Ken, one of the owners came for the estimate and was enjoyable to work with. He explained things very well and made excellent suggestions. The estimate was very reasonable and clear. Patrick, the electrician, arrived at the agreed upon time and got right to work. He paid close attention to detail and worked quietly and efficiently. He was also enjoyable to work with and explained thing very well. Ultimately, Ken and Patrick were able to save us approximately $400 because their tests indicated that we did not need a power upgrade as we first thought. Partick finished on time and the work was excellent. As a little added bonus, Ken dropped by about half way through the process to inspect Patrick's work and dropped off some chocolates because he said it would help relieve some of the stress of having the work done. No repairs were performed and I was ultimately told that the AC was operating normally, without a solution to the temperature difference I had called about. I understand paying for diagnostic time, but $300 for this visit felt very expensive, and I wish the additional charges had been clearer when I scheduled. Update: I appreciate the business owner commenting on their charge process. The technician specifically noted charging me for 45 minutes, and I have an email time stamped 45 minutes after he started work. Also, none of the paperwork notes that the initial charge includes 30 minutes of time, which further emphasizes my point about transparency. Update: Update: I previously listed the wrong dollar amounts, so I am correcting them after reviewing my invoice. I was charged $149 for the diagnostic visit plus $130 for an additional 45 minutes of labor, for a total of $292.95 with tax. After the business stated that the technician spent approximately 75 minutes diagnosing my AC, I requested their timestamped records. Their records show that at 12:38 PM I signed their Customer Acknowledgement stating that "all work has been completed," and my invoice was emailed at 12:40 PM. However, they are counting time through 12:51 PM toward the 75-minute visit based on their tracking system. I disputed the additional labor charge and requested a refund. The company refused and offered only a credit toward future service, which I declined. My concern is not that diagnostic work costs money. My concern is being charged for diagnostic labor that I do not believe is supported by the company's own records.

While I was not crazy about Pam in our initial interaction, she got better over time. After comparing multiple bids, I selected Seider, their Daikin Central Air unit came with an almost unheard of 12 year parts and labor warranty. With a little back and forth with Todd on a time for installation, we were all set. Pam and I scheduled the day and time and sure enough, the installers were there exactly when Pam said they would be. Just two minor quibbles that prevented five stars here: 1) After installation, the installers left behind some screws on the floor that I naturally stepped on in stocking feet several days later. 2) The electrician asked before using my bathroom, but did not feel the need to wash his hands afterwards. Everything else was great and I would use them again in the future.

He retired, the company changed hands a couple years ago and this is what happened. The new tech "Nick" arrived and immediately declared our existing unit obsolete. He never layed a meaningful hand on the equipment. Since it was 26 years old I decided to go with his advice which lead to cursory look at our furnace and a caution that "Carrier" was fazing out of residential HVAC equipment and they no longer sold it. He suggested that we stop right there before he did any "work" and have his brother "Dan" come in to give me an estimate on replacing both units. He said there would be NO CHARGE for him since he hadn't done anything. He left and Dan came an hour later and gave me an estimate for roughly $14,000. It was emailed to me. When I looked for it the first thing I saw was a bill for $135 for "Cancelling the Tune-up"! There was nothing wrong with my equipment so I called the "office" and this awful receptionist, Heather, immediately got defensive. She insisted that the technician should have told me about the charge and that she would have a lien put on our house if I didn't pay! She Hung up when I told her that she likely just caused her company to lose a $14,000 job. I called back the next day, hoping to get through to anyone who understood the situation. If they were going to charge me $135 for nothing, I wanted them to come back for the $179 tune-up. "Heather" answered again and refused to forward the call, and hung up again! I am a respected business man in the real estate and financial business for over 40 years. I have given out hundreds of referrals over that time. I would never recommend this HVAC company again if they were the last one on earth!

I turned it down and called E&R Heating and the trip charge was $125 and then the thermostat plus install was another $100 for a total of $225. I have rental properties that I don't manage anymore so I haven't had to call an HVAC person in years since the property manager does that for me. I knew the price should be around $200-300 total and almost $1000 was just insane.

The first time was okay, I let him inside (during COVID) even though he was doing outdoor work so he could see the space. He never wore a mask, didn't even have one, and no shoe covers either. The next time I asked him to wear a mask and I had to provide one to him. The next time (yes, this has been almost two months and the project still isn't complete) he showed up to the job with a dead drill? He needed to plug it into my house to charge, and then just sat in his van half an hour letting it juice up. We wanted two over-door lights and two outdoor outlets put in. He would leave siding open on the house showing the insulation and then leave for days at a time, even during rain storms. The last time he came over he slammed so hard that the plaster wall cracked INSIDE the house! We had two switches to be fixed inside, he did one then sat down and said he was too tired for the day and needed to go home. So he just.... left? Still hasn't been fixed. Now it's been three and a half weeks since he "finished" the project and guess what? The switches for the outdoor lights are swapped. One side of the duplex controls the other side's outdoor lights and vice versa. We've been calling this whole time to get him to return and fix the work, but no one has showed up.
