I got an eye exam appointment scheduled within a week to see Dr. Owen. He has state of the art equipment and took time to answer my questions. This was a baseline first time exam, but he gave me a prescription for glasses and wants me to return in 6 months. I'm happy to be rechecked frequently because I have MS and sometimes you get optic neuritis. They have an extensive selection of frames to peruse, but you aren't required to buy frames there I used to go to another Newberg eye place that was filthy, had kids/interns doing the eye exams and sold old fashioned type frames. The doctor never was involved. Didn't know if they showed up that day. I had very little confidence in the exam, and the equipment they used was OLD and not up to date like Owen has read more

The Doctor was thorough and gave me options for correcting my vision. She was very nice. I felt confident that she was giving me an accurate prescription. I rate only a four because two pairs of trial contacts were ordered and I was told they would be there in 2-3 business days by the doctor. When I called the following week to check on them, I was told one week and they were only a few days overdue. Then at two weeks, I get a call saying that only one set was in and the other was on back order. I was on my out of the country for a vacation so now it will be another two weeks. Not saying this is their fault but maybe a new supplier for the contacts? read more

TERRIBLE!!! DO NOT GO TO OWEN EYE!!! They left critical information off the prescription, and was unable to get my glasses made as I was getting ready to move out of state. I called, and the Office Manager said that it too bad and that she was not going to update the form that had my prescription. She was very rude and toxic because I did not get my glasses made there, even though that is where I got my eye exam. This place is very unprofessional, and was all smiles when they thought they had a sale, but all venom when I went elsewhere. read more

TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! rude, ignorant, unhelpful staff. both me, my parent, and staff at the eye center contacted Owen eye care because I could not get glasses dispensed without a fax number being included. staff on the phone REFUSED and told us that we do not actually need a fax, despite us having the legal requirements on the computer in front of us. Still 5 stars! Dr. Owen and his staff are top notch! They are still taking care of my entire family. Dr. Owen was able to set my 5 yr old son up with some super nice Oakleys, that fit perfectly!!! Update: This place keeps getting better. I have been back with my entire family and Dr. Owen just keeps getting better and better. He has all this super advanced equipment(which i know nothing about), but he basically gives you a 3-d image of the inside of your eye, completely painless! I am thrilled with my experiences working with Owen Eye care. I actually changed insurance companies so that I could come here. The building is beautiful. It's within walking distance of my house which is ideal. Dr Owen invested in all new equipment and it shows. Gone are the days of archaic eye exams. My appointment was done efficiently and Dr Owen explained everything well. The selection of glasses is outstanding. I picked out a clear pair of Salt glasses I am happy with. Part of the reason Newberg is an exceptional town is because of its neighborhood shops and Owen Eye Care is just that. I walked in without an appointment to pick out some new glasses because my current ones had just broken. I was prepared to have to make an appointment because that is typically how it goes. Not only was I able to get the help I needed right then, but Dr. Owen was the person helping me the entire time. It was really cool to see the doctor out on the sales floor and not just tucked away in an office somewhere in the back. For those who have little to no experience with eye glasses and the verbiage used, this is not the place for you. For those who are looking to be guided through the process because of your lack of knowing this business this place is not for you. If you have a lot of questions regarding your concerns, this place is not for you. If your expecting any kind of warm and fuzzy feeling of genuine concern for your experience, forget it, you wont get it here. When you get your invoice, dont expect to understand what it means as it is all in there terminology which for us who are not eye professionals cant possably understand. No information packets, no advertising, no indicators of what exactly you recieved, uv rated? Dont know, it dont say, polorised? Dont know, it dont say, transition description? Dont know, it dont say. If your a robot, this is an ideal place for you. Poporization, spacing, correct pupil placement, are not words used here. Examples are not offered. Expect to have more questions when you leave than you got answers while you were there. It's hard to come up with questions when your frustrated from the lack of information you got from your first set of questions. Do your research, know what you want before you go there, dont expect any more than you would expect from a robot with a smile! Be prepared to google all of the words to learn their meanings when you get home. For as much money as they charge, I expected more information period. I'm very disappointed. read more

For many years I worked in eye care myself. We were surprised when our teenager failed a vision screening and out of convenience we went to Owen eye care. Our Son ended up needing a prescription and was fitted with contacts that same day! He was trained on how to use them and care for them and came home with them that afternoon! This is a big deal for a first time wearer and he was excited to have it all done in just one visit! From the Dr. To the staff we could not have asked for better health care and service! I have worn single vision contacts for over 20 years. With age I have had to start using reading glasses and have multi focal glasses for use when i need a break from contacts. With the type of work I do and my hobbies I was relying more and more on readers and hate the distortion of multifocal glasses so I asked about multifocal contacts. Listen to them when they warn you about the frustration. However it can work out for you really well so dont get frustrated with the Owen Eyecare team, remember they are doing their best to help you. They started me out in soft lenses, it was what I was wearing for single vision and they are more comfortable. Unfortunately if you have astigmatism there are limited options here and we ran out of options. I wore hard lenses about 18 years ago and they provide more multifocal options. Dr. Kaufman was willing to give this a shot. Warning, you have to really want this, hard lenses take a lot of determination to get through the break in period. But it is paying off, I just picked up what should be my last set and it is really cool to sit and type this out on my phone without readers and without squinting! read more

After two eye exams elsewhere, Dr. Owen was able to determine my first-grader did indeed need a vision correction! With his new glasses, my son's behavior problems at school in the afternoon ceased, his headaches vanished and he's more engaged in his learning. W.O.W. I'm blown away! When I called to make my appointment, I was greeted by Renee. She was very friendly and was able to get me an appointment within just a couple of days. The office is quirky, modern and clean. The equipment is state-of-the-art and it was so fun to see scans and photographs of my eyes just moments after they were taken. Dr. Owen explains everything, step-by-step as it is happening. I ended up needed a prescription for glasses and Dr. Owen sat down with me to go over what insurance would cover and what I would be responsible for out of pocket. He helped me select frames that fit my face and gave me an honest opinion. I like that the doctor was the one that helped me through the entire process - usually when it is time for frames and lenses you are passed off to someone else while the doctor is in back. Owen Eye Care has a decent selection of frames ranging from $140/$150 to over $300 - so, something for everyone. I was told that my glasses would take approximately 7-10 days to arrive but I received a call 3 days later saying they were in! Dr. Owen took several precise measurements prior to ordering my glasses so they arrived fitting PERFECTLY! I am so impressed by Owen Eye Care. I feel like I received personal, undivided attention throughout the entire process. Dr. Owen is friendly, knowledgeable and approachable.
