Our stay at the Grey Hare was thoroughly enjoyed by both of us. Derrek and Sarah were so attentive and made sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. The attention to details was impressive - there were glasses of port and chocolate set out for us every night, homemade snacks available in the sitting room and the breakfasts Sarah prepared were so delicious they bordered on decadent. Every morning, Derrek served us a special homemade pastry with coffee at 8:30am while Sarah made our breakfast, ready at 9am. The timing was very relaxing and gave us a chance to enjoy the beautiful scenery surrounding the inn. We stayed in the Barnyard room, which was roomy with a separate sitting room where we could relax and enjoy the view of cherry orchards and bay. The linens were top quality, and the bed was very comfortable. We decided to stay on the peninsula for the majority of our visit and with the recommendations from Sarah and Derrek, we found a nice beach, a fancy restaurant, a retro general store and several roadside stands that sold cherry and lavender products. If you go, be sure to stop at the Harbor View Lavender Farm; their ice cream is special (lavender and honey)!

When the owner mentioned it, I was very disappointed, but once we were there, I was so happy with the opportunity. With any B&B, you're staying in the main house, having idle chit chat with other guests, and sometimes hear people in other rooms. The cabin, you have none of this, just perfect tranquility, silence, and isolation. The owners stocked up the fridge for us and we can have breakfast in our own cabin. It was more of a continental breakfast, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, granola, etc..., but it was so pleasant. The cabin is located about 500 feet from the main house and several miles from the main road, and about 8 miles from downtown Traverse City. You really get in the woods feeling without being to far from the city and you have a river flowing through your backyard. It is a really nice place and I would gladly stay there again.

It was beautiful, and the BnB reminded me so much of the house I grew up in with its Victorian construction, that I felt such a massive amount of nostalgia that I not only slept like a baby, but was bummed that I had to eventually come home. The innkeepers were not only friendly, but really knew thier history of the house... And to top it off... Breakfast was ALWAYS amazing. The Balcony room was beautiful and very romantic. The rooms were amazing and the grounds were wonderful to walk around, but above that, the service was fantastic. Before I left, I felt like I had become a close friend. Alice, who runs the place was so wonderful and the breakfast she made was the best I have had. In addition, her son Charles was one of the most interesting people I have met. Charles manages the property and takes care of the grounds, Bee Hives, Chickens, etc. Each place you looked there was something interesting; from the apple trees to the flowers all the way down to the rocks who were decorated by some very talented grandchildren. I not only highly recommend this B&B, I plan to go back every year to have our sales meeting.

Eric and Misty are friendly, knowledgeable and accessible hosts. The food they made was delicious and is chef-quality. They did their best to accommodate our dietary restrictions. All of these factors helped make our stay an amazing experience, as well as their advice on where to go and what to see in the area. The Inn itself is a large converted farmhouse on an organic cherry farm just north of Traverse City. it does sit next to a highway so there was some significant road noise at times. However it is still an idyllic peaceful property with many places to sit and contemplate nature.

The large wraparound porch was the highlight for us! Even though there had been quite a bit of rain, we were able to spend some time outside overlooking the cherry trees and we were able to see one of the most beautiful sunsets of our lives. The wide open fields that surround the property were a much-needed respite from city life. The home is cozy and historic feeling while somehow also seeming updated in many ways. Our room was well appointed and extremely clean. We stayed in the Kesner room with a slight view of the bay. Breakfast was delicious and somewhat unexpectedly posh, as Eric prepared an egg scramble over asparagus with a breakfast caprese salad, as well as a fruit & ginger smoothie. We enjoyed meeting other guests at the table as well. Misty & Eric also provided complimentary refreshments to guests, which was a nice touch to an already lovely stay. I was initially concerned that it wasn't close enough to Traverse City for our visit to the cherry festival, but it was a quick drive into town and I would absolutely stay at Country Hermitage again. Overall, I can't say enough great things about Country Hermitage and our hosts. Highly recommend.

They were accommodating to us on very short notice and served as our base for exploring the Leelenau Peninsula. Our room was comfortable with a nice queen size bed and we got some wonderful sunset photos off of the back deck over looking some of their 12 acres. The sun was beautiful as it dipped below the tree line. Breakfast with good coffee was homemade by Scott and included his delicious french toast in a caramel vanilla egg wash.
