I came here with a big group of friends for karaoke and family style Filipino food. We ordered sinigang, sisig, pancit, kare kare and papaitan. All of the dishes were delicious.the dishes were a bit pricey compared to our normal Filipino spots but for free karaoke, it could be worth your time. Not sure if this has changed but when I went they didn't have free water, you have to buy their water bottles so bring your own or be prepared to add that to your bill

Manila Bistro is the latest Filipino eatery to operate out of this suite in National City. It's part of a long strip mall with plenty of parking spaces. The exterior looked a bit shady in the evening with gates that appeared to be more suited for an establishment other than a restaurant. The inside was set up like a large lounge with karaoke offered nightly(?). Beware because that will make a noisy atmosphere if you visit during such hours like I did recently. A sat at corner table near the bar and service counter in the back of the room. A multi-page menu featured offerings broken down by protein type along with appetizers, noodles, rice, soup, platters, desserts, and drinks. My meal started with an order of the Lumpiang Shanghai from the list of 12 appetizers. Six pieces of fried spring rolls were filled with ground pork, celery, carrots, egg, and spices. They had a good crunch to the exterior. A dip of sweet chili sauce was provided on the side for dipping. For an entree, I selected the Pancit Mix that consisted of thick (Canton) and thin (Bihon) noodles that were stir fried with pork and vegetables. The pork was a mix of lap cheong and pork belly pieces. I think I preferred the thin noodles (rice vermicelli) versus the thick noodles (flour stick). I noticed a few shrimp were also tossed into the dish by the kitchen. The serving size was decent for the $20 price tag. I gave a 3.5 star rating for my dining experience at Manila Bistro based on the ambiance and food quality.

I recently hosted a private event at Manila Bistro for a 55th bday celebration. and the experience was wonderful. The food was excellence and many of our guest shared very positive feedback. Staff were attentive, respectful, and professional making sure everything ran smoothly. I also appreciated the cleanliness of the restaurant, especially the well-maintained restrooms. One small suggestion would be to consider adding another stall for women when hosting larger events to help reduce waiting time. The owner was approachable and easy to work with during the planning process, all of my request were accommodated. I highly recommend Manila Bistro for Birthdays, Anniversaries, Baptism, or any special occasion. Our guest left with great memories. Thank you for making our celebration so memorable!

    Chicharon Bulaklak - Highly recommended!

I'm splitting my rating here: 5 stars for our usual favorites (Crispy Pata, pancit bihon, and chicharon bulaklak), but 1 star for tonight's Tapsilog and the manager's handling of the situation. The beef was incredibly tough and rubbery. When we mentioned this to our waitress, the manager came out and told us that three people in the back tested the meat and said it was fine. Making customers feel like they are lying is terrible customer service. They did provide a new order, but it was identical to the first, so we just took it home for our dogs. We came out for a fun night of singing and good food but left disappointed. 3 stars overall because the audio system and standard menu items are still good.

It was my first time coming here and all I can say is it was SO MUCH FUN ! The food and service were a 10/10 and I loved seeing my Filipino Tios and Tias sing! Shoutout to Rica's mom and her coworkers for being such great hosts !! p.s. Hit me up for more karaoke shows

Part dive bar, part club on the right nights, and truly nothing like it. Great rotating selection of beer, outstanding cocktails, and no matter who is picking the music it hits. Like movies? They're playing them. Sports? They're on! They've even got open turntables for a bring your own vinyl night. Blasting AC in the heat and keeping you warm with hot toddys once the fall/winter hits. It's an inclusive, But the real stand out is and always has been the friendly, amazing staff. I tend to go earlier in the evening, and can always count on their bartender Jett to make a meticulous craft cocktail or a stellar beer reccomendation. No matter the day im having, a stop at Machete always makes it better!

Went back to where I was sitting with my friends & mind you... my friend has everything recorded & she showed me that there was a wedding band on his finger but he took it off probably around when he pulled me to the side away from everyone, I didnt see when he had it on for some reason I didn't pay attention. I showed him a pause clip of a video of his hand with a wedding band and he denied it but in one of the videos he says "I'm married, doesn't mean I can't flirt". MIND YOU we weren't the only ones there, so when I said that I would expose him some regular that goes there all the time who is a woman tells me "don't do that, is messed up." UMM excuse me what HE is doing is messed up, & I bet it's not the first time he's done this & I bet it's not the first time she's seen it since she's a regular. If this is the kind of establishment this bar runs to have people working like that & have regulars like that... is so disgusting & unsafe. The only positive thing I will say that there was another employee there who was nice but that's about it.

Outside, there was a band/dj combination playing 90's music from all genres, and a nice fun crown outside dancing. The weather was nice so I could sit inside and enjoy the music. I am not a big burger person but this place def topped the scales in a positive way! Their burger was amazing! The sweet potato fries were a little overdone (dark) but not burnt so I didn't have to return them. But the star of the show was their version of an espresso martini, but made with tequila. GAME CHANGER! SO SMOOOTH! I was disappointed they had run out of the cornbread. I am only in town for a few more days so I came back tonight for one last espresso and to see if they had cornbread, which they did. Huge portion, delicious flavor and honey butter adds another layer of deliciousness! Worth it. Laid back atmosphere tonight. Large space, lots of room, friendly staff both visits. Def worth a trip. And good parking! Which is worth the drive, if you know anything about San Diego.

Tender Hooligan has been in business since 2024 and it's known for its unique blend of high-fidelity vinyl listening, specialty coffee, craft beer, and cocktails. The audiophile cafe and bar is located next door to La Pesca Cevicheria on Third Ave. We had a 45 minute wait time for dinner at La Pesca and ordered a few drinks while we waited for table. Tender Hooligan functions as a community hub with a record store, themed spaces, and events like live music and game nights, offering a cozy, eclectic atmosphere for working, socializing, or enjoying music. The menu features unique drinks like the Ube Espresso and Jeepney Latte, alongside food and a selection of soju cocktails. I ordered a beer michelada. It's such a fun hangout check it out!!

Service: 4.5/5 The person who took our order was so kind, offering us water when we didn't order any drinks and making sure we needed nothing else while we ate. Atmosphere: 4.5/5 It's so so cozy in here! I think it turns into a bar after dark, and the place is the right ambiance for both AM and PM. It was decently packed, and there are games to borrow! I would recommend this place for a casual lunch, a coffee run, or a third-space hang out. Amazing, no notes. Final rating: 4.67/5 (rounding up to 5 on Yelp)
