So I stopped in here thinking it was actually a brewery. Thrown a curve. Misinformed. Yes, when I did the Yelp and Google search for the area, it came up and, honestly I made the mistake of not reading the reviews.. It's ok though, a beer bar is the next best thing for me! And I wasn't the slightest bit disappointed, as they did have a well-rounded, eclectic selection of beers, ciders and kombuchas on tap. I mean really, this was probably the first place in a very long time that I had tried only 3 of the beers they had on the board. The bar gal was very friendly and offered me anything to taste also. It was somewhat impressive for a small place near the Chick Fil-A and In-N-Out burger in National City. There are plenty of other businesses here too in the same parking lot for the spillovers that are impatient to wait in those long lines, especially when one is hungry. Here, I chose a 5.4% brown ale named "Who's That? Brown!" from Tarantula Hill brewing, that was nutty yet light bodied. A simply fantastic beer like their "Liquid Candy IPA" that I had at Phil's BBQ months ago. Most of the beers were one-offs and overall less commonly found around town. The vibe here was-bring your own food, super-friendly bartenders, 91x type music- and though I was solo, it was a super chill experience and left happy even after just one beer. Really cool bar located in National City between the Miles Of Cars and the 5 freeway, that has a great selection of local beers and plenty of TV's for watching sporting events with friends. It's in a prime location with loads of eateries (mostly of the fast variety and within walking distance), extra parking in the back of the complex and one of the best features of this establishment is that you can bring outside foods during your visit, which allowed me to enjoy an In-N-Out protein style burger while downing great craft beer. The bar has an indoor and outdoor section to chill around but seating is limited though they make the best of it. It was busy too probably because the Padres were playing an important game and lots of locals were geared up cheering them on. Definitely would have to come back and check their beer rotations. We went here for the first time after seeing this place in the business plaza for a while. Now that COVID restrictions are slowly being lifted, we are starting to go out more. We met the owner, George, who was kind enough to have a conversation telling us a little bit about how he started the business. The place has a standard beer selection, but what I love most is that it isn't too crowded, it is a gorgeous and clean spot, amazing customer service, and it is nearby. It is nice to see spots like these opening up in the neighborhood uplifting the community. I ordered a michelada in honor of Cinco de Mayo. It was pretty tasty and I was pleased. We are thankful for the hospitality and will be coming back for sure!!! read more

My husband and I were walking to Chipotle and we randomly passed by this place. We were both shocked to found a craft beer bar in our neighborhood. We usually go to Machete Beer House for our craft beer but this place is so much more convenient. The owner, Jorge, is very welcoming and is very receptive to all our questions. The variety of beers here is very good and they do rotate the taps frequently. The best part of this place is that the pub is quite large and the patio is comfy. I've been here twice now, so I think a review is in order. I have to say, I live in East County and stopped by as I was in the area. I find myself now coming up with reasons to be in the area! It goes without saying that the weather on the outside patio is nice as it's not far from the coast. It is also well-located within plenty of great places to eat. Great "industrial" type furnishings that go with the early National City theme, big screen TVs and great music. Getting to the important part, they have a drink menu with at least 15-20 craft beer choices along with such standouts as Saki and Kombucha. And, check this out; they have a deal with a local restaurant for Sushi! The craft beer menu is very diversified, so surely you'll find something you like. What I like personally is they have a few craft beer choices from a brewery in Baja. I understand Over the Tap is only one of two places in San Diego County where these Baja brews are available. The staff is very knowledgeable and attentive. One guy even struck up a conversation with me about my Prius. Now who does that! read more
