These guys are as shady as people can get. My wife and I puchased a car there, and when we left it was already dark. We didn't realize it, but the windows were so darkly tinted we couldn't even see headlights in our rear view mirror. So we took the car back and they let us trade it for another car. We had the car for a month, and then my wife was diagnosed with a serious illness, so we asked them to buy it back after just a month. I read many bad reviews that seem more circumstantial than representative of the overall reputation and trustworthiness of the business. But I can only speak for my own experience. I needed a fuel-efficient car and my budget was rather limited. I can say these people did everything in their power to make it possible. I don't believe other places would have done what Own a Car did for me considering my situation. Also, yes, the car had a small problem. The tire sensor warning was on. They told me they aired the tires before I left and that the sensor warning should reset. Well, it didn't, but that was no problem. I called them and they just told me to come by and take the car to their service center. It was so incredibly easy to get that done. So, I feel it's very common for used cars to be showing minor problems and all a customer has to do is talk to them before lashing out with 1-star reviews. I felt their staff was very friendly. They do have "aggressive" sales tactics in a good way, which means they won't stop trying until they get what you need and want. It's a win-win in my opinion. My advice for anyone buying a car is to look at the Carfax report and test drive the car. And should the car show problems immediately after buying it, just give your salesperson a call to resolve the issue. They offer different types of warranties too. I do recommend this dealership, and I will go to them first next time I am in the market for a vehicle. A shoutout to my salesperson Sammy and the financing people who worked out a miracle for me. Bought a car 3 months ago still haven't received my hard plates, nor my registration. I called DMV to get answers because LESLIE from own a car is so over whelmed with work and never gets back to me. Dmv stated the car had retro fines needed to be payed since 2024 and no one said anything. I finally spoke with Leslie and she straight out lied about DMV taking up to a year to send plates and registration tags were payed off long time ago. DMV from Sacramento called me and told me that as of March 17 2026 nothing has been payed. I spoke with the bank that financed my car and also having issues to locate Leslie. Worst first time buying experience I have ever had. My wife and I went in looking to buy a truck for my work and daily driver, after looking we had our eyes set on truck in the lot. After asking questions and discussing price, I had told the dealer that we wouldn't test drive anything unless we were pre approved, after dealer said that we were we took it for a test drive and after returning we weren't actually approved. It gets worse when they brought a truck from a "warehouse". We looked at the truck and were satisfied with it even though there was a big difference between what the other truck had come with such as modifications, after getting the paperwork and signing for it we noticed that the dealer adjusted the price slightly lower than truck we originally wanted. Our truck was priced well over 20k more than the truck was actually worth. Sticking us with long term payments for a truck worth way less including no detail on the vehicle and modifications to the vehicle that was not disclosed. Very shady place. read more

I came in with a friend to trade in her vehicle which was already paid off. Within the first 15 min Brian was so helpful and had a buy bid ready for us and was great to work with. We then told them we liked there offer and would like to trade the vehicle in we had a short wait as we were walk ins so that's to be expected. We picked out the car and they drew up numbers and we'd actually be receiving money back! Yay!
