and smells of nature turning an already great experience into a perfect one. We checked out at 11am and said goodbye to the shy dogs and horses on our way out. We also saw some majestic deer nibbling some grass, and stared like idiots at the amazing view of Mount Baker from the main house. There were definitely cheaper options in the area - a few motels and other cabins, though it was hard to tell what the quality level was and some of them gave off a real roadside-wax-museum-and-house-of-murder vibe. Ovenell's was charming and just what we needed. We can't wait to go back. read more

I'm writing this as a follow-up to a poor review I left for Ovenell's on TripAdvisor (written under the name blackCarryOn). Basically, Ovenell's messed up my reservation and did little to remedy it. The General Manager wrote a reply on TripAdvisor that contains three misstatements of fact. (I cannot reply to their reply.) I think this is important further evidence of their disorganization, to say the least. (1) They say there was confusion because I asked them to hold a reservation that my husband tried to book. They did not realize we were a couple, and it wasn't until after the call that my husband and I figured out what had happened. My husband called back in less than 10 minutes to state that it was *my* reservation he was trying to pay for, and they said they understood, and we were now assigned to the right room. (2) They say they sent an email confirmation on July 7. I can find no email confirmation from them anywhere, including in my trash and spam folders. (They did not even ask for my husband's email, and so he unsurprisingly has no email confirmation from them.) The fact they didn't ask for his email address implies they understood it was my reservation, as I had been emailing them, or else is evidence that they do not normally email confirmations. They also did not reference any confirmation letter at check-in, although I showed them an email conversation in which they said they'd hold a particular room for us (not the one they actually held). (3) They say the room we were booked in was comparable, but we went from a King to a Queen bed. We asked about bed sizes when trying to figure out options because we cared about them. Obviously, a lot of people stay here and like it just fine, but the whole experience feels really off and sad to me. Even without the mix-up, I found the value marginal. We stayed in one of the cabins on a very hot couple of days. The cabin was generally clean and well appointed, and we were very happy to find that the ac had been turned on for us. Thoughtful cleaning service, nice people. These are sort of high-end cabins. Thats a tough niche for a small, country operation to succeed in and overall these folks are doing a great job. They made a big deal of the hiking trails on the property and provided a nice map of our various options. The trails we explored were disappointing. Mostly mowed strips between cow pastures and thickets even though the property did contain a lot of potential for enjoyable river and forest strolls - but access denied. I don't think the Ovenells are big hikers. read more

Can I move here permanently? Please? So, what's not to like about this place..... The cabins have been done with a touch that you want to go back for time and again. Clean, well decorated with farm antiques, cozy and quiet. The grouping of cabins and the covered picnic tables out front scream for a family reunion or just grabbing a group of friends and having a get together. Hell, I'll bring the ribs and beer if you invite me to yours! The best part may have been the herd of cattle running back and forth between the upper and lower pastures. I heard the theme song from Rawhide in my head. In the morning I went for a walk and met Mr.Bull. Yes, there was a fence between the two of us but I kept a safe distance and listented to his deep baritone as he called to the lady cows on the other side of the fence. Watch out girls - he means business! read more

Excellent place. Close to the north cascade national park. The still house guest houses is great with 3 bedrooms and two bathrooms, large living room and laundries. The outside is beautiful and fun, with farm animals like cows and big fluffy turkeys, and also two adorable large white dogs, one of them loves to be patted, the other prefers to be a little distant. And did I mention all the apples and berries they grow in their garden? We will definitely want to stay there again. read more

Super quaint, remote but not too out in the woods, log cabin stay in Concrete. Nestled between the mountains and the river, it doesn't get nay better than this bucolic hamlet. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and feel like we found a gem that we can return to again and again. Picturesque log cabins set against the Sauk River on the back 40 acres of this huge heritage ranch/farm. When we were there the cows were just beginning to give birth and we awoke to find new babies each morning. This is a family owned and operated inn and there is a bed and breakfast in the main house. We missed the home cooked breakfast when we stayed but bought some of the raspberry and plum jam and it knocked our socks off. If you enjoy a mountain retreat with many options of outdoor activities or just want to get away from the city, stay here. WiFi is iffy though, we really couldn't get online in our cabin, cell service was nil for T-Mobile but ok for AT&T. Dog friendly although only 1 dog (we snuck our 2 labs in). Mrs. Ovenell mentioned that they had some problems with visitors dogs attacking their own so they banned dogs for awhile but lost business do to it so they are allowing them again with a quick phone interview regarding your pooch. This place is the real deal...its like out of a movie. We will come back here for every season. TONS of farm animals for the kiddies and adults alike. Our favorite was the ornery donkey and geese who wander freely in a herd and come when Mrs. Ovenell calls them. *I just wish the WiFi would be stronger and that they allowed 2 pets on a case by case basis.* read more

This is one of the most peaceful getaways I've had recently. If you want to get away from the noise and chaos of city (or even suburb) life, this is the place to go. They even allow dogs in a couple of the cabins, which worked out great for us and our 85-pound goofball. This is a great place for animal lovers, since you can see wildlife nearby, as well as the animals that live on the ranch. The owner and staff are very welcoming and informative about the area. They are genuinely very nice people who take great care of their inn, not to mention their rescue dogs (that won us over even before we saw the great accommodations!). read more

All I can say is WOW. This place is great. 1st trip up to this area to see the bald eagle on the Skagit river and had a great time. Ovenell's was the PERFECT place to stay. Clean cabins the were cozy and felt like home. The setting was relaxing. The owners are the greatest and made you feel at home. Little individual cabins are cute and comfortable. I never wanted to leave. This place is a working ranch and the owners are animal people. They have 3 Great Pryanees dogs that we loved getting to know. Our OWN two dogs enjoyed the cabin, as we did, and there are plenty of places to walk them. On our way into town for supper, we saw 3 huge elk just standing in the road. I got some awesome pictures. If you're looking for an out-of-the-way place to stay, this is simply the best. read more

Feels like I stepped back in time at Ovenell's Herirage Inn, back to a time when the pace was slow & everyone around me was friendly. Ovenell's is a family run Inn just outside of Concrete, WA. We stayed at the Inn for a hiking vacation. The Inn has options & all of them are terrific. We moved around while we were here & experienced three of them. We stayed in two different cabins across from the main house & also in the house attached to the Inn. The views of Mt. Baker are what standout when we stayed near the inn. The cabins have a cozy atmosphere with a shared fire pit. The hiking in the area was amazing & Ovenell's was the perfect place to return each night to relax, cook, watch sunsets & get a good night rest. read more

What a wonderful place to stay if you plan on being in this area. Eleanor Ovenell and her family and staff are as nice a group of people as you can find. They provided everything we needed and more during our eight night stay while hiking the North cascades. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and had all the amenities you would find at home. I would return again and again when the time permits me to get away on a trip to this area. Lovely property for sure but what draws you back would be the caring attitudes of the people here. Cute, clean and comfortable. Comfortable log cabin off the beaten path near Concrete. Space in cabin is well used with small kitchenette, futon, comfortable double bed, gas stove for heat, if needed. Pleasant setting in the middle of North Cascades. Friendly staff. $150 price tag is a bit high, however. Wi-fi is spotty. read more

Needed a place to crash for a float river trip the next morning. Stayed in the woodsman. Very nice place. Well kept and clean. People are awesome and truly inviting. Over the phone (credit card reservation) we were encouraged to come early and enjoy the ranch and river. I'm glad I made that choice. The check in girl was a sweetheart and made us feel right at home. (Wished I would have gotten some of that homemade jam I was thinking about when we checked it.) The cabins are way back off the road and the walk down to the river was private and serene. You can appreciate the real power of the river here and rock hounded on one of the gravel bars. If you like to hike the entire property has a circuit to follow but it was pouring rain so we cut it short to hang out in the cabin. I can't recommend enough the read on the history of the ranch. I found it fascinating that the main house had been moved 3 times. I would have enjoyed seeing markers for the original locations so I could have envisioned it while I was standing there. The only maybe downside was the wireless was spotty and that could have well been my ipad is old. I really didn't come up to sit on my computer though so I figured out my directions the old fashioned way. I just started driving. :-) read more

Very cozy and well-equipped! Great place to stay for exploring the great local hiking. Great view of Mt. Baker and easy access to the trails we wanted to hike, being Park Butte and Mr. Sauk. These people know nothing about customer service. They messed up my reservation several times. I asked for late checkout, and they charged me for it in advance and then told me that I had to check out at the regular time. They charged me for extra bedding and didn't actually provide any extra bedding. I asked about special accommodations for my mother which they assured me were available, but they weren't (if they'd warned me in advance that they were unable to accommodate her needs, I could have found a different place, but although I talked to two different people by phone several days in advance, neither warned me that I'd find upon check-in that they had no such accommodations). The photos show cute fireplaces in the cabins but once in the room there's a big sign stating that use of the fireplaces is not allowed. Very little about this place resembles the quaint photos. The only good thing about it is proximity to the beautiful Skagit River, but there are a couple of closer places I would definitely choose on my next visit to the area. read more
