Our bartender took great care of us and the Happy Hour specials can't be beat. Classic bar fare, but great execution. The wings had really tasty and creative sauce flavors and the burgers were homemade and delish! Dont say no to the homemade house potato chips, they are definitely a keeper! Our merry little group was visiting the Pennsylvania area and stopped in for a quick bite. We had the best time! We ordered the drink specials and a bunch of different wings and food to share. Not couple-friendly. Sky the bartender decided to give out her phone number to my *visibly over-served* boyfriend after serving both of us together all night. Simply trashy behavior. It's a shame because otherwise I had a 5-star experience overall, but this classlessness overshadowed the entire night. I am seriously considering reporting this business to the liquor control enforcement for gross over-serving. I would appreciate the ability to have a conversation with the owner. On a Sunday night, looking for a laid back neighborhood vibe...Saloon 1836 to the rescue. F had I came here with a friend and had dinner and drinks. The tables were empty but the bar was almost full. We decided that must be the place to be. Not my favorite beers on tap so we all had drinks instead... Jamison and cranberry, gin and tonic, Maker's Mark on the rocks. Mark the man tending was new but doing a handy job serving a rowdy crowd watching football. F and friend had cheeseburgers and fries which were very good. I had one of the specials, mussels in very garlicky sauce and garlic bread. No kissing tonight. What we really like about 1836 was the atmosphere. Good food and a great value. Outside looks like a big barn, inside when you first enter with your husband and kids looks like you should leave. Don't! Don't judge a book by its cover. You don't know at first what you are walking into as the front area is dive local bar with pool tables and jukebox. Dining area in back is clean and basic. Very casual hometown eatery. Food is very good. Service is pretty slow. Waitress came to us quickly to take order and drinks, but the food took forever. Waitstaff and owner are very nice, and the owner is a Veteran. We were proud to patronize here. I would give it 4 Stars, but it wasn't crowded at all and it took very long time to get our food. That said, the food was very good. read more

Friendly staff and great food! We went on a not so busy Thursday night and we got our drinks and food real quick. The wings were amazing and huge! The specials were also great and very reasonably priced. The waitress/bartender was single-handedly waiting on the entire place and was very friendly and quick with all our orders. When we come to our timeshare we try a new place. This year was 1836. It was a Saturday evening and it seemed quite deserted. It reminded me of the long lost "shot and a beer joint" I grew up with where family and friends gathered. Walking in was like stepping back in time, antique items everywhere, a bar, pool table and separate dining room. Background country music that could be enjoyed, but still have a conversation. The service was awesome, Cindy was a hoot! We had great draft beer and burgers. Not just burgers, but BURGERS!!! They were awesome cooked to perfection with a pile of fries. The nice part was the price was very reasonable, no gouging "the tourists". Highly recommend for families during the earlier hour, kitchen closed at 10. It seems later the place fills up and can get hopping. Highly recommend! It is an experience. read more

My wife and I decided to stop in on a whim on a Friday afternoon for happy hour. At first glance the establishment looks a bit rough (after all it does call itself a saloon). We took a seat at a table and within moments our waitress, Renee, was there to greet us and take our drink order. We found out that appetizers were 1/2 price and there were drink specials. We got our drinks and ordered the onion rings to split as an app and told Renee to bring that first but we would be ordering burgers also. The "O rings" were outstanding. No sooner had we finished them and our burgers arrived. Half pound beauties, mine with mushrooms and swiss...My wife with another onion ring, cheddar and barbecue sauce...French fries and a pickle.
