When the owner mentioned it, I was very disappointed, but once we were there, I was so happy with the opportunity. With any B&B, you're staying in the main house, having idle chit chat with other guests, and sometimes hear people in other rooms. The cabin, you have none of this, just perfect tranquility, silence, and isolation. The owners stocked up the fridge for us and we can have breakfast in our own cabin. It was more of a continental breakfast, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, granola, etc..., but it was so pleasant. The cabin is located about 500 feet from the main house and several miles from the main road, and about 8 miles from downtown Traverse City. You really get in the woods feeling without being to far from the city and you have a river flowing through your backyard. It is a really nice place and I would gladly stay there again.

The accommodations are beautiful and relaxing, and the Boardman River runs right through the property. Brian's breakfast are something to really look forward to, with fresh fruit accompanying great omlettes, pancakes, French toast, sausage, and more, with a different selection every day. We're looking forward to returning.

Stayed here for one night during a Northwest Michigan nature getaway. Jan and Jim are both super hip kind folks that gladly take care of your every need or want. Jan was very accommodating with my vegan lifestyle and made me a delicious breakfast. The rooms are all decorated different, with lots of original and traditional Victorian decor. Lots of opportunity to learn about the history of the home, the prior owners, and the town. Plenty of literature. The sunroom is fantastic! There's really so much to say, but I'll leave it at-trust this five star review and book your stay here, ASAP!

For a fifteen dollar donation I got to enjoy two hours of Jim's hospitality, meeting the cats and the talkative parrot Josefina - Jose for short. Our stay at the Grey Hare was thoroughly enjoyed by both of us. Derrek and Sarah were so attentive and made sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. The attention to details was impressive - there were glasses of port and chocolate set out for us every night, homemade snacks available in the sitting room and the breakfasts Sarah prepared were so delicious they bordered on decadent. Every morning, Derrek served us a special homemade pastry with coffee at 8:30am while Sarah made our breakfast, ready at 9am. The timing was very relaxing and gave us a chance to enjoy the beautiful scenery surrounding the inn. We stayed in the Barnyard room, which was roomy with a separate sitting room where we could relax and enjoy the view of cherry orchards and bay. The linens were top quality, and the bed was very comfortable. We decided to stay on the peninsula for the majority of our visit and with the recommendations from Sarah and Derrek, we found a nice beach, a fancy restaurant, a retro general store and several roadside stands that sold cherry and lavender products. If you go, be sure to stop at the Harbor View Lavender Farm; their ice cream is special (lavender and honey)!

It is a lovely log cabin with a great living room with a television that you are allowed to watch Netflix on and a kitchen, which is mostly used for cooking breakfast. It also has a hot tub, that you can use at your leisure. The best part about the bed and breakfast is the beach with its patio, deck, fire pit, kayaks and canoe that you can use. We stayed in the master suite, which was huge with a huge bathroom that had a claw-foot tub and double headed shower. It was pretty cool. The other rooms appeared to have a separate bathroom from the room, but I did not pry too much to find out if this was true. One thing I did notice was that you could hear people in the neighboring rooms, because the windows were open. There is no air conditioning, but because it is on the water the room stayed nice and cool and air conditioning seemed unnecessary. Ted and Marie, the proprietors, were great hosts. They made a very simple, but lovely breakfast of Grand Traverse Pie Co. Quiche, yogurt, fruit, and freshly made muffins with orange juice and great coffee to drink. At breakfast on Saturday, we had a nice chat with the owners and some other guests. They also gave us some pie for dessert! The hosts really impressed me on the last night of our stay. We were on the beach deck drinking a glass of wine and enjoying the beauty of the bay, when Ted came down with some wood for the fire and helped us build a fire, then left us to enjoy it. He also had said that the paddles for the canoes and kayaks were broken, so he bought new ones while we were staying there and we were able to go for a really great early morning canoe trip prior to check-out time on our last day of our stay. I would definitely recommend this for anyone who is traveling as a couple or alone.
