Tavern on The Trail in WhiteHaven Pa across from the market is a worthy stop. They have really stepped up the game a bit. This establishment was formerly Capone's , a name it went by for a long time.Before that, It's history as a spirits pub goes back many years . Right when you go inside the bar, will tell you you're in an old old establishment. You don't see this type of bar-back construction anymore. And it's original. Fast fwd to today. It is very revitalized with new owners recently taking over the reins of the place late in 2020. This non- smoking establishment has a good sized back room with tables as well as tables and a high top in the main bar area. They can seat 10-20 if you let them know ahead of time. The crowd pressure is both local flavor and transient, especially in the outdoor recreation warm months. The fact it sits right on the D&L Trail is also a nice point. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. Most of the time they go out of their way to make sure you're served and conversed with, if your into that. The menu has grown and evolved also. The food has great flavor and is a decent sized plate. The cooking here seems exceptional for a local tavern. There are specials running almost every night. Taco Tuesdays and other special food offerings are also to be had. The Wings are big and meaty; the sauce is generous and the best I've had in the area. And that exceptional meal on Sundays that runs as a special "Grandma's SUNDAY Dinners". The Burgers are as big as trampolines and tasty. The customer area is a welcoming atmosphere with some games and great music machine. Karaoke or Triva Mondays, Live music most every Saturday night now. A Great outdoor area with tables and umbrellas sitting right there off the trail in Main Street Whitehaven in the warm months. If your sightseeing this is great lunch stop, if you're on the River or trekking the D&L Trail around White Haven it's right here. This is definitely worth the stop! We moved to White Haven last year and my husband has gotten take out a number of times for our family. We were able to enjoy a kid free lunch one time recently and I was delighted to see such a cute little(its actually bigger than it seems) spot in town. We loved the cheese curds!! Pretty much anything we have had has been super delish and we love the pink or orangey sauce. Get the onion rings! You don't be disappointed. read more

We had dinner at Tavern on the Trail with my two grandsons. The food was great, the young men loved it. The waiter/owner was very good with the grandsons and entertained them with his wit. They still comment on how great it was and repeat some of the witty things he said to them. We then went skiing and almost went back to Tavern on the Trail another night but were tired and didn't want to drive back to that location. IT WAS GREAT!!! You know that Philly argument Pats or Gino cheese steaks? Well Taven on the Trail has the best steaks in NE Pa. I ordered one and then never ordered anything else, because why experiment. We were passing through the town for vacation and i have to say our whole experience with this restaurant was fantastic! The cheesesteak and burgers were really good. All of the portions were enough for us to have exactly half of our meal and take the other half to go (all the food was also homemade, even the fries). The service was fast and the servers were very nice. It was kind of loud, but they were also very busy. We are staying at the Holiday Inn down the road and we got a half off appetizer coupon :) read more

Ok let me start of by saying the bartender server who I wish I Reme red his name was absolutely awesome. Great personality, friendly, entertaining and just such a fine representation of this small little bar with amazing food. We were just passing through on our way to drop my son off a college and had an awesome experience. We will plan this as a stop every trip. We had a Rubin special that was the best ever and a chicken cheesesteak the was almost as good. Great little neck clams too. I can't say enough about the over all experience and how friendly this bartender was. When we first walked in as stranger from out of town was a little uncomfortable as you could tell it was all regulars but we were immediately welcomed and felt like regulars by the time we left. If we lived near here I would go all the time. Don't over look this little gem of a place. read more

I heard they were under new ownership and that they had great burgers. We went to check it out. I asked the bartender what he thought was the best thing to get. He said the burgers are really good but I'd be surprised at how good their cheesesteak is. He said he lived in Philly and these were as good as Pat's. I ordered it and it was really good. The food was very good. We've had all different kinds of burgers and every one was very tasty, cheesesteaks are awesome, clams, cheese curds, all good! Fries are fresh cut, which I normally don't like bc they are flimsy but these were the best fresh cut fries I've had. I would definitely recommend trying this place!!! read more

First time here since change in ownership. Cheesesteaks were very good. We will get those again. French onion soup was lacking flavor, onion were barely cooked. My husband thought the wings were good. They were large and meaty. Service was so so, they were out of fries and waitress offered onion rings instead, order came out with chips. She brought out our cheesesteaks before the soup and wings. It's basically a dive bar. They have a large room in the back and could do so much with that. We will come back for the food read more

This is a pleasant pub in White Haven, PA. My husband and I went in for a late lunch. We ordered a cheese steak and wings. Both were freshly made and very flavorful. There were local beers on tap and the wines were from local vintners. Although we were newcomers to the tavern, both the bartender and the chef welcomed us warmly. As the regulars came in for happy hour, the atmosphere was cordial and Doug the bartender greeted each of the patrons. Restrooms were clean and well supplied. Outside there was plenty of on street parking. This is definitely worth a stop on the trail. read more
