Date of service: October 6, 2022 An unfortunate side effect of our new roof was that the crew took out our post light in the front yard with their equipment. They were great about getting it resolved especially as it took me a while to find an electrician that could come to the house and work with our schedule. Since part of the issue with contractors such as this is the service call piece, I decided to take advantage of the situation and have them replace the ceiling fan in our office as the fan part seemed to have died an early death. Scheduling with their website was relatively easy though I did have to have the obligatory call with them to essentially repeat what I said in my online message. A key thing for me was that I needed a separate invoice for the post light and the ceiling fan as the roofing company wouldn't be reimbursing me for that expense, obviously, but I also didn't want to pay two trip charges. Drake, the electrician that came out was quite friendly and personable. I have no complaints with the work that was done, though he did dispose of the user manuals for both the ceiling fan and the post light without asking me. I am sure I could get them online but it's always easier to have the book handy as model numbers change and I won't likely remember the name of the manufacturer of these items years later. Where I am a little leery of Over the Moon is that the cost of the two jobs--each took almost an identical amount of time, about two hours per--were wildly different in price. The post light installation was four times the cost of the ceiling fan. I'm not sure if that's because their service call rate is astronomical or if they felt that they could gauge my roofing company, but it seemed a bit off to me. Lastly, getting invoices for each item took a bit of doing as the first email I received was really just a couple lines of text on a plain PDF. Thankfully after I asked for something more did I get separate invoices for the two jobs. read more

Not only was the quote ridiculously high, but I was made to feel unsafe in my own home. I called last year for a quote to install 4 can lights in my kitchen. The guy said he needed to take some measurements, and before I had a chance to respond, he went down the hallway and looked in all the bedrooms. He then asked if there was anyone else in the house. As a woman alone in a house, this is a very unsettling question. He then quoted me over $5000 for the 4 can lights in the kitchen plus 4 more in the living room. He said I also needed to replace old outlets in the bedroom. (Now I know why he wanted to look in the bedrooms.) He said I also needed to install a dimmer switch, a second switch for the lights, and a whole house surge protector. I said I only wanted the can lights and one dimmer. He then quoted me $4600 for the kitchen lights, 2 dimmer switches, and the surge protector. I again said I only wanted the kitchen lights. He then got a "manager" on the phone who stated that it would be "foolish to pass up such a good deal". He asked me which package I wanted to sign up for. I said I would need to think about it. A year later, I am still getting texts to set up appointments with them. I went with a different company that charged me $1100 for a master electrician to install 5 can lights and a dimmer switch. The other electrician said that I did not need those other things, and even if I did, $4600 was a ridiculously high quote. I would not recommend this company. read more

The techs cracked the LB conduit and seemingly attempted to cover it up with inadequate spray foam which is a substantial safety hazard and 3 FAILED INSPECTIONS due to POOR WORKMANSHIP.....need I say more. Stay away from this company and if you've used them and had a similar experience file a complaint with DSPS to actually hold them accountable. read more

Dark side of the Moon This company stinks. Unless you would like to go broke, I would recommend staying away from them. They practice a predatory game of high pressure sales combined with a complete lack of price transparency. They will come up with high ticket projects that you must have or else your house will fall apart. It is impossible to determine how they come up with prices for projects because you can't get an itemized price break down for any job. If you ask for an itemized price break-down they tell you everything is in a package. The package has no price break down and does not provide any price transparency. There is no information as to what they charge for parts or labor. This is not common to this industry. In addition, they seem to carry as low on inventory as possible. This low inventory practice makes money for them but causes unnecessary delays in getting jobs done in a timely manner. Weeks can go by while they try and get a part from a vendor in Los Angeles or further away. read more

I called to get a quote for running new wire from my house to my garage. What did I like? 1) They told me they partner with Hunger Task Force, so I could donate 5 non-perishable goods instead of paying dispath fee. 2) Employees that came to my house were courteous and respectful and seemed knowledgeable. 3) Staff answering the phone were very friendly. What did I not like? 1) Tech that came to my house spent 2 hours looking at my circuit breaker box and plugging a device into a few of my outlets, talking about a concern with "voltage drop" that might be cause of garage power outage. It wasn't, but he was looking for other services to sell me. Never quoted me for the service I needed done. 2) Supervisor came by 2 hours later to re-inforce the "voltage drop" concern. Gave me a quote. Quote included surge protectors for each circuit box that I did not ask for. After surge protectors removed from quote, it was still $4400 more than the quote of the company I ultimately hired to do the work. Tech and supervisor both got their boss (same guy) on speakerphone to discuss voltage drop concern. Would cost $200+ per outlet to repair and still not guaranteed to resolve voltage drop concern. Very suspect operation. I will never call this company again for anything. If you do, be sure to get multiple quotes from other companies. read more

Lazy technician had to come out twice to get in-ground conduit buried 12" per city ordinance, only the technician still couldn't manage to dig so I helped dig in order to avoid another failed inspection. I wound up tearing my rotator cuff in the process and had to undergo surgery to repair the tear. Meanwhile OTM continued to send solicitations via email and when I unsubscribed from those they switched to text messages. I had to threaten to report them to the FCC as they would not stop texting with offers of service discounts, etc. Thankfully the texts finally stopped. Would not recommend them, even if their services were free. read more

What a waste of time! Scheduled through "Electrician Today" referral service. "Technician" showed up on time . I went through my needs. They spent all this time opening panels searching through non used wiring, reported they were there to assess and I'd get a "quote" to get the work done if I accepted the quote "this year or next" and I paid (before the work is done). So I asked is the wiring problem in the outlet or along the run? They didn't know unless they did a "diagnostic" and that would be another day if I accepted the quote. ...No info, no work done!! My husband & I looked at each other this morning after having a furnace & air conditioner installed yesterday that stopped working during the night. We think we made a $15,000 mistake. Started Tuesday a tech inspecting our system, 22 yrs old, at the very end of its life. Okay, then the high pressure sales action began. Quick figures, few questions, write a check for full amount, write a Google review while the tech was still in our home. The check cleared our bank by Thursday...started installing on Wednesday afternoon, finished Thursday at 7:30. Then it stop producing warm air.....early morning texts and phone calls. It seems to be functional now. will we ever call them if we need service....highly improbable. read more

I would not recommend this company to anyone. I would read all the reviews including the negative ones which are similar to my experience before using them. They were out for a furnace checkup. They told me my exchanger had a crack and that my machine was not safe to run and needed to be replaced. We ended up replacing entire HVAC. Suspiciously they cut the price of that in half somehow. But then problems emerged as since install it has taken 7 months and 12 visits, each of those visits with multiple techs and supervisors in and out of my house to try to get these Amana machines to work and pass city inspection. The furnace did not work and the AC did not work. The entire AC and a large portion of the furnace was replaced after install due to not working correctly. We were told multiple times the issue had been fixed only to find the next warm day that it was not in fact working and we had to call them back. They failed city inspection the first time. This included a fairly straightforward issue including not having the right breaker installed for the size of machine they put in. We were offered an extended "gold membership" as repay for our lost time and wages to deal with these issues. We demanded a partial refund as we were not satisfied with the above experience, which someone named Shawn, who described himself as a manager, agreed to give us, but we never received this. Now this company will not return our calls and we are left with an HVAC system we do not fully trust. Others have had similar negative experiences here if you scroll through these reviews. Initially had them upgrade my breaker and add a circuit. I was very pleased with the work. When my air conditioning went I decided to call them again and had them install it. I realized after that the ac unit was probably oversized when my neighbor had their unit replaced (same size house) and it was much smaller. I guess that was my fault for trusting them. After all this work about 6-9 months later they called and said that I needed an inspection. I thought they wanted to check the ac. When they arrived they said it was an electrical inspection. They checked outlets and then talked about voltage drop and the need to replace outlets and add gfci outlets. I didn't want it done, the tech then called the manager who also said that this needed to be done and it was a code violation. It was all bs. I do remember them wanting to charge about $200 per outlet. It was a scam. I will never use them again read more

I'd give a 0 if I could. I did a search for local Heating and AC repair, and Over The Moon (OTM) was the first that came up. I explained that last year I had to have freon put in the unit and wanted that checked, but also was probably looking at getting it replaced as well as the furnace. A technician came out and did a bunch of readings. It wasn't until much later (after I asked again about the freon) that I was told it was a little low but not enough to cause problems. Another guy showed up and showed me package deals with the highest at $33,000, next down was $24,000. There were a total of five packages. I asked more than once for manufacturer and model but was never given that information. The sales tactics were high pressure; they did not want me having time to talk to anyone to get opinions or advice. From the start I felt I wasn't getting a good deal, but I was told by OTM that everyone's pricing was similar (I asked) and I figured it's the new reality and maybe I was paying a little more with OTM, but I wanted to get it done because I have a senior dog and the temperature in the house had gotten up into the 80's. So I agreed, but I ended up talking to them later and changing the package to something lower. I was assured the installation would be the next day with arrival between 8:00 am and 10:00 am. They didn't show up. No call, no email, no text. A text to the guy that came to the house went unanswered. Called main office, was told I was not on a schedule. I told him they needed to get back to me soon or I was cancelling. 90 minutes later, no call, so I texted that I was cancelling the deal. I had three other companies come to quote me after cancelling, and each quote is around $10,000 less; and it is quality name brand equipment. None of these other companies pressed me for an answer immediately. All of these companies gave me brochures about the devices and model numbers. Now for the best part best part. Not only did they lie about industry pricing, they LIED to my face about the freon level - even knowing that I have an elderly dog that was struggling in the heat. There's more I could add but if this doesn't convince you to not use Over The Moon or at least get multiple quotes, nothing will. I dodged a major bullet by them not showing up for the installation. To address Shawn's comments: The price I paid with the other company was around $10,000 less and INCLUDED duct work that OTM was pricing at $7,600 if I didn't agree to the deal immediately. It is also hard to do an apples to apples comparison when OTM didn't provide model number information even though it was requested more than once. OTM lied about industry pricing and told me that everyone's pricing went up during COVID. Again, I specifically asked the question of them. OTM lied about the freon not being low enough to cause any problems. I talked to OTM the night before about changing from a $24,000 package to an $18,000 package. I was assured on that call that the install would be the next morning with arrival between 8:00 AM and 10:00 AM. OTM can try to spin it any way they want, it doesn't change the facts of my experience. And I have been telling everyone I know. I took a call from the sales guy that came to my home, and was offered free duct cleaning to not cancel. I declined and said I was done. I received a text from the same guy that offered the duct cleaning sometime later offering a whopping 5% off. I declined. The call that went to voice mail was after the above. I didn't answer because it came up on my phone as a spam call and I do not answer those. But had I known it was them, I wouldn't have answered because by that time I was aware of their lies and done with them, their high pressure tactics, and the disrespect shown by not showing up for the install with no communications and how long it took for someone to get back to me once it was brought to their attention. read more

I would give them -10 stars if I could. Had a tech come by with the last name Lee*. He came at 850 and didn't leave until after 11 for an estimate. We have a specific project in mind that he was supposed to come evaluate- he disregarded everything and continued to do his own thing. He went on about how we need to replace every outlet and every fixture. We explained to him that we were not interested and we only wanted wiring done in the basement so we could complete our project. He basically threw a temper tantrum and told us that if we don't agree to his contract at this very moment* he wasn't able to help or provide and estimate. After TWO HOURS of our time, he insisted that it was an immediate yes or no. He didn't leave us with any information or estimates on what he actually looked at. Extremely unprofessional and disrespectful to say the least. I do not recommend these people especially if you are person of color, he was clearly projecting some views and didn't like that we weren't willing to sign on the spot. read more

This company gave my elderly brother a very high quote for a new furnace and air. High pressure also, he had no time to think and they made him pay 1/2 down, which was a lot of money. He called and cancelled within a few days.... a few days later they tried to cash his down payment! I don't trust places that do business like this. read more

I've seen complaints of this company over selling people. I was looking for them to put in outlets in the basement for my washer and dryer and an upright freezer. I also wanted a ceiling fan installed and rewire light switches in the master bathroom. Those were down quickly and without incident. Upon inspection in the basement we found we had no more room in the circuit box for any more circuits. So the circuit box had to be upgraded along with the wiring from the outside meter (60 amps) to the inside circuit box (100amps). There were other items brought to code in my 64 year old home. So, did they over sell me? Or did they make repairs/upgrades needed in a 64 year old house? I believe they did the later. Everyone we worked with or talked with was VERY friendly and concerned that we were happy with their service. I'd recommend them to anyone looking for electrical work. read more

And the guy actually had a tone with me . ...anyways. he walks me through the bypass of the part that needs to work for the furnace to light - but according to him this isn't anything his tech would check in an inspection - this actual valve that has to work for the furnace to fire. really ? I watch it the rest of the night after my house warms up and it works now. asked my wife to cancel the "emergency appt" for Monday i dont ever want them on my property again. Oh. I was told by the service tech that my air conditioning unit was on its last legs and it would cost 11000 to replace the unit and clean the ducts. Another reputable company quoted me less than half that and said that the readings were normal for the age of the unit. It could last awhile longer. I needEd a repair to a light switch that worked in tandem with several other switches. I called the company, and an electrician, Alex came over promptly, completed the repairs efficiently and even found some other items that need to be fixed. He was thorough, polite and finished his work promptly. The cost of the repair was very reasonable. He also had his project supervisor look things over and prepare an estimate for items I should consider updating in the future as my home is nearly 50 years old. I went ahead and approved but wish I had read other reviews and got a second opinion as I question the necessity and the 5.7k price for 4 hours of work replacing duct work and other "minor" connection work. We've invested a lot in Over the Moon over the last two years and they have not disappointed in both the responsiveness of their service and the quality of their work. We've had everything from a new service panel and HVAC to venting bathroom fans. All of the guys who have been here have been polite, hard working, and willing to answer all of our questions. Had two encounters with this business and both were not pleasant. The technicians were all nice but feel the company as a whole plays games to get their customers to pay more than they need to. First interaction was for electrical work, and the quote came in thousands of dollars more than what I am actually paying for with another company. There were also conversations that happened with their leadership in front of me that overall I think we're unprofessional. The second encounter was supposed to be for a tuneup and cleaning of my furnace. Or at least that's what I thought. They came, found something wrong with my furnace and permanently shut it off. This has to be the most unprofessional company ever. I inquired about getting a quote for an electrical system upgrade from 100amp service to 200amp service. First, the person they sent out didn't know anything about doing the system upgrade. And he claimed he was out there to test some outlets for voltage drop and some other things. Well, he forgot that equipment, and then apparently, he also realized that his office changed things around, and he was supposed to be at a different house than mine. So he did almost nothing for over an hour before another 2 guys arrived and spent over another hour messing around with things. Mind you, no other estimates that I got from any other electrician took more than 30 minutes. This visit took over 2 and a half hours. And at the end, they did the obnoxious high-pressure sales call and tried to upsell me with the silly nonsense that if you set a date today, you'll get 10% off their highly inflated quote. In the end, they spent almost 3 hours and had the highest quote of 7 electricians that I've gotten quotes from. And to top it off, they flipped a bunch of brakers and never turned them back on, so multiple things around the house were not working. I can not stress enough that I would avoid this company at all costs. I feel sorry for anyone who gets work done through this company. read more

I had In Phase come out out for a fall furnace tune up and was so pleased with the service tech I decided to purchase their Gold Package that included a Spring air conditioning check up. This past Spring a different tech came out and said my 30 amp Condenser (see pic) probably need to be replaced and if he should replace it. I asked how much and he said about $240.00. I called a buddy of mine who use to own his own AC business and he told me that is a $9.00 part and takes 5 minutes to install. Needless to say I told him just to put the worn one back in. Flash forward to a hot day in May when we turned our AC on for the first time. We turned on the AC and nothing. I called my buddy who came from Madison and was able to spot a wiring issue that any tech should have been able to spot. He fixed it in 5 minutes and replaced that $9.00 part in another 5 minutes. I called In Phase and they apologized saying they would make a note not to have that service tech service our house again. Now flash forward again to 10 days ago where I thought ok maybe that guy was not that knowledgeable but the Company seems good so I called them again to get an estimate to move a gas line for a new stove. I schedule it out 10 days and only asked they do not send out that same tech. The day of the appointment they call me and say the tech we did not want was the only one available and would it be ok if he came out. I said no and they said then I would need to re-schedule. This was the last straw. It's unfortunate they handled it this way. The lady who called me seemed bewildered why I would not want the same tech to come out. I had even recommended them in early Spring to a friend but could not believe their disregard for a simple request and very likely price gouging. I I called Arctic Air and spoke to Brian and he said he would get someone out to take care of moving the gas line. read more

They used high pressure sales techniques and scare techniques (using my children's safety) to get me to agree to a $16,000 price tag in electrical work that it turns out I never actually needed. They also tried to do the same thing with our HVAC system 6 months later (highest price for the work they recommended for $18,000 and then the "bare minimum" work that "needed to be done" was $7,000) and thankfully I got two other companies to come look at it before agreeing to the repairs, which both other companies said there was absolutely nothing wrong with our HVAC system and that over the moon was trying to take advantage of us. Over the Moon is dishonest and every aspect of their conversations with me ( face-to-face conversations with supervisors or phone calls to managers) were to try to upsell me on things I didn't need. I also over heard one of the managers coaching the technician working on my HVAC system on how to get me to agree to a service that was more expensive ($661) than what other companies charge ($122-200) after I question the technician about it being significantly overpriced. They ended up charging me $520 after I kept questioning the technician. Also, after extensive research on the company and reviewing other customer reviews, it is apparent that they have a scripted sales plan to sell every customer on this type of overpriced work that they don't actually need, especially if you are a first time home owner. I will never use this company again. The only positive thing I have to say is that the technicians are professional and very cleanly. Otherwise, this company will price gouge you and try to get you to accept work that doesn't even need to be completed. read more

If I could give this company a zero, I would. I called to schedule an appointment and they were two weeks out. They said they couldn't provide me a quote as the technician would have to come out and pay the $59 trip fee to diagnose and then provide a to the penny quote. I called and confirmed our appointment two days in advance and even got a text confirming 24 hours in advance. The morning of the date they called to cancel and offered me not later in the day, not the next business day but 18 days later!!! How would I ever trust them to come out after waiting two weeks. They then said they had emergency services to which I told them this was an emergency when can you get me in. And they responded with 18 days later is the best we can do.
