    Veteran Air

Very disappointed with the quality of work from Veteran Air…read more I called Veteran Air before a major cold snap to have our heat pump checked out. Their technician, Jonathan Scholtz, diagnosed a corroded indoor evaporator coil and low system pressure. He also tried to upsell me on replacing the entire unit -- I should have realized that was a warning sign. Instead, they replaced just the coil. I paid the full amount ($3,233.85 after the veteran discount) and hoped that would be the end of it. About five months later, I started noticing the condensate pan overflowing and draining outside the house. I tried clearing the lines myself, but the dripping continued. Since it took Lisa from Veteran Air several hours to respond, I went ahead and called another HVAC company for help. They charged me a $150 on-site visit fee. The other technician was shocked by what he found: when Veteran Air replaced the coil, they never reinstalled the baffles around it and didn't even secure the coil properly in the brackets. There was basically no way for the condensation to drain correctly. He also confirmed the system pressure was still extremely low. The other techs could have fixed it right then, but they didn't want me to be out of pocket for repairs that should be covered under warranty. They recommended I call Veteran Air back to make it right. Here are pictures of what the other HVAC tech saw. I'm really disappointed -- I expected better, especially from a company that serves veterans. I wouldn NOT recommend Veteran Air based on this experience.

I just found my go-to HVAC crew, AND I wasn't even calling about an HVAC system…read more Late on a Friday I discovered THE FIXER-upper I moved into has window units were basically welded into place. After striking out with other companies, I phoned Veteran Air. Lisa answered, listened, and looped in her service manager right away. Minutes later she called back: they could help, and we booked for Monday. Matthew, from Veteran Air, showed up this morning and was a total pro. He greeted my dogs like old friends, then tackled the monster unit without scratching the window frame or siding. Watching him wrestle that sealed-in relic out of the wall convinced me I never could've done it alone. The unbelievable thing? The bill was tiny. Way less than I expected for the time, tools, and muscle it took and such a good value. When I'm ready to add central AC, Veteran Air will be my first call. If they put this much care into a one-off rescue job, I can't wait to see how they handle a full install. Five stars, no hesitation.

I strongly advise being cautious if you consider hiring Moorhead Service Company. Based on my…read morerecent experience, they use deceptive quoting practices, inflate their line items, and their representatives will blatantly lie to you to cover their tracks. Here is a breakdown of why I decided to take my business elsewhere: Wasted Time with "Assessments" for Set Prices: The representative insisted on an on-site assessment to take pictures and evaluate the job before sending a quote. However, when I later challenged their inflated price, they suddenly claimed that $310 is just their rigid "set price" for the project. If the price was truly fixed from the start, insisting on an on-site evaluation was a deceptive game and a complete waste of my time. Padded and Inaccurate Quotes: My project was a simple, brand-new vent Installation requiring a hole cut into the drywall and exterior. Despite sending clear photos and videos beforehand, the written estimates they provided included removing existing dryer ducting, removing old vent covers, and attaching the vent to existing ducts. There was absolutely no existing ductwork or covers to remove on my property. When I asked for an itemized invoice breaking down parts versus labor, they completely ignored the request. Dismissive of Competitor Quotes: I was upfront about having cheaper quotes (around $175-$190) and was trying to see if we could meet in the middle. When I provided screenshots of these competing quotes, the representative condescendingly asked if I had called any "actual big name companies" or just "contractors." Once it was clear they were significantly more expensive and couldn't justify their inflated price tag, they dug their heels in and stopped trying to work with me entirely. Blatant Lying About Communication: The most infuriating part was when the representative texted me claiming, "I've asked you to call me so I could explain everything and you never called." This was a straight-up lie. As you can see in the call log screenshot attached to this review, we had a 5-minute phone conversation just the day before where they even merged another person into the call. Lying to a customer's face to cover up your own poor communication is unacceptable. Overall, the lack of transparency, the blatant padding of the work estimate, the condescending attitude, and the outright lies left a terrible taste in my mouth. Save yourself the headache and go with a company that offers honest, upfront pricing and basic respect.

He was super nice and had someone out to see my tenant the very next day to assess my issue. The worker, Blaine, showed up on time and was super friendly. He called when he was 15 minutes out and called again with a diagnosis prior to fixing anything. The pricing was fair and they were quick and resolved the problem quickly and provided all the information needed to make decisions and prevent future issues. Plus they offered a 30-day guarantee on the work. There was actually a follow up issue that occurred on Saturday and they came out on SUNDAY (after church) to fix it. Rather than upcharging us for a full coil clean, he was (luckily) able to manually remove the pet hair from the coils and return its condition to functional. And, it was covered under the warranty. Their communication was spot on via text and calls. His invoicing was fair and clearly stated and itemized and I genuinely feel like this is a GOOD business run by a GOOD person with really great service people. I trust him implicitly and would recommend him to anyone I know.
