Looking for a vibe. This is the spot. It's a rooftop sports bar in DC. There rooftop is enclosed but have giant windows that open. They also have AC units for when it gets crazy hot. The roofline lights up and they have comfortable bench seating. Its not a huge bar but the vibes were so good. We ordered nachos and calamari. The menu is bar food so these were perfect. The nachos were really good. I wouldn't head here looking for a meal that will wow you but definitely go with some friends to chill on a sports Sunday. Looking for a great sports bar with March Madness around the corner and checked out Over Under. A few things: - it's a little difficult to find and once inside you go through a dark, empty hallway to get the elevator to the roof. - while true that it is a roof, it is a roof on the 3rd floor surrounded by buildings and overlooking the not so scenic K St. - lots of TVs, large bar, lounge tables and a lot of space. It was empty for a weekend afternoon The drinks were cheap - $7 for specials and they weee made pretty strong. Service was friendly. They add 20% gratuity automatically and don't share that with you - which is always a pain and not appreciated when they don't tell you and with lots of restaurants following different rules in DC. read more

I stopped by Over Under on a sunny Saturday afternoon - I was looking for a rooftop and this spot fit the bill. Once inside, we were escorted up an elevator to the rooftop which was set up very comfortably. There's a long bar that seats 10-15 guests, lots of high top tables, and a good handful of booths. The lighting is fun, views are solid, and open-covered patio is really nice. The drinks were good - there was a $6 vodka lemonade special for the day so we had a few rounds of those. The lemonade they used was delicious - perfectly tart to cut the vodka well. They also added mint to the drink, which really made it pop. I'm about to start doing the same at home! We tried the nachos which were a little disappointing. Nothing stood out from a flavor or taste perspective - they need a little pop of seasoning or flavor. They also weren't your traditional nacho platter, but seemingly an elevated 'fancier' version. Appreciate the effort to elevate the dish, but a classic sheetpan nacho would have been perfect. Our service was a little bit slow - we found ourselves having to work a little bit to flag down a waitress or bartender. Not terribly slow, but something that we noticed throughout the afternoon. Pro tip: Keep your eyes peeled as you head towards the entrance - the main door was a little tough to find. We walked right past the entrance way once and had to doubleback. A larger sidewalk presence might be helpful to help bring folks in. read more

A good experience at Over Under. For what it is worth, I think this place is great for happy hour in this part of DC. During the summer months and early fall, the rooftop is ideal for happy hour and social gatherings. The drinks I ordered were delicious. Although I was not able to experience their happy hour food due to a kitchen malfunction, I was impressed with how quickly the manager was able to refund my money after I had already placed an order. The manager was very professional in trying to make my experience a good one despite the kitchen malfunction that prompted my party to vacate and find another happy hour venue. General service from the bar tender could have been better. Despite the venue being virtually empty during my visit, the service was slow and inattentive. Note: the venue signage is not very conspicuous from the street as the building's primary tenant is a lounge on the lower level. Overall, a good experience. I'll visit again. read more

Still on my hunt to find the best sports bar in DC, and this one is definitely a contender! The rooftop is gorgeous, the lighting is perfect, and there are plenty of TVs to catch the game. The food was PHENOMENAL. My only notes are that the menu felt a bit limited and on the pricier side, and it doesn't quite have that classic "sports bar" vibe yet. This is a cool spot to service all your needs as a sports fan. The rooftop neon lights vibe and decor leaves it elegant enough for a date night but still simple and trendy enough for a guys outing. Plenty of tv's and booth seating to accompany large groups as well as a large bar. The service here has generally been excellent on the few occasions i've visited. Their menu isn't super expansive but certainly enough to get the job done offering items like fried calamari, buffalo wings, empanadas, and grilled steak with prices ranging from $15-$22 per item. They also have a variety of daily drink specials in addition to their happy hour offerings as well. I wasn't terribly hungry on my most recent outing but did try out the beef barbacoa tacos which overall were tasty, good presentation and the beef was tender. I definitely recommend giving them a try if you're looking for a different sports bar experience from the norm. read more

I think there was something else going on downstairs. So, we were guided upstairs away from the fanfare, which was fine by me because we were the only ones up there outside of the bartender. So, since it was close to 8:00 p.m., we ordered some of their specialty drinks. I had the Screwball Old Fashioned, and the girls laughed a lot as we shared war stories of our past. My friends and I came here on a Thursday night and the bar was not very busy. It took 15 minutes after we sat down for someone to acknowledge us. The server apologized and gave us waters. It took another 15 minutes in order for the bartender (Julie) to take our orders. She asked us if we were told by the server to come to the bar to order and we said no, and she apologized. She took our orders for drinks and a small bites. After another 10-15 minutes pass and our drinks finally arrived without our food as we were about to leave. We explained to the bartender it agitated us that other customers were getting their drinks except for us. We asked if we could have our popcorn compensated as we were ready to leave. Julie apologized and stated it was only her working and they were busy. The bar was not full and there were other staff members present that could've helped. I then asked the gentleman seated next to us how long it took them to get their second drink and they said 5-10 minutes As we finished our drinks Julie never came back. She continued to look over at our table and speak to someone from the kitchen, who then proceeded to also "glance" at us due to the compensation of the popcorn we never received. We felt extremely uncomfortable and disrespected by this entire experience. After patiently waiting and being rudely looked at we decided to leave. The lack of professional and communication was despicable which is why we will NOT be returning.. I am very disappointed in the lack of customer service, and passive aggressive behavior and comment my friends and I received. I do not recommend coming to this place.. This place is a hidden gem of DC. They have great drinks and their happy hour is HALF OFF of all cocktails. The ambience is great especially on a summer day. I love the set up of this place with the options to have a high top or couches. I've gotten the cold brew martini and the Bahama Mama here. Both were great! The reason it's getting four stars and not five is sometimes the staff can be rude. I either have the BEST staff waiting on the table I'm at or they're snappy. Service..umm yeah it wasn't at all impressive. We aren't from the area, so we thought let's go here and enjoy a college game. The ambiance doesn't match the price. I understand this is a double level or tri-level and you're essentially paying for that, but for a rooftop bar...the SERVICE definitely should reflect price. Shift changes should NOT affect your customers. And just because we sit at the bar, it doesn't mean we should be neglected. AMAZING service. Working in the hospitality industry for 20 years, you can tell when a staff member is being fake nice. Jades personally/ energy/ vibe is exactly what a business needs. She's a wonderful part of the team and that's a huge reflection on management. John was visible at all times and we as far as giving my wife and I a couple of vouchers for our next visit. However, it seems like management was micromanaging the staff, ladies wearing extremely short shorts and low cut shirts which is unnecessary. I also paid $22 for a margarita and overpaid for 3 other drinks. Lastly, their frozen drinks are way too sugary and not accurate. A piña colada it's not sugar with rum but a combination of pineapple and coconut and rum but they got it all wrong. Automatic points for weekend happy hour! I came in for a quick drink, bar staff were friendly and I loved that it was a casual chill atmosphere. All ages are welcome which I loved also, somewhere I can take my mother to for a nice and drink. On their website it says there's a strict dress code policy being casual sophisticated, to me dress codes are a little outdated and make me feel a way since I've had someone close to me ruled out for sneakers where others weren't. I don't believe dress codes are always fair and it can be up to the discretion of the bouncers opinion. Also, a dress code as casual sophisticated seems so broad to me. However, the bar is full service and 50% off on cocktails during HH which is 4-7 on Saturday. I enjoyed my drink although I do not recall the name. read more
