I was very happy with the new furnace that Kettle Moraine installed. I had a sewage back up in my basement in November and the furnace had not been right since. I had another firm come out and check it over and they said it was OK because the filter was not wet. The furnace continued to leak and I wanted to have a Lennox dealer come and check it. I called Kettle Moraine and they came the day before Christmas Eve.The professionalism and honesty of the technician who gave me the estimate was excellent. He spent quite a bit of time taking apart the furnace and checking the inside. He showed me where the sewage back up had gotten inside the furnace and affected the controls and insulation. He documented all of his results and advised me to send it to my insurance company. I did not expect the insurance company to pay for it as I had exhausted the limited sewage benefit under my policy. The technicIan from Kettle Moraine had provided such detailed documentation that my insurance company covered the furnace in full. Kettle Moraine technicians arrived on the Monday after Christmas at 8:00 am and were done by about 3:00. In my opinion they were exceptional in all of the work they did. They made adjustments to the ductwork to force more heat into the back bedrooms which had always been cold. They went above and beyond a routine install. They took the time to make sure I understood everything about the new furnace. I would highly recommend their team of knowledgeable, professional and experienced people to anyone. read more

AC was out. They said we had a leak and either $3000 to repair or $8000 to replace. Plus they changed out our thermostat for No Reason and it sucks: no directions given. We got a Second opinion and for $700 they fixed it! read more

Well, we are 100% satisfied with the quality of workmanship, professionalism, prompt service, friendly attitude and excellent products sold. We have never needed a service call on either machines to date. The annual maintenance is such an outstanding offer. It gives you peace of mind that your investment is being taken care of. I was just called for my annual furnace checkup, this reminded me to post a review. These checkups are not cheap and they don't include a filter change (addition cost). Please see the four pictures I took after the checkup. In my opinion- 1) The furnace door should have been cleaned and a new filter should be included (knowing they can buy in bulk and supply the filter for much cheaper than I can purchase). 2) The holes left in the ductwork initially should have been covered up, and definitely should have been caught during the maintenance check. 3) The gap in the putty should have been closed up, super easy. 4) The furnace maintenance sticker should have been documented as being completed. None of these issue were difficult for me to complete, but when you are paying for maintenance, I don't see why they didn't do the basics. FYI- I was told the warranty may not be honored if I don't have their maintenance completed, I guess I'll press my luck. FYI(2), Purchased 6 filters (bulk discounted) online making them $5 less per filter than what they were quoting me. read more

I'll give them one extra star since the technician was honest about the gouging, at least. These guys were scheduled through Lowes. Now, the way that SHOULD work is, if you're booking through Lowes, they will install a product that Lowes sells (to make sure you're not getting price gouged). That's not how Kettle Moraine works. The way they work is that Lowes is nothing more than a finder, but the company they choose (which you have no input on) can happily price gouge you on parts because they will not install parts sold at Lowes - despite being scheduled through Lowes. The technician was honest enough to admit that they have a 36% markup on parts. Which doesn't work for me (brother). This is after talking to a gal who said that they DO work from the Lowes price sheet. So that inconsistency in messaging is a huge issue. Maybe they're fine going direct with them, but I wouldn't recommend them based on the experience I just had. read more

Had Kettle Moraine put in a new furnace and air conditioner. We wanted to move our furnace from one side of the basement to the other, and they quoted accordingly. On the day of the furnace install they didn't even bother moving it. They installed it and were about to leave when my husband came home and demanded that they do the job we were quoted for. Also they installed a new air conditioner and didn't fill the AC unit with Freon, it was half full. I had someone else out to tune up our unit and they brought it to my attention. While I can't judge the Quality of their work, my rating is based on trying to get them to reconnect a radiator in my living room. They submitted a bid last year which I would have accepted, but some medical issues intervened.I tried to contact them in June to see if the bid was still valid, but if not they could submit a new bid. Despite voice messages, their associate would not return my calls. I finally called the main office and they informed me that the service call (for a re-bid only) would cost me some $189 + tax. I asked them why their ads said "free estimate"? Apparently, the"free estimate" only applied if you wanted a bid on a new heating or AC system. I can't see where coming out to inspect my issue would cost them any more than a call to bid for an HVAC system. If I can't make easy contact with them for my job, I can hardly judge the quality of their work. read more

Way overpriced compared to others I've spoken to. This was 2 years ago we had a furnace and ac installed. Salesman came in with his computer and prices and I nearly crapped my pants when I saw it would be $12,000 to replace both. Just spoke with some recently who had both replaced in a comparably sized house and same Lennox units. He paid $7500 for both units. So I don't know why they charged so much and we didn't try to Jew them down and figured that's what it costs to replace. I wish we would have gotten several quotes but I was honestly like just do it we need ac and they did come the next day to install. I guess you will never see a price breakdown of their work but $5000 more than what another local hvac company will do is ridiculous in my opinion read more

Quoted me $119 for trip charge plus cost for whatever they found wrong. However, they knew they were going to charge me $320.00 for a diagnosis, but didn't tell me until they were here and had me on the hook for the first $119. ... btw, I did not need a diagnosis. Details: My air conditioner wouldn't start so I searched YouTube for the fix. I quickly learned that my capacitor needed to be replaced and that this is very routine, like changing a battery. The capacitor gives an electrical boost that starts the fan spinning, so I could just use a stick to get the fan spinning until the new capacitor could be installed. The videos demonstrate how to do it yourself in ten minutes with a $20 capacitor from Amazon. However, I decided to call KM, my local Carrier dealer and was quoted a trip charge of $119 plus whatever else they found wrong. I told them it works well except for the capacitor, but they were unable/unwilling to give me a price. Very suspicious, but I knew the part was less than $20 so I scheduled the appointment. When the service guy arrived (early with a phone call ahead), we walked to the unit together and it was already running. I believe he asked if it was cool in the house, then handed me an iPad to sign for a $462.25 charge before he could proceed. He then sat in his van for 15 minutes, walked over and popped the capacitor in (2 minutes) for a total visit of 30 mins or less. I assumed this charge was a mistake between the office and technician, so I called the office. The office confirmed that this is their standard charge because they always have to do a diagnostic. So, a $20 part, plus the $119 trip charge, plus $320 to diagnose the issue with a unit was working when I called them and was working when they arrived. I did a quick google search for other similar complaints and the worst case I saw in the United States was a charge of $250, but most were complaining about less than $200. read more

We selected Kettle Moraine Heating & A.C. for our pre-season check-up. Service man Shaw showed up with a helper and the first thing they did was check the thermostat, I thought to make sure it was set for heating. 10 minutes later they were back with the bad news that the system would not start and needed $600.00 worth of repairs. Now, the "inoperative" part they showed me would fit in the palm of your hand and in no way was worth $600.00, which I told them.. They spent the next 15 minutes in their truck and returned, saying the cost was now $140.00. They did not have the part with them, and said they would return. Then, I checked the thermostat and discovered they had turned it off. No wonder the system would not start! Reporting same to Mr. Brink at K-M's main office he had no answer except to insist I tell him why his service men did this. Obviously it was to try and sell an unneeded $600.00 service call. Doug, the tech, arrived on time and performed the maintenance inspection on the furnace. No problems were found, and Doug explained what what he did and the tests performed. Note that I am only reviewing the scheduling, not the HVAC service quality. I called this business in the morning and everything began professional. I was asked a bunch of questions about my furnace to prep the technician who was to arrive at my house that day. Then it went downhill. The dispatcher called me and asked me the same questions and said (late morning) that I was the next stop. 2 hours went by and I got a phone call from them stating that even though my window was 12-2 the technician got stuck at the previous customer's house but that he's still coming next. Then from about 2-5 I got a couple phone calls but ultimately the one around 445pm said that the technician can still come if I wanted him to. They basically threw the last customer under the bus to explain why they were late. I called another business instead. We wasted an entire day at home waiting for this technician. In the cold. 2 stars for at least calling to tell me that their schedule is a mess. Thanks for the update but I just want you to show up when you are supposed to--especially when its 50 in my house. read more

We had a problem with a knocking noise every time our heat turned on. Called multiple companies in walworth county to come out. All had different ideas but insisted we didn't need a new furnace. Kettle Moraine came out, told us the only way to fix the problem was with a new furnace. So we bought the best Lennox furnace you can buy.. only to find out the furnace was not the problem. The knocking noise is the exact same after a 5600$ furnace. After our furnace was installed they give you a mound of papers, one which said if not satisfied within 3 days you can remove the furnace. Well, when I went to tell the owner of the company I was not satisfied and I want to know more about the 3 day rule.. he said sorry that's not for furnaces installed due to custom work.. WHY on earth would you give this out to someone then? Especially after the job is completed? I believe that kettle moraine sends out a salesman when they get a call for heating problems, to try to sell you a furnace and get the most money they can from the call. What a joke! read more

We called Kettle Moraine Heating and Air Conditioning during a heat advisory. The technician came out after 3 days to look at the unit. He told us the control board was bad since it had power coming in, but no power going out of the board. He said it would need a control board and that the board and refrigerant could run $2000. He suggested 2 options - a $13,000 mini-split unit and a $600 'window shaker' because he wouldn't suggest fixing the board. I asked the technician to try to find the board and get back with me, but I never heard from him again. We bought the $600 window unit but it couldn't come close to cooling the house. We decided to return the window unit and call a different HVAC company (Alpha Heating and Cooling). That company came out the same day I called, diagnosed the problem (a shorted quick disconnect so power was only on one leg of the 3 phase circuit), fixed the issue, did routine maintenance including adding refrigerant for less than $400. The AC is working well now. The system is older and will need replacement soon. The other HVAC company gave me 5 different options depending on our budget and needs. It is a shame because we have been pleased with Kettle Moraine Heating and Air Conditioning service before, but I can tell you that when the AC unit goes out - we will be contacting Alpha Heating and Cooling. read more
