I had a great experience here! I first came on 3/8/24 to drop off a pair of pants with a rip on the back thigh as well as a jacket whose zipper got crushed. I had previously hand-sewn the rip on the pants, but the fabric was so weak that it was beginning to rip again. My jacket zipper had gotten crushed in a door jamb when I hung it on the back of a door a couple of years ago. I was nervous because I love both these articles of clothing and have only been to one tailor before and it was a disappointing experience. The man behind the counter was kind and transparent about what would be possible or not, which was great for setting expectations. He first offered to try opening the crushed zipper using a pair of scissors which helped a little but didn't solve the issue entirely. I decided to get the whole zipper replaced for $40, and they conveniently had one in a perfectly matching color. I asked if they could help with the pants, and the man offered to sew a line using a sewing machine for just $3. I got a text saying everything was ready on 3/16/24. When I picked them up, I was super pleased to see how well the new zipper was sewn and how robust the sewn line on my pants are! Very happy with my experience! read more

I am thrilled with Highland Dry Cleaning & Tailoring and the above-and-beyond quality work they perform. I purchased from a thrift store a leather jacket which had one issue: it was quite evident it had previously belonged to a cigarette smoker. The smell of smoke was immediately present and, frankly, overwhelming. I thought the odds it could be restored were 50/50, at best. Highland Dry Cleaning & Tailoring eliminated the issue. The smell was completely removed. In addition, the few exterior stains along the jacket were polished away as well, without any hint of blemishes. A jacket which looked (and smelled) haggard looks brand new! If you have any leather garments in need of refreshing and cleaning, I very much recommend bringing them here! read more

I recently purchased a second-hand wedding dress and when it arrived it looked dirtier than I had anticipated. I brought it to Highland Dry Cleaning because they advertised cleaning wedding dresses. I paid up front and felt like it was pricey ($150 for the cleaning when my dress only cost $400). HOWEVER! I just got the dress back and I didn't realize it was even supposed to be this color?!? So I have returned a few times since my prior review, and the owner (his name is Eddie - not sure of spelling) and I have discussed the appearance of the mysterious stain on my blazer. I still don't know how it got there, and neither does he, but what matters is that this business CARES about delivering quality service and keeping customers happy (because happy customers = returning customers). I haven't seen issues with other dry cleaning items that I've sent there (though now I'm more careful to inspect anything I leave with Eddie) and I've slowly been entrusting this place for all the random clothes I've held on to and haven't worn for need of tailoring. I'm still "testing" the quality before handing over my prized designer suits, but for the price I've paid for the tailoring, I'm reasonably satisfied. After a lot of searching for a local dry cleaners I could rely on, I finally found Highland and have not been disappointed. They are professional, courteous and I especially like the automated text messages when items are ready to pick up. It's typically sooner than the quoted time frame (~ 1- 2 days) which is another definite plus. They are also honest -I had unknowingly bought some gloves with real rabbit fur trim ( sorry bunny ) and the owner was the one who told me about the fur and that he didn't think it would do so great in the cleaning process. Super honest, which I really appreciate. Based on other reviews it sounds like they can take care of some pretty complex stuff though (wedding dresses, on-site repairs etc.) so definitely ask if something can be done, before assuming not. Prices are reasonable, on par with other cleaners. Not sure if they do delivery, but I don't go that frequently so that's not an issue for me. read more

This is the best dry cleaning/tailor I've been to in the Boston area. The owner, Eddie, is fantastic. I wanted to gift my Canada Goose coat to a friend who was visiting from out of town, but noticed an oil-like stain on it just three days before her flight to leave. Even though care instructions for Canada Goose recommend against dry cleaning, I went to Highland and also explained the quick turn around time I'd need. Eddie not only calmly accepted this challenge, but also delivered impeccable results in record time: the coat was ready the *next day* (much earlier than I'd said I needed it) and the stain was fully removed--a true magician. I've also had great experiences with alterations at Highland. Blazers, dress pants, even a pair of jeans--always excellently taken in. Eddie even patched holes in one of of my dog's sweaters (yes, she's spoiled)--at no cost! Talk about AMAZING customer service and caring about longtime customers. read more

I came to this place and asked if they could do same-day hemming and they had my pants ready within 2 hours! I love this place. Though it is a small storefront, they have everything. The shop is clean and beautiful and they are a one-stop shop. They do dry-cleaning, alterations and shoe repair. Its all excellent. I have used each service and been impressed by everything. The prices are competitive, the work is done on time and the staff is great. Also they text you when your items are done so there is no forgetting. I have used to use a service down by Porter Square but have moved all of my tailoring and dry-cleaning here. I can say without a doubt this is the best dry cleaning/alterations place I have ever been to. Not only do they do an impeccable job on all of my dry cleaning and alterations, but they also prioritize you if you are in a hurry to have something cleaned or altered. Examples: One time, as a last-ditch effort to fix a shirt that was seemingly unfixable, I went to Highland Dry Cleaning and they were able to fix it as if there was never any damage. Also, I brought a dress to get altered and needed it to get shortened ASAP. They cared enough about me that I got a call from them 2-hours later saying my dress was ready to be picked up. I rarely write reviews, but this tailor is about as good as it gets. I brought him a pair of expensive pants I was given that I needed to be taken in 6 sizes! After looking them over thoughtfully and pinning them, he came up with a plan to create and outer seam to create a snugger fitting pant. Yesterday I picked up the most impeccably tailored pants I've ever seen. The stitching is beautiful and durable, and they fit like a dream. For the major alterations, the price was incredible. I've been to this spot before to drop off some dry cleaning, and was already pleased as the owners are so friendly, and their opening week, were giving out free chocolate (seriously!). Tuesday, I had a Skype interview that required a 'business formal' outfit - so I bought my first ever suit. It fit... okay, well enough for a Skype interview. The interview went well enough that the next day, I took it over to Highland Dry Cleaning & Tailoring for tailoring it up just in case the company called me back. I asked for a rush job, and the owner said they would do what they could, but it's wedding season and this could take up to a week. OK, fine, most companies don't operate that fast anyways when it comes to interviewing, in my experience. I left and later called to say that if it'd be helpful to just do the jacket first, that'd be fine, I could work with the pants if I wore heels. He reached out to his seamstress to check to see if she could do a rush job, and called me back and said "should be no problem." Lo and behold, today I got a call back for the next round for *next week*, so I stopped by the tailor on my way home to ask if I could just have my suit back - better to have a suit that fits poorly than no suit at all. THE SEAMSTRESS WAS ALREADY DONE. She just had to finish hemming the pants and said that I could pick up the whole thing tomorrow. I was shocked. I tried everything on and just wow - it all fits so, so much better. I'm so happy to be going into my interview next week knowing I'll look like a million bucks! I created a YELP account just so I could write this review! Highland Dry Cleaning and Tailoring is AMAZING! I brought my wedding dress to them with a bit of a crazy idea. It was a beaded mermaid dress and we were having a beach wedding and I wanted to see if they could make the bottom of the mermaid detachable so that I could take it off for the reception and just have a short dress. They were understandably a bit hesitant/cautious at first because they didn't want to ruin my dress, but I convinced them to try it and it turned out beautifully! I've attached a few pictures below of the front and back view of the long dress as well as the front of the short dress. I didn't tell anyone that I was doing that so it was a really fun surprise on the wedding day. The tailoring was so perfect that no one could tell that that there is a zipper on the inside of the bottom of the dress. The tailoring was affordable and high quality! Also, I had bought a veil online and when I got it the veil's flowers were all messed up and they fixed that for me, adding in new flowers.
